It should also be noted that the ”people” voted for Clinton... she won the popular vote. It was yet again the electoral college that went against that for the 3rd time since 1988.

I don't agree with people "should accept Trump", Hitler also won and people accepted his leading and we all know how it ended .. Trump needs to be stopped now before anything really bad happens. It's even crazy to see how all world is afraid of one person, this tells more than anything! 8 transgender persons committed suicide out of a fear after Trump was elected, muslim are afraid to wear hijab, people of colour are afraid to step outside, people who voted Trump thinks that now is ok to hate against everyone, wtf??just because during this 18 months he said whatever he wanted put so much hate and fear out, and nobody stopped him, where are the morals, and basic human rights?? I understand what you are saying but as with most politicians they say they are going to do this and that but they never do. The comparisons he has drawn to Hitler are alarming, I agree, but I have hope that Congress wouldn't allow him to pass any bills that truly discriminated against people or put them in danger. He might say he wants to do this and that but it's unlikely it'll actually get done. I wouldn't worry just yet. gotta disagree on this one. I see Trump as a Putin, he is leading Russia harming his own citizens and countries around him, killing people around him as a joke, he blew plane over Ukraine, not even to start talk about harm on the lgbt community ect... everybody are saying that this is terribly wrong, but yet nobody is doing nothing, just watching and some people even applauding him. If you try to say something or change you just get killed, cuz everybody is afraid of Putin, and now that Putin can't be happier over Trump victory, I can't even imagine what this two psychopath are gonna do together. I hope that I'm wrong, and that you are right!!

I don't know if I understand it right, and do people vote even count then?

Even if trump takes it easy - his voters don't. I mean people have already been put in danger, Muslims etc, transgender woman had her car vandalized etc. like even if trump takes it slow to show he is a good guy his voters voted for racism homophobia and sexism, and they surely won't be quiet :/

I think if the Republican candidate had been anybody but Trump and they won I think people would be a lot less upset about the result. It was just an unfortunate pairing of basically the 2 worst candidates for each party. I know of people who literally didn't vote for anyone because they just couldn't support any of them. The third party candidates had no shot of winning and the other 2 were basically choosing between which piece of shit you think stinks less. This has to be probably the worst election ever in the history of the United States. We couldn't have ended up with a worse set of candidates to choose from.

I've been a supporter of Hillary Clinton since 2008, so I can't agree with the idea that she was a horrible candidate. I truly believe she could've helped to progress the country and there is no other candidate I would've rather had in the White House. With that said, the reality is Donald Trump is the President-Elect. Regardless of whether one actually liked Clinton or just thought of her as the "lesser of two evils", she lost and this is the country now. I'd like to think none of the appalling, extremist and radical things Trump has said will pass, but this isn't the first time people have doubted him. No one thought he'd become the Republican nominee during the primaries and no one thought he'd actually win the election. At this point, anything is possibly, sadly.

Right but that's why there are checks and balances to prevent the president from being able to just do ANYTHING.

It's a complete and utter shame that you guys were left with two completely awful candidates; a terrible, terrible election which was just a pick your poison scenario - Do you want someone who says the most outlandish things and is clearly unqualified, or do you want to elect someone who is part of a corrupt political dynasty? Choose! Having said that it's the nature of democracy and the vote has to be respected. I wouldn't worry too much about some of his policies (although I'm very worried about his attitude to climate change) as I'm pretty sure lots of them will be blocked anyway. Personally I wanted to see Bernie win, I don't agree with everything he says but imo he was the best out of all the candidates. 8 transgender persons committed suicide out of a fear after Trump was elected As of now, This is unproven and there doesn't seem to be any evidence to back this claim up. www.snopes.com/transgender-suicides-after-2016-election/

Most people don't realize that the USA is not founded on a Democracy but on a Republic. Google the difference. Our electoral system prevents mob rule elections, which has toppled many governments before. The founding fathers knew this well.
Definition:
"In a republic, a constitution or charter of rights protects certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even if it has been elected by a majority of voters. In a "pure democracy," the majority is not restrained in this way and can impose its will on the minority."
