I wonder why they left those summer song on the album when finaly they decided to release it November? I like the summer songs... maybe they liked them and decided to keep them because why not? they weren't going to release them as single, so even if the album was released in November, it didn't matter, only the few people who would still buy the album would get to hear those songs, so why bother?

I mean to be fair, it was summer by then in the southern hemisphere. And maybe some people go on vacation to islands during that time of the year, so they could listen to those songs. I mean, just because the album was released in November doesn't mean they can't have summer songs because sooner or later it will be summer and people can still listen to the songs.

It always bothered me how the artwork was so dark and plain and didn't suit more than half the album. It was like it had a split personality. Just looking at the artwork you would never expect songs like SOS, Bitchin Summer or YASNY

Pros: - If you're looking for variety, this certainly has that - I like that she tried some new sounds on this album and explored some song topics she hadn't talked about before - Some of the songwriting is creative and clever Cons: - Too "all over the place," there is no consistency in either sound or image with this album - Her voice sounds too autotuned or shrill in most of the songs - Production is horrible on most of the songs, too pop, too artificial sounding - There is no proper thank you to the fans in the booklet - Album photoshoot isn't really anything special, hate the cover, and there aren't many photos included - The whole album just feels very lazily put together Overall this is for sure my least favorite of her albums. It just feels like it lacks that certain "Avril touch" that her other albums, even GL, have. The whole thing feels like no effort was really put into it, the album itself lacks direction, and it just feels like a collection of songs rather than a cohesive album. That being said, I do like many of the songs on their own. 3/5

If it was a double release with the tripod songs on one edition and the hitmakers stuff on the other one, it woud've been much better. And I'm sure the era would've went in a better way. From late 2012 to late 2014. Both Epic and Avril would've been satisfied. (And us too )

In all honestly, as someone mentioned before, the songs indevidually aren't bad at all. It's when they're put in a record in that particular way that makes it bad.
Not to mention the obvious "pay back" Martin Johnson got after the whole drama between he and Avril by leaving glitches in songs. Either that or he's just that bad of a producer, because all of the songs he got credit for producing on were done so poorly.
17 deserved better.

Martin is for sure a bad producer, at least on this album he was, but I have to point out that there's a difference between producing a song and mixing. Those glitches are the fault of the mixer, not the producer.

You would expect quite a dark album with that cover!

IMO, the song falls flat because most (if not all) of the instruments are fake and it makes the song sound flat and hollow. Especially compared to the live version she performed in the Viper Room before the record was released. But that's just my opinion.
