I love Tomorrow so much. It is kind of too sad though to listen to it everyday. That is probably the reason why I always listen to it when I have a really bad day/time. Whenever I was depressed or felt lost I ended up lying in my bed and listening to this song. So it is a special one for me.

Gives me hope. Darlin is another song that helps when I am feeling very shy and scared of whatever is in my head. I suffer from anxiety so these songs help me go through it even if they are very simple and basic. I think it's because it's Avril's voice like she is a friend there getting me through it. But then there are other songs like Slipped Away and Goodbye and I don't feel anything but boredom. So what's up with that lol. It's funny how music touches people differently.

Slipped Away makes me sad but agree on Goodbye. I don’t get it. There’s nothing to it, emotionally or quality wise.

I think I understand why Goodbye would be boring to some of you. I would not listen to it a lot either. I love the emotions in the song though. Slipped away on the other hand is one if my favorite tracks.

Let Go (her peak) and TBDT (her re-peak) are Avril's biggest, most iconic, impactful & remembered albums by far. UMS doesn't deserve to be grouped with LG imo, especially when we talk about Avril's success and legacy.

that's bold to say bro hahaha
i think what UMS did was just maintaining her success, especially among the fans. it was number 1 on several countries and reached number 1 on billboard while LG didn't. I'm not saying it was more iconic 'cause that's not the case. But I think it was perfect follow-up to LG, it seemed more mature (even tho the lyrics were not the best), it was also darker and she started to be more respected. MHE is one her biggest hits, and the overall album screams middle 2000's, i think that's why it's iconic. Your typical emo album from an angry teen.
TBDT is iconic now 'cause it aged well, but the truth is it was a disaster back in the day. Apart form big hit miss GF, the album overall was seen as a failure back then. Everyone started laughing at her again and kinda lost respect form GP. she also lost many fans and (at the time) gained a lot of children fans and that made her seem more childish.
WHG was great but then Hot came in, and the era kinda ended before releasing one of her worst music videos (TBDT). even tho GF was huge, TBDT did more damage to her than UMS did (back in the day). I insist that nowadays it's different. People who didn't live that era look back and think she was so cool and edgy but that's because now it's all about divas and they love sassy-bratty-bad girl avril.
even tho, a totally respected opinion. I actually understand your point. UMS didn't seem so revolutionary or huge cause it didn't have a massive hit like GF or Complicated but again, i think ums did great at maintaining her into the spotlight and (apart from he wasn't) ums presented 3 of her best singles in terms of quality, melody and lyrics.
justice for ums </3 haha

As someone who isn't a huge fan of UMS, I'd argue it is among her most iconic albums/eras. LG, UMS, and TBDT are what most fans would consider to be her most iconic and successful albums/eras. UMS was a very successful followup to her debut, which is where a lot of artists actually fail, known as the "sophomore slump." She didn't have that. It definitely sold less than LG and didn't have as many hits, but it did hit #1 on the charts and sold a lot more copies in its first week than LG or TBDT. She had one hit song from that record that's still loved today. Her overall image that era was iconic and she started to sell herself more as a "mature singer/songwriter" then. I'd argue that UMS will always be looked upon by fans as one of her most iconic eras, right along with LG and TBDT.

Hot and TBDT weren't so popular. She indeed became more of a star for kids. UMS was the perfect follow up for fans I think. I think the fans from the start were still there with her during UMS. She lost a lot when TBDT came out. After that albums I don't think there were huge changes in losing or gaining fans. Personally HAW is a real comeback and I think with that one some old fans could come back to being a fan but I'm not sure.

After UMS, TBDT sort of disappointed me. I wasn’t expecting that. I think it’s the album I listen to least.

After UMS, TBDT sort of disappointed me. I wasn’t expecting that. I think it’s the album I listen to least. Same.. I listen to it the least and in the past when I didn't listen to it so often anymore I played it while it was a summer day and I drove in my car but lately I did that again since the weather was nice and I was like: I put TBDT on, and it didn't got me anymore. Girlfriend is nice but the rest isn't my thing anymore at all. Sorry TBDT.. I don't have that with all her other albums tho. TBDT really is my least fave.

I like TBDT but it’s definitely not the direction she should’ve gone with after LG and UMS.

Unpopular opinions? Well I say Wish You Were Here is the best single released by Avril because of the raw emotion in it. I have seen it criticised for sounding "childish" or "wow, look at her, she's saying damn like she is edgy" but these complaints are ones I do not understand because most of the song is a lot more mature and deep than it first appears. The bridge is so beautiful as well, the way she says "let go". I like how she shouts out Let Go the album here, and then later in Souvenir she says "wish you were here".

I like TBDT but it’s definitely not the direction she should’ve gone with after LG and UMS. I think in general the direction was fine -an upbeat, less angsty album was probably a good idea - but they made it sound too samey. No album really needs GF, ICDB, TBDT, EBBY and IDHTT, especially when 4 of those 5 songs appear in the album's 1st half. She should have cut some imo for some songs that were still upbeat but maybe talked about different topics and had a less bratty sound. They should have mixed the songs up a bit more too. Contagious and OOTG sound like they're just tagged on the end as an afterthought.
