I just like how in that clip she says "Everyone has their own opinions on... everybody." Even though she was just rambling mindlessly, her words there have real truth to them. Just generally speaking. We all do have our own opinions about everyone and everything and even though sometimes that kind of sucks, that's just part of life.
I was also always amazed by how she handled the fame back then. She was just 17, coming from a small town and a rather sheltered home life, suddenly becoming famous all over the world, having strangers walk up to her, dealing with the media and people saying she was fake, a poser, etc. It had to have been extremely difficult and a lot of pressure to deal with, especially for being as young and inexperienced as she was. It's a wonder she never went off the deep end like many child celebs or adult celebs do when dealing with that kind of stuff.
ETA: It also had to have been super frustrating for her with the whole "punk" and "poser" thing. I always thought it was so stupid and unfair how the media were the ones who labeled her "punk" but they were also the same people who gave her shit for calling herself "punk" even though she never actually said she was. I think we all have figured out by now that her image in the LG era was authentic, but definitely pushed and kind of exaggerated in order to sell, but in general she had to be one of the more "real" and authentic artists out there at the time, especially in pop music. And it had to have hurt her a lot when people were saying she was being fake. It's one thing if she actually was being fake, but she wasn't. Most of that was the real her, and for people to basically say that it wasn't, must have been pretty annoying.

I really loved this version of 17... The studio version really makes me appreciate the real instruments of this version. The guitar riffs and actual drums have a completely different vibe from the recorded version. i agree the demo is even worse than the album version. the live version does NOT improve this track from the album version imo. |
