I wish Evan would have gone more in the heavier rock sound with his music, I think it would have been more likely to have perhaps made him more successful in his solo efforts.

I'll have check out more of Sturgill Simpson's work. It was hard to narrow it down to just 3 lol, but here is a sampler of the many genres of Sturgill Simpson through 3 of my favorite live performances of his: Country mixed with jazz/soul Straight up hard rock Country mixed with rock He’s very multi-influenced: has put out a great strings-laden country-soul record featuring a fantastic cover of Nirvana’s “In Bloom”, he’s done a few unabashedly country records, a couple bluegrass records, and even an experimental electronic-infused hard rock record that has a corresponding Netflix anime series accompaniment haha, guy truly does not care about genre limitations and I love it. I really like what I have heard, and man he has some damn good guitar skillz, etc. He's obviously incredibly versatile, country, bluegrass, rock, etc. I read up on him a bit, and if you have not read the article in GQ, I encourage you to do so. He is well traveled and quite the character. I find his adventurous and neurodivergent mind set quite fascinating. I plan on listening to all his albums in order of release. I also watched a few vids on him with Joe Rogun on YouTube that were very interesting. And another vid I watched on him was fascinating too, titled: ‘ We've Reached The End of Sturgill Simpson’.
Thank you for turning me on to Sturgill Simpson or should I say Johnny Blue Skies? Lol I’m really sorry for the very delayed response. I had the sudden opportunity to vacation for week+ and I just could not pass on this offer. Which gave me the much needed time to decompress and unplug from it all. It was in retrospect the absolute right thing for me to do at the time, and I definitely feel refreshed and rejuvenated!

I always felt bad for Evan, he is handsome and talented, but he never received the attention he deserved, I think. I don't know why his first album wasn't released, it seems like the label gave it up for some reason. Although it was a great time for such songs, until electronic music took over the world.

Yeah, I agree. It's very very catchy, I love this song and the album 'Purple'. Purple is definitely a no song skips album, IMO. I literally wore out my first purchased Purple and, and had to by it again. Glad to see Stone Temple Pilots getting the love it deserves.

Note: could not for the life of me get my initial post with the YouTube videos removed from my quote response here lol, so sorry for the massive amount of page space that takes Yeah it is difficult to do this sometimes, I have found what sometimes works is to make your comment first. Then delete what you don't want re-posted last.

The UMS era has such good live performances! The band coming in at the end caught me completely by surprise and was totally awesome. Also, very interesting guitar she’s playing. Triangle sound hole, longhorn pick guard, and then the Sk8r boi star up by the tuning pegs. Would love to know the story behind that one. Agreed, loved many of those UMS live performances too. Never noticed the unique guitar until pointed it out, interesting! I have never seen anyone else do this where the band comes in on the final segment, but I really love it too.
Above, I just posted another video, where the band joins in on the final segment.

Talking about instruments made me think of this video. It’s from the “Transatlantic Sessions” which brings together all the best instrumentalists of unique instruments from Ireland, Scotland, and North America to play together, results in this really cool mashup of Celtic and country/bluegrass styles. There’s some really cool instruments you don’t see often, especially all together. wow that was so beautiful. Once again I'm convinced that music is one of the greatest things of humanity

There’s some really cool instruments you don’t see often, especially all together. Sorry for the delayed response. I'm still fighting covid19 a week later. I took covid home test a week ago and the test line was bright red, just like the control line in the test. Today I took another covid home test, and I did still test positive for covid, but the line is a faint pink, compared to the bright red control line. Which means its fading, and I feel much better. Each day I can feel I'm getting stronger.
Wow, what an interesting collaboration. It's crazy to think about how you would even coordinate all those different genres and instruments in to one cohesive unit, and to be able to still get it to sound that good.
I guess the only adjustment would be inclined to suggest, is to maybe minimize the banjo a bit, and/or some how fade it in, and then fade it out a time or two during the song. All in an effort to somehow let a few of the other instruments get their moments to shine a bit more. But still, wow, that was really impressive. Thank you for sharing this!
