Interesting, let's hope Avril will be on it! Even if Avril doesn't release anything of her own until after that, we'll still have something to listen to. I have liked all of her collaborations so far, Get Over Me, Listen, Wings Clipped... all those songs are very different from each other too. I imagine In Touch is electropop or maybe pop/rock. But it'll be interesting to hear it. Hopefully it isn't scrapped.
I'm most excited about
1) Album name/release date 2) Single name/release date 3) Album Cover 4) Tracklist/Songs Length 5) Checking Bandaids threads for new comments, and discussions 6) Checking the iTunes position/refresh the iTunes page every few minutes 7) The daily radio updates spins/bullet/audience etc things 8) Checking the streaming, youtube/spotify views
I mostly just care about news regarding the single and album, music videos, any radio or TV interviews/appearances, and tour. I'm most excited really to actually hear the album itself, of course. But also the titles, dates, and artwork being revealed. The tracklist of the album and any deluxe editions. I generally care to see where it charts and maybe how well the single charts on radio, but beyond that I don't really care much about sales, charts, or data like that. I'll be interested to see how well it performs and how much the single and album sell in their first week.

I'm curious as to why people are more excited for the single than the album. What if you hate the single? The single is only 1 song while the album is a dozen or more.

Exactly, so many times I've loved an album but not the singles.

Maybe because the single is the beginning of the era officially. All this waiting comes to an end. It's the first news that are coming after a long time, so the excitement reaches the maximum Of course, after a few listenings, the excitement goes off and then, a new one comes, the one about the album

And frankly she hasnβt had a great lead single since TBDT. Hopefully the lead for this era is actually representative of the album and isnβt just some generic pop radio hit with no meaning.

Oh, you mean being excited in general. Being excited about the single is maybe something more... "in the moment" thing. For example, us. Last year we were more excited about the album than the single itself. But now, because we are more impatient, after all these false signals that the album was close etc, the lead single seems something more exciting than the whole album. We know that the album will come after the single, maybe months later (like AL), so we are looking forward to this precious tweet "Hi guys! I'm excited to announce that my new single "__" is coming on"__".

I'm always excited when the tracklist is revealed. Seeing how many ongs there'll be, any bonus tracks, trying to guess what each song will be about or sound like from the title. I love that stuff

Personally I look forward to the lead single in the hope that is a powerful and moving ballad. If this weren't the case it doesn't matter, even a lead single less busy and lighter like the last ones I would be equally excited for the record and the start of the new era

I'm curious as to why people are more excited for the single than the album. What if you hate the single? The single is only 1 song while the album is a dozen or more. For me it is because it sets the mode for the album. How i am supposed to interpret it. Like yes, it is Avril who tells a story. But i tend to dream myself to my own "reasons" for the specific song. And in that way the single gets a tad more exciting to wait for. I should know from experince that the first single (not only Avril) is usually the stand out song and doesnt always represent the album. But it gives a direction. So im like 99% excited about the single and 98.99% excited about the album The 1% is reserved for me not liking it
