Another fun fact is that all the music videos got better score in total than last year. Hello Kitty got 6.67 in 15 and 6.83 now. Wish You Were Here which dropped out of the top 10 had a score at 8.451 last year and now 8.75.

My album ranking: 1. LG 2. TBDT 3. UMS 4. GL 5. AL For whatever reason her "serious" and "mature" albums are always going to outrank her "fun" ones, despite the actual quality of the music. IMO TBDT far exceeds GL. The production and overall creativity is way better. GL has a nice concept but poorly executed, outdated sounding production, and overall is nothing super special to me. It lacks in a lot of areas, particularly the songwriting and production. I'm hoping that her 6th album will be similar but done 1000x better. Make it actually sound like it's from this decade and not a 1990 reject Alanis album. Well, in all fairness, Blink 182 and Green Day both released albums this year that sound so early 2000's, and yet have been extremely successful. Should we really think that the sound is THAT important as far as success goes? What if Avril released an album with the same sound than UMS (heavy guitars and piano, mid-tempos), or a punk-pop album like TBDT (with more mature lyrics) would it be doomed to fail? The mysteries of music...

I'm a bit sad to see the music video for He Wasn't at such a low rank. It's one of my all-time favourite music videos out there. What do people dislike about it?

I always connected more to TBDT and GL. GL was also her first era that I followed from the very beginning. I never liked LG sans the singles and UMS was always "too noisy" for my taste (minus a few songs). I forced myself to like songs like HTNGU and RNR from her self-titled but at the end I only liked GYWYL and the last three songs...

I think He Wasn't should be WAY higher! I don't get what people don't like about the video? Her energy in it is so great, definitely one of my fave videos. I also quite like Losing Grip even though there isn't much to it and there's no plot. But it looks cool. Never liked Hot at all and I think RNR is overrated. It loses its novelty after you've seen it once or twice. I always loved TBDT video but I understand it's too pink and sparkly for most people.

What if Avril released an album with the same sound than UMS (heavy guitars and piano, mid-tempos), or a punk-pop album like TBDT (with more mature lyrics) would it be doomed to fail? The mysteries of music... I get what you're saying but I think if an artist wants to do "retro" music there's a way to produce it so that it sounds retro instead of outdated. Ariana Grande is somebody I can think of who accomplishes this VERY well in her music. A lot of her songs are reminiscent of '50s pop music or '80s pop but they still sound modern and current because they blend new styles with the old. It's a hard thing to get right but some artists do manage to pull it off. It just takes the right producer. There re would be nothing wrong with Avril going back to her roots and using heavy guitars and drums in her music again but they have to do it right. If the album sounded exactly like a copy of UMS it probably wouldn't sell because that type of music isn't popular anymore. When I go back and listen to pop/rock songs from 2004 it really does sound out of date. Almost like you can tell that's what year it came from. The way that Bad Girl was produced, for example, is the way they should go about it I think if she were to do that kind of music again.

My rank is this: 1. GL 2. LG 3. UMS 4. TBDT 5. AL But it's my taste, not that I think that GL is her BEST album musically, it's just my favourite, and I didn't let this influence my vote. Quality-wise, Let Go still remains her best album, but will soon be dethroned Why not influence your vote? Isn't that what this is all about ?

The music video of Fly wasn't on the list? I'm happy for the position of WTH video, for me it's one of her best video.

I had to write down 1 and 1 song. And write 10 alternatives for each song.. so it will be on the list again next time!

Music Videos: 10-4 10. Alice – 8.78 (-3) 9. Smile – 8.81 (+11) 8. Here’s To Never Growing Up – 8.84 (+2) 7. Girlfriend – 9.0 (-1) 6. Sk8er Boi – 9.13 (+2) 5. When You’re Gone – 9.13 (=) 4. I’m With You – 9.15 (=) The only change is Smile taking a big jump that moves it from a #20 to #9 "That's why i smile .. It's been a while"

I wonder why Smile got such a big jump. It's an alright video for me but would have been better without the slo mo black and white scenes. IMO it disrupts the flow of the video.

I wonder why GL gets so much hate here. Yes it csn sound boring because of the ballads but it's still a great album.

It's my favorite video, I really love the black and white shots, there's a story behind it! But I can imagine why some people think it's too slow for the video. But I love it! Best video
