The turn of the new millennium was the golden age for pop punk, so we head back in time to reveal our favourite pop punk bands of all time… With the release of Blink-182’s seventh album on the 1st of July, we asked ourselves whatever happened to the once-thriving world of pop punk? Where once the airwaves on both side of the Atlantic were filled with a mix of teen-angst and puerile lyricisms, now Mark Hoppus and co. seem to be the sole survivors flying the flag for mainstream pop punk. So, if you’re feeling nostalgic, grab your Converse, dust off your skateboard and join us on our countdown the greatest pop punk artists of all time. 6. Avril Lavigne
Just missing out on the top five, but probably winning the worldwide competition for wall-space on teenagers’ walls in the 00s, is Avril Lavigne. The Canadian beauty burst onto the scene with Let Go in 2002 and didn’t look back. Proving girls could be just rebellious as boys, she produced some classic pop punk hits, before branching out into more pop- and electro-orientated tracks later in her career. She may have switched youthful rebellion for outright sex appeal these days (not that we’re complaining!), but her earlier work makes her our all-time favourite rock heroine. www.fella.com/life/fellas-guide-greatest-pop-bunk-bands/

I don't know if it's an idea but there's recently a considerable amount of articles talking about pop-punk and Avril nostalgia. It's like they're realizing the mark Avril's left on that music scene.

Of course Avril influenced those pop-punk guys and girls who got the wave after 2002. Even in my country. blink, sum 41, Green Day and Avril were my jam I believe those who started earlier hated her and considered her as a poser. But her influence, especially on the girls, is unconditional

I'm triggered by the fact that they called American Idiot a "rancid mess."

I just fucking love her. From day 1 of hearing Complicated on the radio in 2002. She's the OG.

Awesome well her mark is undeniable! Back in the days: Avril Lavigne, Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41 and Simple Plan were my jams (actually they still are hahaha)

This is definitely an excellent list! I consider "Let Go" a highlight in the pop-punk music scene. It's undeniable that it paved the way for the success of this genre.
