I don't take much issue with her sharing an opinion, however let's be real, all 2016/17 has seen is celebrities seemingly oblivious to the fact not everybody is a multimillionaire living in a gated community and shock horror, those "deplorables" don't share their ultra-liberal views.

btw, she started to follow him only recently (prime minister I mean). yes she watched the election flow on TV (maybe), but it hardly proves her political interest - she lives not alone (*turtle emoji here*) and she lives in US, so because everyone was talking about it and watching it, she did so. I am 100% she is apolitical AF. x^D

Everyone has the right to speak up and talk about politics, no matter if you are a singer or a teacher or whatever. You don't need to be a politician to support equality and fundamental rights. I'm not expecting her to hold a speech on a protest, but as a woman with power and a lot of people listening to her, I expect her to support certain things, for example the women's march. There is a difference between going all hillary Clinton like Katy Perry did and being a full activist or doing the least you can do by spreading the word about equality/racism/etc. And if she says she supports the women protesting against sexism or supports LGBTQ-marches, what fans would she lose? She doesn't need sexist fans anyway. Especially when she tells Mark Zuckerberg to stop 'bullying' her ex-husband and tells him to use his voice and power for better things. While she remains silent on anything that has nothing to do with her or is promoted by her foundation. Sorry, off topic I know. Just wanted to share my opinion. We can go back to social media topic now I second that. There's a difference between propaganda or imprinting ones beliefs/ political views/opinions etc on somebody and speaking up or simply sharing them in puplic. I don't think Avril would loose fans just for speaking her mind, because after all that's why so many people fell in love with her in the first place. I actually think she started off quite feministic and thought given and has gotten more quiet about politics and basic human rights within her further career. I don't know why though, cause I wouldn't take her -even now- for a person who's caring a lot about what other people say. I could guess that her basic interests have changed, but I actually don't wanna try to analyze her that deeply.

No I'm bloody sick of millionaires telling the working class how to vote and what to think. Trump and Brexit should've shown the rich and famous nobody cares what they think. Forever thankful she doesn't feel the need to lecture us all. Ironic, since Trump supporters are constantly telling me how to live my life. We all have the freedom to voice our political opinions as we're all citizens of a country... none of us are politicians (unless somebody here really is), so I'm not sure why millionaire celebrities should stay quiet but working class people can run their mouths on social media. I'm not a millionaire, but I certainly do not care what a Trump supporter thinks... they tend to be the ones doing the lecturing, and there are plenty of conservative celebrities out there.

It's ok what she decides and judging for what we have seen, she decided keep off about political theme.. But I have to confess that I would like she tweet or uploads a pic on instagram with words of encouragement for people that are fighting for freedom and dying daily in my country VENEZUELA

According to my perspective, I don't think Avril has to be open with her political views. I can understand why some people don't want to be involved with it because politics can be a very divisive subject.
For example, once a famous Youtuber named JonTron has opened his political views on a video, believing that black people are the ones who cause higher crime rates in the USA. After doing so he got backlash by large amounts of people, and was dragged onto heavy situations that he didn't want to deal with. One of the biggest lessons he said is to never talk about politics, because this is what you're gonna face.
It could be the same for Avril of why she doesn't want to be open with her political views. But other than that I totally respect her decision. If she doesn't want to get into it it's fine by me. I'm not this kind of person where someone "has to be" into politics in order to make them look smart or superior. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing. Simple.

^ if you are a racist, then yes, you are better off to not express your political views on youtube for your own ass safety. but Avril is only HelloKitty-like "racist" this concern isn't relevant to her. again, i repeat, I am sure she just doesn't have political views.)

I didn't agree what he said either, but that's what the video was about when he was expressing his political views. He admitted that it was his mistake to open it up, and should've kept it for himself. Also, what do you mean by Avril being only Hello Kitty-Like "Racist"? I'm not sure what you meant here.. Yeah I guess so. Probably it's just not her thing and that's it.

Yeah many people thought the music video was racist when it clearly wasn't. I guess it's because many people didn't understood it much and that's why they thought of it this way.

I appreciate that Avril doesn't open her political voice. Maybe it's something important if you think you can change something, and it's a huge part of our existence, but I'm out of this, literally I've lived in the three different countries living in the same place where I was born, so...

I still struggle to understand how that even happened. I mean, look at the video. You can criticize basically everything from Avril's outfit to the refrigerator-like lighting, and people chose to make up some racism issue out of a quite brief scene that has itself more evident weak points. It's like they had to cut meat and they were given a zillion knives but chose to use a spoon instead. My two cents on this issue; I think she is just discreet. She probably cares about many current issues but she keeps her opinion to herself because that's what she thinks that's right. To me is more an ethic code of not influencing anyone rather than ignoring reality or not giving a shit about it. She probably also understands her political beliefs as part of her personal life and we all know how careful she is about keeping that private
