Maybe one of her new songs will reference "Bitchin' Summer"? Those pictures are indeed really cute. She looks so happy and healthy. Also, if the dog is still around.... more dog posts, please! They're some of the cutest.

I’m not against mask wearing at all if needed, but honestly I wouldn’t attend a show if I had to wear one. Don’t know what it’s like in other countries where aircon is the norm but concert venues here are generally disgustingly hot. A mask would be so uncomfortable it’d completely ruin the enjoyment. I’ve got a few shows booked for next year, at the moment two aren’t requiring any proof of vaccination/test, and one is. None require masks. Mask wearing has pretty much gone out the window in England lol. I just think shows go ahead but people need to do what they’re comfortable with. If you’re not comfortable attending a show, don’t go. If you want to wear a mask, do, if you don’t, don’t. It's exactly the same here in Germany, concerning concert venues getting awfully hot and uncomfortable, even in winter when it's pretty cold outside. I also wouldn't want to wear a mask in such circumstances, even though I'm 100% for masks if they're necessary and have been since the pandemic started.
And yeah, in the end, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they feel safe enough to go among people or not. I personally don't, but that's because I generally really dislike crowds. In addition to that, only about 60% of people here are fully vaccinated and the number of people infected with COVID has risen again rather fast since last month. Sure, you're only allowed to go to a concert if you're either fully vaccinated or got a negative test result, so the chance of catching the virus is quite low. And even if you do catch it - if you're vaccinated, you're very unlikely to get seriously ill, you might not even have symptoms. But since only about 60% are fully vaccinated here, there are still plenty of people that could get seriously ill. Not all of them are unvaccinated by choice. Very young children or people who can't get vaccinated due to health reasons, for example. While there's no herd immunity in Germany, I still want to be as careful as I can. So for me, it's that mixture of anxiety of large crowds that I've already had long before the pandemic, and the fact that the number of infected people is rather high again and there's still no herd immunity.
I totally understand and think it's good that bands are finally able to tour again. I've been following this topic a bit during the pandemic, and I know a lot of bands, especially those that are less known, have really struggled, some even had to completely quit their jobs and try to find something else. And not just the bands, the touring management, the event organizers, even people like tour bus drivers, caterers, technicians, etc. I'm very happy to see that all these people can earn some money again. And I've also been aware of the fact that COVID will never fully go away and we'll just have to learn to live with it. But again, with only about 60% of the German population fully vaccinated, I feel it's a bit too early to fully go back to everyday life similar to what it was like before the pandemic. I might be extreme in this way, but that's just what it is.
And when I say that I hope Avril will postpone her European tour to 2023, or at least the second half of 2022, I'm aware that it's pretty much completely selfish, because the sole reason I say this is so that I can go see her live when I feel safe enough again. But it also means that if she won't postpone the tour, and it does take place in early 2022, I won't be mad at her or her team. I'll be sad that I won't be able to go see her, but I'll understand their decision.

Hey! I was on vacation last week... What did I miss?
I know Avril went to the VMAs to present an award and that she gave some interviews. I know she told MTV that new angsty, guitar-driven, pop-punk music will be released next month. And I know that she looked pretty radiant in that pink suit imo. I've also seen this commercial where she desperately tried to get a license plate or something that says "Sk8er Boi" lol.
Is there anything else worth knowing about that I missed out on?

I honestly hope they'll postpone the European tour again. I just can't imagine the pandemic being over by spring 2022, meaning going to a concert then might still be risky. At least I feel it's a bit too risky for my liking, despite vaccination and masks. Not that I don't believe in the vaccines; I completely do! But having so many people so close to each other... the thought just makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe. I'd really love to go, though, because it's been 10 years (as I'm posting this, on the hour, exactly 10 years, to be exact) when I last saw Avril live. And this time, she's supposed to come to a city that's just about 30 minutes from where I live. No one ever comes this close to my hometown. I'd hate to miss out on this...

Avril and Mod might still be burning for each other, but I don't think Mod's pants are burning for him because they look like they want to take a hike, lol.
On a more serious note, great performance from Mod, but Avril didn't seem to be into this performance at all. Almost zero enthusiasm and from the bit that I could hear (the crowd was very loud) she didn't seem to hit the notes quite as well as she usually does. And then she left the stage rather quickly, as if she hadn't wanted to be there in the first place. I assume she was just having a bad day, because she's usually a great singer, but her performance, unfortunately, is pretty much as seemingly impassionate as usual imo. I also don't get how come Mod's crazy performances never seem to affect her. Seeing him perform makes it hard for me not to move as well, and I'm sitting on my desk watching a low quality recording with headphones on.

This is unbelievable. Mentioning something as important as tour dates that are less than a year away to a fan via private message. Especially during this time. The pandemic still isn't over, so who knows if the shows may even take place in spring 2022 (I honestly doubt it). But if they do, I'm sure that in most countries, only people who are vaccinated will be allowed to enter the concert venue. That's already the case pretty much everywhere, as far as I know. However, I've heard that some vaccines only keep you immune to Covid for a year or so, I think, so the vaccination will have to be renewed; if you got your first (and second) shot in e.g. February and March of 2021, you may have to get another shot or two (depening on which vaccine you choose, of course) in February/March of 2022. Otherwise, you might count as unvaccinated and not be allowed to go to the concert that you bought tickets for. So, it's really important to let people know in time, meaning more than a few months ahead, when / if the shows are supposed to happen, so people can make sure they're (re-)vaccinated in time.
Of course, people who can should get vaccinted regardless of an upcoming concert they want to attend. But it's still so important to let people know what's going on with the shows. I've just been assuming that Avril and her team aren't sure themselves and are therefore careful to not say anything too soon, but rather wait, see how the pandemic develops, and then either (unfortunately) cancel the tour or postpone it to a time when it's definitely safe/safer and pretty much everyone is vaccinated (which is unfortunately not the case in Germany (and a lot of other European countries, I think), where only about 60 % are fully vaccinated, which is not enough to reach herd immunity). Sadly, knowing Avril's team, I'd kind of expected them to at some point just be like "oh, btw, tour starts in two months" and then those of us who need to get re-vaccinated or haven't been able to get vaccinated yet for health reasons are pretty much screwed. What I hadn't expected, however, is that information concerning the tour would have to come from a fan who was told the information by Avril through a private message. It's so damn unprofessional, and I really don't get why Avril keeps doing that. If she's not allowed to say anything, she surely wouldn't be allowed to say anything to a fan via DM either. But since she did just thatm it probably means she's allowed to say something after all, which then begs the question: Why doesn't she say something publicly? There are tons of fans and casual listeners of her music who bought tickets and never visit Bandaids or don't even know about its existence. Do Avril and her team expect them to just figure out such news for themselves? Or do they expect the fan who got the DM to tell everyone what they were told (great way of making promo without having to pay anyone, I guess). It's just so infuriating, especially because it's not the first time this has happened. But this time, there's a lot of money at play. And people's health. I can't believe Avril and her team are being so unprofessional and... just stupid.

Uh not a fan of "down", sounds like a forced hit. Like they checked all the "hit-maker"-boxes but forgot to add personality and uniqueness.... Tbh I dont expect clever lyrics from Avril this era, cause Mods lyrics are pretty simple as well. I fully agree with this. In addition, his voice also sounds much too autotuned to my ears on this track. I just generally didn't like the production and mixing of "Down"; it really had me thinking "Feldy, what the hell did you do?" and I actually got worried that Avril's new music might sound similarly weak. Then I realized that "Down" isn't produced by Feldy, thank goodness, so now I'm a bit more hopeful again.

If Avril's team really is working on an app for her... meh. At least if it's only for phones and tablets. As many here have pointed out already, there's already limited space on mobile phones. Why use it for an app that'll (knowing Avril's team) probably just get some lame updates in the form of new photos once a month, and then get discontinued after less than half a year? I think if they want to create some sort of fan club / app, they might work with Pillar, which is basically a digital fan club where artists can share exclusive content with their fans, like live streams, unreleased demos, song snippets, merch, etc. The artist will usually also have an account, so you might have a good chance to actually chat with them. Oh, and Pillar is available through app and web browser, so you don't necessarily have to use up your phone's limited space. However, as far as I know, Pillar usually works only with a paid subscription, and while that does support the artist, I have to admit that, when I was using Pillar to get some exlusive PVRIS content, I soon realized that it's probably something better suited for those kind of die-hard fans that basically can't live without their idol and constantly need to tweet about them, lol. And that was with PVRIS posting stuff there regularly. I also noticed that it seems to be quite an echo chamber of people absolutely fawning over their idol. Probably because the chance their idol might actually see their messages is much bigger there than on any other social media. For Avril, however, I honestly see neither a simple app, nor something like Pillar working. Her team is awful. They'd abandon the thing after just a couple of lame posts. I mean, look at Avril's Tik Tok.

I love Yungblud's new song! The instrumentation is amazing, his vocal delivery is full of intension and I of course always appreciate a good outcast/underdog story. Also that guitar solo before the last chorus is everything!! He truly is a modern day punk in every sense of the word I hope Avril's new album offers some songs like this that aren't necessarily bubblegum pop-punk, but still edgy and rock leaning. I see a lot of post-grunge influences in this Yungblud song, which I love. I just hope Avril's album has some variety within the pop-rock genre and that she wasn't afraid of taking some chances. Can't wait for the day we finally get a glimpse into what the new music will sound like..... Holy shit, this song is absolute fire! I agree, the vocal delivery, the guitar solo, and the story are all fantastic. The entire instrumentation is nothing short of great! I guess the only thing that bothered me a bit was that the song ended so suddenly. I've only heard it once so far, though. I also love the video, and his androgynous style is so damn amazing! Unfortunately, seeing as Avril's music has been mostly mediocre at best since GL imo, I don't expect her to do something even close to this. I hate to say it, but I've got to keep my expectations pretty low with her. However, if she does surprise me and put out something like "fleabag", I think I'll be the happiest I've been as a fan since I got to see her live 10 years ago.

I've recently been looking through the booklets / inlays etc. of all of Avril's studio albums and the physical copies of some of her singles that I own, and I noticed that the inlay of the "Nobody's Home" single mentions a website called www.seekingavril.com. I wasn't yet a fan (and also too young to use the internet) back in 2004. The site (obviously) doesn't exist anymore, and a quick search with the Internet Archive only showed me something that looked like Avril's usual website from back then. So now I wonder, what was that seekingavril site about? Does anyone remember?

Honestly, the "new music in 1 or 2 months" news is almost disappointing at this point because, sadly, I don't / can't believe it anymore. I don't think she ever lied to us. I still believe she actually meant for her music to be released earlier and maybe even "throughout the year". Her plans probably got interrupted by something (more or less) out of her control. Still, who's to say the same thing won't happen again? And even if we're lucky and it doesn't... will the new music be worth the wait?
I guess I'm just tired of this "game". I don't want to get excited anymore for something that might not be coming when she says it'll come, or something that I might not even enjoy. I'm gonna save my excitement for when new music is actually released or we at least have a snippet. But the fact that it has, once again, come this - that I and many others here can't even get excited by her saying that new music is basically around the corner - is just saddening. Being a fan of hers has become so exhausting.

"his and hers"? Major cringe! I've also noticed that she's been filming her feet in those Vans slippers a lot lately... I wonder if she's got a sponsorship with them or something? Not that I mind if she earns a bit extra money through little ads like this, it's just something I noticed, and...well, there's nothing else to talk about.

I feel like I'm the only one who's not annoyed by all those Avril/Mod posts, lol. I'm just happy that she's happy. And I'm not waiting for new music from her anymore anyway. I've accepted the fact that it's unlikely we'll get something new this year, so I don't mind what Avril does/posts until then, as long as she's happy. Though that picture of that roughly heart-shaped rock on the beach really is cringey and corny as fuck, lol. Also, I can't at her still promoting "Flames".
