Also I think You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home was not written specifically for the HM movie, it was an early song she wrote, kind of same situation as Crazier I think. I can easily imagine Taylor writing it probably shortly after she moved to Nashville or after her first album, but the theme also happened to fit with HM.

Safe & Sound was released only a month after Ours was released as a single. So I think that both Hunger Games songs still tail the end of the Speak Now era. She was still touring Speak Now then and even performed each song at least once during the final leg of the tour.
And her phrasing “30 songs that were meant to go Red” is so fickle. Because I would think that would automatically take away any chance of a non-album single being included. And that’s also why I think there will only be the 10 minute version of ATW, because the way she phrased that sentence would mean she would have originally wanted two versions of that song on the original album, which I don’t think is true. I would say she originally wanted only the 10 minute version but cut it down to allow it fit. Which would result in one version on the re-recording.
So yes, she wants the re-recordings to match as much as possible, but at the same time, she’s marketing them as “Taylor’s Version” with intent on giving the fans the larger picture she envisioned for each album. So if there was something about the creation, writing, or production of a song that she didn’t exactly want or get the final say on, that she would be okay with making that aspect different on the re-recording. I think Taylor’s version of ATW is 10 minutes long and Big Machine wanted their 5 minute version.
And if Babe and Better Man weren’t already decided against for the original album by the time she cut her list of songs down to 30, then I can see them being included. But I think it’s possible they were cut from list before she got to those 30.

I find it interesting (and frustrating) the website doesn’t list the track list (even with the Vault songs unlisted) like they did for Fearless. Also while I get your reasoning about ATW, I think that might be annoying for some fans if we only have the 10 minute version. I mean I like the song, but I don’t really want to listen to a 10 minute version every time I might want to play it. To have the shorter option along with the full version would be smarter IMO, but we’ll have to see what she does I guess. I found this post a couple of times on IG - it could just be a coincidence, but almost nothing with Taylor is ever a mere coincidence. So what could the 1989 mean? Is it coming in between? Why not announce it? Maybe 1989 will be after Red? Also fun fact: Fans noted that November 19th is 22 weeks after June 18th. How does she think of this stuff? Lol http://instagram.com/p/CQSWItNnJf_

I think she’ll include both versions of ATW. It’s too popular not to have its original (well, originally released) version too.

When I woke up today I was perplexed at why my Avril mailbox was blowing up……….. Then I saw it’s because of Taylor! God Bless Her.

While I would prefer not to wait 5 months for the album, and could fully appreciate it sooner than that, I think that for a lot of people, it would be too much too soon.
Lover to Folklore to Evermore to Fearless TV slowly lessened the gaps between and some people say it wasn’t enough time for them to fully appreciate each. So I’d say in the respect, it makes sense why there will be 7 months between Fearless and Red.
And with physical sales not counting until they are shipped (possibly just vinyls and this tule doesn’t apply to CDs), this may give her enough time to ensure physical versions of the album are ready to be shipped during release week. It gives people more time to be able to afford the next album, as well as merch for those who like to purchase merch.
And I think she would have waited a while longer to announce it, but she probably knew the fan base was going crazy over convincing themselves 1989 was next and would be during the summer. So while there’s a 5 month wait between announcement and release, she puts fans at ease. This early announcement may be why she hasn’t released any further details about the track list. She may want to wait until closer to release to draw back attention to it and hype it.

She also announced it on Scooter Braun's birthday, which I feel was also deliberate on her part.
Some are theorizing 1989 was going to be next but plans needed to change, maybe there was an issue with the rollout, I don't know. It does seem odd that she hinted so much at 1989 on the Stephen Colbert show not long ago, but Red will be next. It's also weird that Wildest Dreams was featured in the Spirit trailer, similar to how Love Story was used in a commercial just before Fearless dropped. I guess fans assumed it would be done the same way.
I did read some other opinions that waiting so long to release is a deliberate strategy to, basically what you said, give fans a chance to actually appreciate and absorb each album in this age of TikTok and 30 minute albums that we just consume and then forget about as we move on to the next thing. There is something really special about the way Taylor has chosen to rollout her previous albums, it calls back to an era when streaming was only just beginning or didn't even exist at all, and you HAD to wait months for an album to come out. Albums were at least 40-50 minutes long on average back then too. Evermore didn't really get its own moment or era because it was tacked on to folklore and then followed quite shortly by Fearless TV. I agree I think she wants fans to able to actually absorb and appreciate everything. Also the general public is probably experiencing Taylor fatigue and it would be wise on her part to space out her releases more to avoid what basically happened to her in 2016.

I brought the record but what’s the TV thing? 3) Taylor produces so much art she has to slow down releases while dear Avy can’t get out one lousy track! PS. Did Taylor make a post about clowns? 🤡

Since there is basically no information about Red TV yet, aside from the cover, release date, and track count, When she finally begins revealing more details, I would love to know her reasoning behind why she felt this album needed to be next.
She explained Fearless very well, it was her breakthrough album, she entered somewhat into pop territory as well as international territory, it was her first album to headline and tour for herself and really get the chance to evolve her relationship with her fans.
Yes, Speak Now was a big deal for her as it was all solely written, aside from one bonus track. But maybe she felt Red was the next big turning point in her career after Fearless. The Debut and Speak Now are both meaningful to her, but perhaps she feels the bigger milestone moment albums need to go first. It’ll be interesting to hear her reasoning.

I kept seeing people on Instagram say “1989 TV” and I was thinking it was some kind of WTH.tv behind the scenes video thing for 1989..!

I found out a couple more interesting things yesterday that may point to what songs will be included from the Vault on Red.
She apparently wrote 2 songs with Ed Sheeran, one of which of course was Everything Has Changed. The other was cut, so it’s likely we’ll hear that one. She also wrote in one of the Lover journals (not sure which one) some lyrics from a song she was writing around that time called “Nothing New.” That might be another contender for the Vault.

30 songs! that's a lot! I'm so curious since this is an album I like. I started listening to her around Blank Space and Style but disovered the album RED later and really liked it too!

Taylor Swift is the Queen of Easter Eggs I'm really excited for her RED (Taylor's Version). I really got into her music around this era.

As well as ATW (obvs) I’m excited to hear Better Man. That’s such a good song.
