Whatever her label situation is, I hope she gets to keep her VEVO account. She has 6 million subscribers there, that's just to much to Let It Go. She will lose her VEVO account in case she goes independent and doesn't have some kind of distribution deal with Sony or Universal. But if not with Epic she is probably still bonded with Sony because no one sign a one album deal... Unless she magically got a deal with Warner Chappell, she will still be able to post on her vevo. It's fairly clear she still has distribution deals with some form of Sony and Universal internationally. It's just a waiting game st this point. Till she releases a single, we won't know where she's signed to if she's signed at all.

She may not be signed with a label but still be signed with Sony. I wonder if that means we'll be seeing more product placement in future videos.

Epic, RCA and Columbia are main label that have their headquarters in the US. All three are part of Sony Music so if a country has a local Sony distributor - this is her ''label'' in that country (Sony Music *insert country name here*). She could be in the process of starting her own label, but I'm almost sure that she will have a distribution deal with Sony. But yeah, we should wait and see. Once the single is out we will see where she's currently at...

I would hope so, unless it's something she can afford to do herself. Music videos can be lower budget and still be good, it depends on Avril and what she wants as treatment. But music videos are insanely expensive. The product placements help pay because record labels sure as heck don't pay entirely. So it's either deal with product placement or deal with the lower budget. *cough*hello kitty*cough*

But music videos are insanely expensive. The product placements help pay because record labels sure as heck don't pay entirely. So it's either deal with product placement or deal with the lower budget. *cough*hello kitty*cough* Yep there was product placement in HTNGU (ICE watch), RNR ("Oh look my new Sony phone is ringing!"), and LMG (the stupid Sony tablet randomly placed in the video ), but no product placement in HK, GYWYL, or Fly (that would have just been tasteless). I'm sure Avril probably COULD afford to pay for a music video if she had to, I remember it supposedly cost $2 million to do Complicated (of course that was back in 2002, so it could be even higher now). But she obviously can't pay for everything herself, even if she is insanely rich. Eventually she would go bankrupt. I don't mind a simple, low budget video if it's done well. A budget does not really mean anything, it's what you do with it that makes the difference. WYWH was obviously low budget but IMO it's one of my favorite videos from her and I think they did a good job with it. WTH probably had a higher budget and IMO looked like crap. I think it's honestly one of the worst videos she's probably ever made (that also contained an obnoxious amount of product placement). The video for GYWYL could have been really cool if she had been able to be in it more without the dumb movie scenes. Her house with the candles and Matt in the background gave the song a nice ambiance. Hiring a good director that knows how to work with what they have is what will make the difference. I've seen plenty of videos that were quite simple and most likely low budget that were excellent and many videos that looked expensive to make that were trash.

I could easily and happily watch a simple vid of her on guitar or piano (or mandolin? . Yes, even rich people don't want to spend down their capital, especially at her tender age. They want to keep earning. That's just natural. And I think it makes sense now: she was perturbed that MZ was trashing the same guy who she has some new co-written tunes with coming out soon. In fact, she may have been down right pissed. You know how she can get. Haha.

Yes, everyone's been talking about it, but we still don't know what that means.

So... I'll tell you guys something, it's all getting a bit messy. A record deal works this way: you sign the deal, and the label decides how they're going to distribute your albums according to what companies they're attached to by some kind of contract. The artist does not participate on this. The label might not have offices in the whole world, so they need these other companies to distribute their products in those locations, and that's why her name is in all of these websites. What we can say is that she's still with Sony, for what we know. She can release her album under Sony Entertainment alone, having her album distributed by these companies you've listed, then that's also really good, it means she's going to have full creativity freedom and yet have her albums distributed worldwide with Sony funding some of her videos or performances (with some product placement, I may say, but if it's done right, it's ok).. Even if they're from Universal, they could still have a joint contract with Sony in some locations for distribution. We'll only know her real situation in the near future but that's my thoughts for now. But having studied a bit about Labels and stuff, I really want her to join Island Records...

Just the distributors for different countries. Universal Music usually handles publishing and distribution.

I think that this is going to be Avril's album. Like no Epic influence. I feel like this one should be titled Avril Lavigne. I'm so excited. I literally teared up. <3

It would be great if Avril could make the album how she wanted but just have Sony take care of the distribution and stuff. That way it's like she has the freedom of an independent artist but still has the resources of a label. I certainly think and hope this album is gonna be better than AL and maybe even better than GL, perhaps like what she intended for GL to be but without the label interference. Will it be better than or reminiscent of LG/UMS/TBDT? Maybe, maybe not. I definitely think it will be better than AL though. (Not that that is hard to achieve ) At the very least it sounds like she has a clear vision of what she wants to do and hopefully it will be consistent throughout and won't be "all over the place" like AL was. Do you think Fly will be on it? I would rather get a new song since Fly was released a year and a half ago already and I don't see any point in putting it on, but maybe if they did a different version with different production or something, it may be a nice "bonus track." It sounds like it would fit the theme she's going for.

Well, Fly wasn't released under Sony Music. So I at least hope that this will prevent it from being on the album. This time she didn't have any songs in-between eras that were hits in Japan (like Alice or Bad Reputation) so she does not have any songs to fill the deluxe with.
