Her most commercial era but again wrong singles choices xD. Actually I like hot a lot but wasn't successful as single.
I would've chosen 2 bratty songs (for her image at the moment) and 2 ballads.
1- Girlfriend
2- WYG
3- Runaway / I can do better
4- Innocence
I think one of the reasons people loves WYG it'a because of the Music Video, but I think I Will Be would have been less successful because it actually was a single for Leona and kind of flopped.

Can I just say? One Of Those Girls has been my jam for weeks. So random, no reason or anything. I have always loved it, so why do I love it more now? Lol It's just the number one Avril song stuck in my head lately.

The drums. Maybe because Travis Barker played them? Idk but they are loud and well played. I love it. It sounds like a punk record but like motherfuckn princess style.
The fact that she plays that whole character helps too. It may be sound bratty but she's standing up for herself too.
The aggressive guitar especially in ICDB (also the drum intro) sounds so good too. Lots of fist pumping and screaming out the lyrics when I listen to this record. It's my go to boy bashing anthems album.
You don't need to listen to the songs in order but if you do it transitions well from motherfucking princess to the girl who is a hopeless romantic.
My favorites musically and lyrically are ICDB, Innocence (it is such a well written song), WYG, Contagious, OTG. Overall, I like all the songs on the record and it was the era that I became a hardcore fan.

This record also had REALLY nicely done acoustic tracks, something we have not gotten since this album. (Adia, sk8er boi, I can do better)

Am I the only who think the management wanted to prove the vocal ability by releasing When You're Gone and Hot? BTW, I feel like Hot was so underrated if talking about how popular could be of a sex hint song nowadays.In addition, the live performances are the most professional of her entire career

I'm not gonna lie, when "Girlfriend" first came out I was so disappointed and confused. And even once the rest of the album came out, it was my least favorite album. But the more I had listened to it and even as I've gotten older (I'm 24 now and I was like 13 when the album came out) I began to appreciate it more. I think since Avril came out when I was 8 years old and she had changed the game for me when it came to female singers back then. She is my biggest inspiration to become a singer/songwriter myself - since she was like a tomboy and didn't need to be this sexy, dancing pop star like everyone else (at the time) to be successful and talented. So when TBDT came out I was like "Whoa... This is not what I was thinking she would do." But now I get it. And I love the album. Some of my favorite Avril songs come from this album! (Sorry for the long-ish post  ) |

Yesterday I listened to TBDT again, it was a veru long time ago that I did (more then a year I guess).
I came to know that her vocals in EBBY sound very much the same as her voice on UMS.
Also I got memories of how I listened to this record everyday when it came out in 2007 as I was in de bus and train to school in 2007.

TBDT is probably the album with my least favourite songs on it as a whole... I like Hot and WYG but I have to be in the right mood to listen to the album all the way through. It's very bratty, immature and upbeat which worked well when I was younger but now that i'm 30, it tends to annoy me a bit. Girlfriend was a great single for her, but it's certainly towards the bottom of the list for favourite singles.

Ahh... the one I always jokingly refer to as "the pink album" (seriously it's even in her hair!). While the vibe is a girly punk/pop album geared toward the younger crowd, it surprises with some really hard hitting songs. I love going on a road trip and just blasting IDHTT, EBBY, or ICDB. Some of my personal all time favorites are on this album just for the pure speed/rage of the songs. They're great for just dumping all your frustrations out and singing at the top of your lungs. I even enjoy tracks like Hot and Contagious. This one lacked some of the edge that made me like Avril in the first place, but I think we all knew what we were getting when Girlfriend hit the radio waves. Had there been no electric guitars/drums in this one, I think I would feel a totally different way.
