But why are you assuming this is about a one night stand? She was a teenager when she wrote this, it was likely about some guy she had a crush on. Yes in TINS the point is that she is talking about all the things she wants to say but never will. Hence the cheeky double entendres and the pause between the dirty line and the actual line.

With regards to the 'Unwanted' lyrics, I believe it is actually as follows:
I tried to belong It didn't seem wrong My head aches Its been so long I'll write this song If that's what it takes
I believe this to be a reference to her anger at not being accepted by the authority figures (i.e. the boyfriend's family). The song sets out a story of her trying to fit in and be accepted by the subject's family. Given the time difference cited by the lyrics (it's been so long..) I'd view this as Avril venting her fury at a failed relationship in her past, due to her then partner's family diasapproving of her, for reasons probably only known to those involved. This may have been something that particularly bothered her, and so writing the song was her way of venting her anger at a past event that upset her, based on the line 'I'll write this song / If that what it takes'. Perhaps she had been dwelling on this event for ages, and her method of dispelling it, making it less of an issue, was to write about it and therefore 'shouting it to the sky' for all to hear. Somewhat like a 'talking therapy' but via music and more public.

That's not a metaphor. It's an interpretation. But appreciated none the less!

That's not a metaphor. It's an interpretation. But appreciated none the less! Thanks! My mistake here! I would argue that these lyrics are not actually metaphorical, but rather more literal (as opposed to '...go down, on me one knee' at least!) I hope at least an interpretation might help with the translation process, potentially!

"I wake up in the morning, put on my face. The one that's gonna get me through another day" she's putting on a mindset for the day/ could be interpreted as putting on make up.

I have never in my life thought that Sippin on Sunshine was about oral sex... is it really? I don't believe it. I think it's just about having a good time in the sun (and maybe being a lil flirty) ??
it's my summer jam!

That's exactly what she's referring to. It's a metaphor because she doesn't literally take off her face each night and then put it back on in the morning. It's her metaphorical face, the side of herself she shows to the world while hiding other parts of herself. Like how she isn't necessarily naked in front of the person in the song just metaphorically, because she doesn't hide anything from them. I really don't think it is. It's like when people were saying Adele's "Chasing Pavements" meant masturbation because someone probably made it up online since the phrase sounds nothing like what they claim it's about and no one has ever heard anyone use it in that way.

Hush hush is a metaphor about her singing her future child to sleep. She's telling herself to live her life and have a baby so she can sing the baby this song in the future. She's telling herself to say goodbye to the person she was in the past because pregnancy can change you. She didn't mean to fall in love or kiss the person who turns out to be her future baby daddy. She tries to forget him because she can predict the future. She knows that she and her baby daddy are going to have a fight and split up so she tells the baby to never say a word about the things they have heard.

Well, both the "Put on my face" and the "Naked around you" lyrics are so obvious that they don't really rise to the criteria of a metaphor. I mean, only little kids wouldn't understand what she's really saying. Very similar phrases have been used in both music and literature many times before, so much so that it's not that it's not even unique here.

I never thought Hush Hush was about that, I've always thought it was about saying goodbye...
