Oh Avril I'm really trying to care, but it seems that recently, every time she does something new, I'm getting less and less interested. I could rant but I'll stay on topic.. The guys t-shirt with the "AD" on it just really doesn't appeal to me. It's very "meh". The other ones with the Union Jack on it, I was wondering why she (or whoever actually designed it) chose the union jack, but of course - even being 3000miles away isn't enough to escape the Limeys I personally find the Union Jack a horrible flag, and I'm not even going to start on the "rebel" thing... Even forgetting about the shipping costs (which would probably be another $25) I honestly can't remember when I last (if I even ever have) spent $25 on a t-shirt, that's what - £16? The last t-shirt I bought was £5.99...

Ironically AD seems to have the same problem as her music- it hasn't grown with her fans. Most of us are at least late teens to 20s and early 30s. A lot of us have school or jobs and can't be walking around in a shirt with skulls all over it. Honestly, that white tuxedo jacket Avril wore to NYFW is something I'd seriously consider wearing if I had a job interview or presentation. The fun stuff with skulls and bright colors is fine for casual clothes but IMO she should also make some nicer stuff for her older fans for going out, work, school, etc. I really hope in the future she'll add some pieces like that but I'm not very hopeful for that. She seems to want to keep catering to her younger fans for some reason and as someone mentioned, most of these clothes are simple and quick to manufacture. Disappointing, to say the least. I've just turned 19 this month and I think Abbey Dawn is still too childish/samey. I haven't bought a single piece, either because of price or simply it's not something I'd feel comfortable wearing. Avril can pull off the line because of her style/reputation, but other people wearing the range? I've grown up with her since I was 5/6 but even I wouldn't wear it. And also that jacket for NYFW was lovely. I'd love that.

I find it really strange that neither she nor her official social media accounts have tweeted about the new collection. The only thing I sort of like is the black rock and roll shirt, as you said, for casual wear. But at $27, not even including shipping, I don't think so. Instead I just went on eBay and purchased 2 items from the older collections, a yellow plaid button down for $8 and the gray At Least We Have Each Other shirt from the Alice in Wonderland collection for $26, which was a little steep for me but at least it included the shipping and it was brand new. I also put in a $7 bid for one of the old animal print hoodies with the studs because I always like to have comfortable hoodies. I'd say eBay is your best bet for AD because it's a lot cheaper and you can still find some of the older items. That reminds me, I've been meaning to sell most of my Kohl's AD shit... maybe I should get in that now?

She seems to be playing it safe for now, perhaps too safe. I like the AD-skull shirts, but as something casual I would wear once in a while. If she wanted to "revamp" AD, it's not much of a revamp so far. Sure, there will be fans who will buy it just because it's Avril and some might like it, but it won't attract older fans and GP. And much less considering she doesn't have the star power she had before. We'll see if she does some interview where she talks about it in a more deep manner...I just had a flashback that took me back to the GL era: Interviewer: Well, Avril, you've got a new album going on, and it's pretty deep and sentimental, one would say you poured your soul into some of the songs, could you tell us more about it? Avril: Oh yes, of course, I've got this clothing line called Abbey Down, which is super cool and it's full of skulls and spikes and stuff... I seriously don't think there was one GL interview where she didn't mention AD. It was the "Chad and I met in the studioooo" of GL.

Yeah, her music and clothing lines reflect the same thing, that is that she is not taking adult market seriously or she may think only teenagers worth to make money, shame

I've heard that researchers say celebrities become mentally stuck at whatever age they became famous. Avril does still act like a teenager a lot of the time LOL Maybe it's that? Joking aside, I do think there could be some truth to that. Remember that Avril was forced to grow up very quickly and maybe now she tries to relive those teenage years because she never really got to do that. IDK, just a theory.

I'm sure there's some truth in your theory. The fact that she stated "I never had a prom ball" back when she released the HTNGU MV did make me think something along those lines.

Tbh I didn't expect anything mature. I liked certain patterns and stuff before but the current ones just don't fit my style. Maybe I've just outgrown it.

I've always loved Abbey Dawn and I remember how frustrated I was when it was still only sold at Kohl's and they wouldn't ship worldwide. But ever since Abbey Dawn got an own website I've bought lots of pieces and spent half my pocket money on it. But I think it started with that 2013 summer collection when I stopped liking the designs. Most of them were too... extravagant? Well, I mean, it just didn't seem suitable for daily use anymore but at the same time kind of uninspired and childish.
I don't know what I had expected of the new stuff. Probably something more mature but not too boring. So yeah, I'm a bit disappointed now. It's stars, skulls and bones again. It's not that bad but it's not that good either, especially not for a simple shirt that costs $27.95! I haven't figured out how to grow money on my tree yet, you know...
But I guess there'll be more clothes soon. They surely wouldn't have relaunched Abbey Dawn for 11 pieces...

They say the same thing about people that become addicted to alcohol and drugs... that they cease to mature once they become addicted. I wonder if the celebs that have problems are the ones that become addicted to fortune and fame. I'm not saying anything about Avril. I never pretend to understand what goes on inside anyone else's head. I barely understand what goes on in my own. It's going to be interesting to see how things go from here. I think Lyme Disease has slapped her around and said "Hey, hey, you, you, you're beautiful, rich and famous and i'm going to own your ass for a while. After all, you're only human". Needless to say, I'm hoping for the best possible outcome. I'm just going to sit back and pay attention.

So, I received my shirt yesterday. Nothing really to report... the packaging was bizarre, and the shirt itself is thin, but the graphic is HUGE which I like

'Cause with every collection she comes out with, there are always new tags, for example the heart, the boombox tag, the skull tag, and the Alice in Wonderland collection had its own special tag. And what exactly do you mean by the packaging being "bizarre"?

I wish she'd done a clothing range during the LG/UMS eras cos I was young enough to wear whatever she wore then and love it lol. I feel a bit old for AD like I've grown out of that style - she was like 10 years too late!
