Also, the way she sang Breakway in that interview is how I wish she had sung on the rerecorded version. I will always prefer her deeper voice and darker tones over the overly high pitched versions we got since 2021. With that being said, i hated how she tried to sound like Pavarotti druing AL5 😭 it just sounded weird and unnatural so i think i would've hated Breakaway with that voice lol. She does a bit nasally in the studio version we got but it's not too bad since the song is not even that high anyway. She sounds like UMS-TBDT on that one. I can't complain too much since it's one of my all time favorite songs and i'm happy she re-recorded it. THIS. I hated that so much. I'm happy she went back to her original singing style for HAW.

Let Go this and Let Go that and Let Go seems to be the only relevant thing she's ever put out. The funko pops are cute and they are from an iconic moment of her career, but I just wish her other eras got a bit more recognition, specially this being the 20th anniversary of UMS, her first #1 album. It would've been awesome getting the Sk8er Boi one and an UMS album one as well. Or even a Girlfriend one. Don't know, Let Go always getting all the flowers doesn't sit well with me, even though it was expected.
I KNOW how important it was in her career and how strong of a debut it was, and it was the album that made me a fan 22 years ago and I will always cherish it so much (before you come at me lol), but Avril proved to be much more than just that one album in which she had very little to no input on.
Anyways, I'm glad she's getting her Funko pop and I'll probably get them down the line

At first I was like “AL”? But upon checking, he only mixed LMG, Bad Girl, GYWYL and Hush Hush on Avril Lavigne, which are all really well-produced and mixed songs, so that’s a good sign. Also, he seems to be a mixer of mostly rock albums, so I wonder if this means we’re getting either a remastered UMS anniversary edition or if the new album will have a darker rock vibe.

Not when the atrociousness of AL exists. It would be great to get a properly produced version of that album.

Yeah, if you take a look at the UMS playlist it says "modified 4 days ago". I don't want to get my hopes up, since this could also mean just creating a playlist for the anniversary, but the fact that Avril and her team know the anniversary is close is a great sign.

I’m sorry but that’s NOT the case with UMS. She literally always said she was much more hands on with the creative process and writing , and the overall sound. She knew exactly what she wanted for that album and her label gave her total freedom. She even tried to push MHE as the lead single , which is the most mainstream song on the album, and played most of the tracks on either piano or guitar on her live shows. She actually loved UMS back in the day, but she was done with the darkness it entailed by the end of the tour and wanted to go for something lighter , and that’s where TBDT came in.
If anything, LG was that album that she almost had no creative input in,, which is fine because she was very young and still trying to figure things out. If anything, LG was the album that made her decide to go into a darker and more rock sound on the next one. In fact, she ditched LG for being too pop during the UMS era, and did the same with UMS for being too dark in the TBDT era, but you can tell she now cherishes that first album a lot and always speaks highly of it.
It’s very common for artists to compare their new work with its predecessor anyways, it’s not so much about how she “was over” an album and more about how that new album stood out and had its own identity.

Can we talk about how they missed a great opportunity to sell the Bite Me leather jacket with the lyrics and album tracks on it? I would’ve snatched one of them right away off her webstore.
Would’ve also been cool to get limited edition replicas of the white guitar with the tracklist written on it.

On the brink of the album’s two year anniversary, I had a listening party and keep thinking how good of an album it is to this day, even years after the hype died down. During the bridge of Avalanche, I just had to say “god, she didn’t have to go this hard and she still did it”. I still freaking love this album and consider it her second best work to date without a doubt. This is Avril at her finest sonically (literally no other sound goes better with her), and while it might not be her best lyrically (I consider it a step down from HAW in that regard) it’s still Avril being unapologetically herself and just giving us that much needed lyrically lighter album after the heaviness of HAW. The album could’ve used a couple of more mid tempos and ballads. Honestly, IAM would’ve fit perfectly somewhere in between the first 5 songs, with another mid tempo to cut the uptempo-ness, and it could’ve been my all-time favorite album from hers. The aesthetic is also one of her all-time best and I love everything about it. The color, the outfits, the album cover and even the hidden meaning behind the shadow of the balloons of the lovers kissing (I just know it wasn’t a coincidence lol) We got signed CDs, great clothing merch, different CD versions, cassettes, cool bundles, and around 5 vinyl color variants. Such a pity she didn’t put them on pre-order from the get go, since it would’ve given her a much higher debut on BB200. The era itself was a completely different thing, and neither the tour nor the promo or execution after album release week were decent enough or did justice to what it deserved. With all this being said, happy 2 year anniversary to Love Sux, the album which put her in the spotlight after more than a decade and consolidated her as the ultimate queen of pop-punk. May the next record be on the same level (or at least half good tbh). I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy a new release of hers so much as I did this one, and I’ll be forever grateful this album exists. Once again, long live the Love Sux era. Time flies right! It's such a good album for me too. The lyrics may not be the most poetic (which it didnt need to be since she wanted a light-hearted album) and there isn't a song that stands out like Girlfriend/Complicated/Sk8er Boi did before, as a whole album I think it works. Cohesive and the energy, the attitude, it's so Avril and so infectious in a good way. To me it's like an older sister of TBDT, with more life experience and reflection on the pain that life brings in an unapologetic and rebellious way. It's definitely in my top 3 Avril album: TBDT - HAW - Love Sux. I still come back to this album frequently to this date. I do think Bite Me, along with Avalanche, are the strongest songs in the album, and Bite Me is the best choice they could’ve done for a lead. I even think it’s her best lead single to date. But yeah, it didn’t really make as much noise as those songs did back in the day, but I blame it more on timing, due to the fact that it was released when both Taylor and Adele were occupying like 50% of the BB100 chart with their album tracks. She didn’t really stand a chance to get a solid charting position. If she had released it halfway through the year, I’m pretty sure she would’ve had at least a Top40 hit.

Who would even want this? I really hope she's not planning on releasing a GH. It would crush what's left of my hopes of getting a 20th UMS edition. There's no way she'll be releasing a GH, UMS 20 and a possible new album this year. She could release a GH literally any year, maybe even for her 25th anniversary, but the UMS celebration is now or never. If she releases this, it's a terrible sign for UMS.
I don't believe she's out of ideas and that being a reason for her doing this whole GH thing tbh. I think the album is done by now, and she's waiting for a good momentum. Probably after the tour. While I could see her releasing a GH now and the new album closer to the fall, I don't see UMS 20 falling anywhere in between if that's the case. It's really unfair this album is being paid dust by her team when 90% or more of the fandom considers it her best work to date, aside from the fact that it's a classic beloved album.
