Stephen Medd posted some more never-before-seen footage of Avril singing Touch the Sky back in 1998 and 1999. Never knew she ever sang it live and I also always thought the event where she met Cliff Fabri was her own gig but I guess it was the CD release.

I just love how pre-LG avril sounds SO country LOL and no, it's not jsut the music, but also her voice, it's softer and more like a child (obviously...xD) so it makes me think again that she just tried to sound lower in LG to be more of a "rockstar" lol. She lowered her larynx a lot and used such a horrible vocal technique, luckly she improved a lot since UMS.
I just can't help but think that her voice doesn't sound too different if we forget about her slight new nasality which seems to have gotten better. I hope AL7 vocal production will be amazing and i also hope she tries to do some husky voice or something like that, like modsun not just her usual belts and MAYBE a falsetto here and there.

There are certain styles of music that showcase her voice so much better than what she is doing now. Country/gospel are perfect examples of that. I wouldn’t be mad if she did a country album tbh. |

That old tape really reminds me why I love her music so much, what a penetrating voice, especially although there's no mic feed at all, you can still tell it. She totally ruined that trait from all Let Go lives where she tried to be edgy with deeper voice. You know she seems to be forgotted her voice in production since 2011 with all those overproducing. Glad she tone down the instrumental with Head Above Water. She can do more minimal pop like Work by Fifth Harmony

yeah but what is a "curse" in english? a bad word? or just some words that are "not pretty" let's say..? i mean you don't get the "explicit" sign on spotify for just that word, that's why i'm asking. Or it just depends on personal perception?

Or it just depends on personal perception? In America we abide by the Federal Communications Commission, or FCC. They decide what words can and can’t be said on TV and radio. There’s other things that go into it, like the explicit version of a song may be played on radio on adult stations or at nighttime when kids most likely won’t be listening, but on family friendly stations or daytime hours, the clean version has to be played. “Damn” is not really a swear but in this case it may be considered so because it’s repeated several times, it’s also not appropriate for kids still. Like Radio Disney would not play a song with the word “damn” in it, no matter how tame that might be. |
