Avril was a copycat of 1982 joan jett for Let Go and this sounds like the non ballad let go tracks which is runaways with joan jett before she went solo. UMS yes but I don't listen to LG and have not since 2010 and doubt i will ever listen to LG again except tracks on audience recording |

I agree Joan Jett was definitely first. Most people my age only know her for I Love Rock N Roll and Bad Reputation, which Avril covered. It definitely sounds a bit like Avril and the band. Especially the first song intro. So Avril wasn't the first to lead a rock band as a female or have the heavy guitars, but at the time LG came out, there wasn't anything being currently marketed that sounded like that (not that I know of anyway). We were getting a lot of pop type stuff. I think that's what made it work, that and the general quality of the songs (the ballads/slower stuff especially).

Avril had so many copycats and made such an impact, that any young female artist making pop-rock music was compared to her. Have to say though that she had some really good copycats - Katy Rose, Skye Sweetnam and Lillix were all amazing artists, to just name a few. |

I never liked it live until she started singing it in its original key. Whenever she sang it in a lower key I feel like it just made the song sound really flat and dull with like zero emotion. When she sings it higher it sounds a lot better and she also seems to sing it with more emotion.
