Input devices. The things between you and the computer. I currently use the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate as my keyboard. It's a mechanical keyboard, which means it uses a mechanical switch (most commonly a Cherry MX switch) compared to a rubber dome in normal keyboards. The Blackwidow uses Razer Green switches, which are Cherry MX Blue clones. It makes a distinct clicky sound when keys are pressed, which is very satisfying. Razer keyboards are actually looked down upon in the mechanical keyboard community due to their use of Cherry clones and alleged low reliability, however I have not had any problems with my Blackwidow. I'm planning on getting an IBM Model M: It's a vintage 31 year old keyboard. Why would I want a 31 year old keyboard? Well, it uses buckling springs, which creates a really satisfying typing sound. It's also really durable and well built. You could probably use it as a weapon. That's how sturdy it is. My mouse is a Logitech G502. It's a good gaming mouse. One thing I like is the little button below the scroll wheel which allows it to freely spin without friction.

I don't know where you'd even find one these days, but I remember them well. I haven't actually used a more modern mechanical keyboard, but when it comes to keyboards in general they really don't make them like they used to. Right now I'm using a cheapo Gigabyte K7100 keyboard and a Logitech B100 mouse. They get the job done.

Well, I usually simply type on the keyboard on my laptop. When I switched from my old one to this one I needed a few days to get used to it but now I find it way more comfortable to type long texts. EDIT: Beware, that's not the European layout of the keys pictured below but you get an idea. I still have a rather cheap USB keyboard that I could plug on but I don't do it anymore. The reason for getting it was that I couldn't type on the keyboards at school because they still have those high keys and I was just used to flat keys. And well, we got marks on how many mistakes and how fast we were typing back then. Quite annoying. When it comes to using a mouse... I sometimes prefer the mouse and sometimes my touchpad. Matters on what I'm doing and what my mood is like that day. My mouse is a Speedlink Snappy Smart in red. Nothing special.

Just ordered a Unicomp Model M (modern IBM Model M). Let's see if buckling springs are as good as everyone says they are..

It has arrived, the Unicomp Ultra Classic Model M. Buckling Springs do live up to the hype! It's such a dream to type on. It sounds amazing to type on, as well. People say that they have problems gaming on Model Ms, but I have no problem playing Overwatch on it, even when playing a fast-paced hero like Genji. Buckling springs are one of the heavier mechanical switches, but I find they are just the right weight. Only thing missing is dedicated media keys, but I can just use the extra buttons on my mouse for those. I look forward to any essays I have to type up. I removed my headphones while typing this message so I can really appreciate the typing sound of these buckling springs... Now the next keyboard I should get is a Topre.

Neither a keyboard nor a mouse, but I guess this could be a thread for peripherals in general? I bought a 3rd-gen Xbone controller for my PC:- Hopefully it lasts longer than the slew of other controllers I've owned over the past few years. So far so good. The bumpers feel nice and squishy compared to previous versions of this controller. The d-pad feels a little weird after spending months with a Dualshock 4, but hopefully I can get past that.* The whole thing is super comfortable, nothing rattles, squeaks or feels cheap... I guess there's not THAT much you can say about a gamepad, so here endeth my little review. *Yes, the d-pad matters. It matters in fighting games, or whenever I feel like firing up a Mega Drive/Genesis emulator.

I have never actually tried an Xbone controller I have used Xbox 360 controllers before, until I found out you can use a Dualshock 3 with a PC. Then I found out you can use a Dualshock 4 with PC. I find the touchpad really useful as with the drivers I use it acts like a laptop trackpad. I really want to try a Steam Controller, though.

I find the touchpad really useful as with the drivers I use it acts like a laptop trackpad. I really want to try a Steam Controller, though. DS4 is a fine controller. The only problem is they start randomly disconnecting after a few months of - admittedly heavy - use. I've owned three of them and the exact same thing happened every time. I use a USB cable so it's not a Bluetooth issue. I've also tried multiple wrappers and drivers to eliminate any software issues, no luck. Maybe I've just been really unlucky but I'd say their build quality isn't all that great. I've had similar problems with 1st/2nd gen Xbone controllers, where at least one of the buttons stopped working after a while. Owned four of them. Hopefully 3rd-gen Xbone controllers are built to last, but time will tell. :/ The 360 controller is a classic and the build quality was/is excellent, but the d-pad is horrible. Did I mention that's pretty important to me? I'd also like to try the Steam controller out of curiously, though it seems like a weird experiment to me. Thinking outside the box rarely works out well when it comes to designing gamepads.
