Reminds me of when she also gave a snippet of a cleaner version of Wish You Were Here which she sang “yeah, yeah, yeah” in place of “damn, damn, damn” and asked if we wanted it for the radio version of the song. Obviously the fans moreso voted for the album version for radio play since we never got a full version of the “yeah” version. Did fans actually choose DTM? I always thought Avril wanted MHE as the first single but the label wanted DTM and obviously won and were wrong as MHE was the bigger single. I thought the only time the fans have actually chosen a single was Smile over Push? Daydream and Don't Tell Me were both released in part to a test market music site that was around at the time (i cant remember the name of it right now) and Don't Tell Me got the more positive response, mostly because Avril was at the time more gunning for a harder sound, so fans were encouraging of that direction. The site would play little snippets of songs and you had to rate them. There was also a call-in option for the site - Daydream had the second verse on that, which is why there is only a grainy version of that (technology was different back then, so someone just recorded it with a microphone while their phone was on speaker haha RIP). It's unclear/unconfirmed whether that was the final decision making process as to why DTM was the lead single and/or why that would explain why Daydream was cut completely. Another puzzling piece is that they SAID outright that they were releasing Take Me Away to radio to release a harder song to go hand-in-hand with the more pop-leaning single, but that doesn't totally make sense since Don't Tell Me isn't that much less pop than TMA but ultimately NO ONE KNOWS and i doubt avril even remembers so it's gonna be a mini question mark forever. and that is the end of your pre-UMS release history lecture, goodnight.

I wish she would do a deep cut slot on tour and just rotate it with great songs that she hasn’t sung in a while (or ever). Freak Out, Unwanted, Things I’ll Never Say, etc would be great to hear now that she somehow can sing songs live in the original key when she couldn’t when she was younger. she's always sung all of those songs in their original keys

anyone else wonder how there’s been virtually no leaks from UMS or TBDT? like… where is she and/or sony storing these songs??? 😭 It's KIND OF understandable because typically things leak at the stage where a lot of people have access to the music (ie when it gets to the point where the record label/test market people are circulating it), unless it's a hacking situation. Avril has said about those two albums that she recorded most/all of the songs "independently", as in she recorded them with her chosen people nd then presented a fuller body of work to the label, as opposed to them checking in and interfering, or having her co-writing with label-suggested writers which would result in the music being sent back and forth. The only notable leak we got from TBDT era was Won't Let You Go, which would have been circulating around due to it allegedly being considered for the Eragon soundtrack along with Keep Holding On.

i wanted to start a thread asking people to list the little things that they changed in the remaster that they liked- just so that we can all maybe hear things that we might have missed; but maybe that's best to just do that here?

I wasn’t sure of the best place to ask this so I figure this thread is good enough. I’m planning an episode for the podcast about Let Go’s anniversary and I’d love to know if anyone has any favorite Let Go era performances or moments? I thought of a bunch to include already but it’s helpful to know if there’s any I might have missed. One set that i always loved is the New Year's Eve performances. Losing Grip especially.

what concerns me about avril doing any kind of anniversary work is that she... tends to not be overly introspective and keep things very surface level. i know the type of interview thing i would want her to do to celebrate Let Go but i don't really see her going in to deep about any of things or even talking much about the non-singles. i feel that my expectations need to be managed. and in case anyone is going to say it, i know she doesn't OWE us anything and that we should be happy for anything, but it's such an iconic album with such layers for someone of that age to have released and i hope that she does it justice.

This constant discussion about "home" being rhymed with "home" is annoying - she was rhyming it with "go" Rhyming structure She wants to go home, but nobody's home A That's where she lies B broken inside B With no place to go, no place to go A To dry her eyes B Broken inside B I've never understood why this is irksome for so many people. That's not what people are referencing. They're talking about the line "She wants to go home but nobody's home." It seems a little redundant, like if you were having a conversation with someone you wouldn't say it like that. You'd probably say "I wanted to go home but no one was there." You wouldn't say the exact same thing you just said, no one talks like that. So it sounds kind of awkward which is why people point it out. She honestly could have probably written that line a little better, like "She wants to go home but nobody's there/There's where she lies, in the middle of nowhere," I don't know something like that that conveys more than just "She wants to go home but nobody's home." I get the criticism with the repetitiveness but i was addressing the people who specifically mentioned the rhyming "home" with "home".

Yeah I agree I'm not quite sure why people made/make such a big deal out of it... Like Avrils elbows are nowhere near Kellys face. The hug was awkward yes but it was also a weird hug attempt in the first place imo, like going for a hug while both are holding onto the trophy is a bit weird if you ask me. I feel like Kelly should've let go of the trophy and maybe go for a one armed hug? And as Bogo said the trophy got stuck to Avrils hair which didn't make the situation any better. In my opinion it was all just bad coincidences / misunderstandings, it's an award show there is alot happening and alot of emotions so yeah things can go wrong, no need to make such a big fuss about it. It's a big deal because lots of Kelly fans on the internet seem to have a long-standing grudge against Avril for that incident. After all theses years, they just won't let it go. Yes but fans are just like that. Some of y'all are still shading Xtina in other threads to this day for something that allegedly happened over 10 years ago haha.

This is fun, but this is NOT a mix that Alex da Kid would make, it's very fan-made

To those who are disappointed about the number of collabs, i think she was also just referring to how many artists she collaborated with in writing/performing etc as well

Eh... that Bite Me performance was a blend of live, auto-tune and lip synched vocals.

You guys are SO negative. That was the most energy/ best performance she’s had in YEARS? LOL The energy was good. Vocals not so much, especially because they auto tuned some parts. SOME? haha

I think it's fine to keep tabs on the climate of the charts etc, but it's not like Adele or Christina are going to keep Avril from scoring a number 1... That ship has sailed.
