This was my first exposure to Avril, twelve years ago this week. I was aware she existed from her being mentioned on the internet. But, I didn't know what she looked or sounded like. The next day I found her web site and listened to 30 second previews of all the songs on TBDT and was able to stream the complete versions of her first two albums. I liked a lot of it and went out and bought TBDT so I could listen to the complete album. A day or two later, I watched two half hour shows of her on a cable channel. The first was full of live performances from TBDT and the next was videos from her first two albums. That was it. I was hooked. That day I went back to the store and bought LG and UMS. Anyway, it started with these two songs on SNL. I've seen these on youtube before. But, never in resolution this good. I enjoyed both these songs in spite of the lame dancing. To see them now is very nostalgic for me. |

I know a lot of you guys already know and love the Roxy concert, but these performances from live Nation are so amazing too, probably the best Girlfriend performance ever, acoustic but soooooo fun xD I wonder how many songs they actually played?

I like this interview: Avril like an adorable dwarf  how she likes those hooded sweatshirt and it fits her nice. Also I never saw this interview and she is on the ground talking so crazy and fun Avril in a rare video... Yeah, me too. Especially the armwrestling part! And it's funny how Avril avoids the answer for the USA/Canada question. And generally I enjoy watching Avril relaxing on the floor! |

Those are all nice interviews but this is one of mine favourite:
If only she had more recorded videos from that time2002-2003 ...she is so different then before "Let Go" and after...the feeling is indescribable...

I always found that interview ^ so fascinating, it's a shame there's parts that are cut off. I would be interested in knowing more of what she said because she was speaking so candidly about everything, something that I think she has rarely done ever.
I always thought for being how young she was and becoming famous and successful so quickly, that she handled everything really well. She was pretty self-aware with the whole "punk" thing, even understanding why people hated her for that image despite the fact it wasn't her fault. And she knew that she wasn't a punk. I remember in that ABC documentary her bandmate Matt mentions how well she handled the fame then and I always thought that was spot on. If you think about it, she was 17/18, coming from a small town in Canada who had lived a rather sheltered life growing up, suddenly is famous all over the world practically overnight. Granted social media didn't exist yet and that would have made things a lot worse, but she still experienced hate from people and the media. And she handled it all really well for being so young and inexperienced.
