Really won't be surprised if she signs a record deal with Sony Music Japan and leaves US behind

That's why Japan is important even she's not that big in US. Not only in Japan but many Asian countries supports her always, that's why she keeps coming back here.

Unfortunately due to her popularity in Asia she mostly concentrates on touring and promotion in Asian countries. The last era was mostly concentrated on the Asian market and most of the tour was there as well. I hope the next era will not be like that but I'm thinking it most likely will be especially if she has no label support. It's unfortunate for all her fans in Europe, Australia, SA, etc. that don't get to see her as much. It becomes a vicious cycle where she only does heavy promo in Asia because that's where she's popular but she retains her popularity because of the promo. Don't she/they think if they made the effort to promote her more in the US, Europe, etc. that she could regain her popularity back there too? I understand visiting Asia a lot if that's where your core fanbase is but it's not like she needs the promo there if people already love her. They would buy anything she releases. Places like the US, Europe, Australia, etc. are where they need to do more promo, not places where she is already popular.

By that logic Taylor Swift shouldn't promote in the US because she's gonna sell a million copies first week there anyway, and that's not true. An artist's main market should always be the best promoted since it's easier to make potential buyers actually buy her new music. Sony Music Japan is most of the time her only label that has a marketing plan and not just some random cooking show appearances. And it's not like she promotes her albums for six months there and doesn't leave the country. She goes there for the first week promotion and comes eventually back when the tour stars or for some other events. The problem is that her Japanese label is the only one doing its job right and we think that she's focusing too much on Asia.

Japan seems to have a different attitude to music. There is value to owning a physical copy of an album and being a collector, getting all the merch etc. There also seems to be a lot of loyalty.

Well there's a difference between doing promo and booking gigs... She didn't perform on notably more Asian tv shows/. It's a shame that she can't book any of the summer festivals in the UK/Europe but that's not where her money comes from.

Ikr, I know she'd be able to play at some pretty big festivals here in Belgium.
