Well, to be honest I went through sort of a vey interesting psychological process in my relationship with Hello Kitty. Martin Scorsese finds it interesting too and he is having Eddie Redmayne to play my brain and Meryl Streep to play Hello Kitty. When I listened to it for the first time I remember I was just indifferent. Not only to the song, but to the world itself. Sort of a post-traumatic stress. Slowly I came back to reality. My one hope was that no one, ever, found out about that song-at least amongst my acquaitances. I devised a very detailed plan involving some unicorn blood, some hacking, the unexplainable sudden simultaneous activation of fire sprinklers in several SONY music headquarters all over the globe, a massive nocturnal break into several millions of malls and music retailers, three dozen trailers in each continent, two container ships and a big burning hole in Turkmenistan, but by when I almost had the unicorn, Avril launched the video. I went through a long, long phase of a blend between rage, denial and over all, embarrassment. Embarrassment on behalf of Avril, and also on behalf of myself for watching the video. It was such a mess in every possible sense. And then the racist issue came up. At first I thought i was just under the influence of the many painkillers I was taking, but no, it was happening in real life. I don't remember anything afterwards, until I woke months later in a scientific base in Antarctica. The doctor there said I had been repeating "Hello Kitty, Kiitty, you're so pretty, pretty" in a loop ever since they found me 3 miles away from the magnetic south pole in the Marie Byrd sector, pulling a baby stroller full of (frozen) bricks. With time however, I've come to terms with both the song and the video. Now I regard it as one of those embarrassing things we do during our childhood because we thought that they were funny that haunt us for years, until we finally accept that we were children and it happened and was actually funny-for a brief while lol. I don't think I'll ever listen to it willingly again, but I don't hate it either.

Hope to see ya more often! I agree. I felt embarrassed too, and kind of felt sorry for her. I was even shy to say I was an Avril fan at that time because the song and video seemed way over the top and was almost a parody of herself. But, as 3 years have gone by, I have actually kind of forgotten about it and I believe that most people have as well, at least people from the GP. As long as she never makes a song like this again, I am fine with it.

I love this song. I danced to it in my school in 2014 and it was so funny.

When I first listened to it I was like okkkk.. As I hadn't really heard of lavigne (I was researching all her music at the time) but I listened to it again and before I knew it I was still in the same position for an hour and a half listening to HK😏💪 not many people like it and it was like girlfriend in a way- new style, risky but badass and damn awesome! I can lip sync this song really well so at least u learn a but of Japanese which is culturally diverse! What is heartbreaking is that lavigne was so proud of her song before it was released- she proper promoted it and said everyone would love it, yet it sticks out from her album a little too much and after all that effort I wonder if she regrets it The lyrics are funny and I love them.. A lot especially with the double meaning lol 😂

I don't think Avril regrets releasing Hello Kitty. I don't honestly think she really gives a damn what people think of her music. I can't see her really being like that.

Hello Kitty was so awful live. I hope she doesn’t perform it anymore. Not to mention that if she tours in the future, it’d be nice to focus on the new album and the songs about her illness. Hello Kitty doesn’t fit with that and it wasn’t a hit.

I don't like it. I don't hate it. I just don't care. I have nothing negative to say. It's just not the kind of music I would ever listen to. I have no problem with it being a one off novelty song. I can't be bothered to criticize music I don't care for. There's just too much of it. I'll never understand people that lose their minds and endlessly flame artists or music they don't like. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Don't buy it. That's the only vote you get.

Love this song so much. It's so different from some of her other music. The music video is cute and adorable. People judge me when I defend it but screw them! Hello Kitty for life! There's also this fan made rock metal version on YouTube that is SO KICKASS! It's amazing go check it out. I listen to that version along with the album version. KAWAII. Love Love Love I'm sorry not sorry lol
