Yes but that's sort of the point- it's naive to think the Teen Choice Awards will really stay true to their word and that they really care about the integrity of the vote when they don't. Because it just causes an upset like this. Unfortunately it is just one of the many harsh realities of the world. It's better they know the truth about it than to live in ignorance and keep voting for these things, giving the company exactly what they want, and then throwing tantrums when it doesn't happen the way they expect it to. I remember in 2011 when Avril won the MMVA Fan award but they gave it to Justin Bieber. And ever since then, I've just never bothered with fan voted awards. They're scams. If anything, more people should be made aware about it so that they don't give the companies what they want, by voting and drawing attention to the show. Not only that, I imagine there is a fine print somewhere saying the show has all final rights to decide the nominees. The fact none of them thought about this or seem to be aware of it and keep thinking their votes actually matter just shows how naive they really are. If someone was perfectly aware of how these things work, but wanted to vote anyway just to support Avril, that's perfectly fine, great for them. Just don't throw a giant fit over Twitter and angrily demand that the company change the vote. This isn't the first time the fan base has done this, by the way. Any time Avril doesn't win or doesn't get treated fairly in these online polls, the fans throw a huge fit about it until it's fixed. I get that to kids it's like this huge deal, but in reality these online polls don't mean anything and I think it just ends up making the fan base look bad when they throw fits over it. It's not even like if Avril managed to get nominated that she would win anyway. IDK, I was just annoyed when I saw it all over Twitter last night, these fans angrily tweeting AT the company and demanding they change it. Perhaps calling them "morons" wasn't the best choice of words, but I really do think they're incredibly naive and should know better by now, especially since the 2011 MMVA thing. Like I said, it's probably better that they know the truth so they don't waste their time voting and giving the company exactly what they want, instead of blindly believing their votes actually count and then getting all upset when they find out that they don't. If you know the truth, you save yourself the trouble. I barely ever bother with fan voted polls and things anymore. It is normal to be naive as a kid. I don't see how it's a bad thing. Let them live in their bubble as long as they can. Also, they were 8, 9 or 10 years-old in 2011, so I don't think they understand what this is all about. I don't know under which circumstances you grew up or what kind of life you live. I don't know you enough to tell. But when I was around that age I didn't care for such things. I only cared about when the next Bravo magazine would come out or whether I could meet my friends. I know things are different now for kids but that doesn't mean that they can't be carefree. Yeah, I do agree that they should be made aware. However, that is the parent's responsibility. Posting an angry post on the forum won't help them because non of them uses this forum. It'd be probably a bigger help if people tweeted or pmed them. But when a company is basically taking advantage of them and using them to get free advertising, I don't think that's ok. And when all it does is waste their time and make them upset, I don't think that's ok either. If this was just a harmless thing, fine, they can be naive and live in the bubble, but that's not the case. If it's legitimately making them angry and upset, maybe it's not a good idea. Maybe the next time this crops up, they'll know better now. I'm sure if anyone had tried to warn them ahead of time, they wouldn't have listened. Sometimes the only way kids can learn anything is from experience. And now that they know, maybe they won't fall for it again.

I get the feeling Avril may go into super early retirement and cease her career in music very soon.

By 'very soon' I mean in the next two years. She may still release an ep, an xmas album and end with some kind of compilation/greatest hits package. I could be totally wrong, but, I've just been thinking that Avril retiring early is quite a major possibility.

She's always said that she would make music for the rest of her life and IMO she still seems to enjoy it. What happened with AL era… well there was a lot of shit that happened, including her illness. Maybe she doesn't enjoy performing live as much as she used to but she still greatly seems to enjoy being in the studio and writing. She may end up not touring as much in the future, especially since her ticket sales are so low to the point she isn't touring anywhere outside of Asia, but I think she'll continue to release albums or EPs. If she was at home all this time and not doing anything music-related I might be concerned, but the fact that she is currently writing, even though she doesn't have to be, is a good sign.

I've just been thinking that Avril retiring early is quite a major possibility. So have I. It's difficult to put my finger on what makes me think that, it's more of a feeling I suppose, based on a general observation of her career. Maybe it won't suddenly end, but I think her career is going to slowly grind to a halt over the next few years. I just don't think she has the staying power to be one of those Madonna or Cher types, who keep making and performing music for as long as they're physically able to do it - whereas you could make a good case for, say, Britney, because she's still going strong after being in this game longer than Avril has, and she doesn't seem to be slowing down. Again, it's just a feeling.

Realistically I think after this next album, EP or whatever she's working on, she might think about starting a family and lay low for 2-3 years. She might release albums less often or tour less, but I don't see her career just stopping completely. What would Avril do with herself all day, especially when her kids get old enough to go to school? I think she keeps doing this stuff because it gives her something to do and she enjoys it. And even if she stopped with music for a few years, she may still want to do other things like Abbey Dawn, her foundation, or acting. I just don't see Avril dropping off the face of the earth.

I didnt try to be rude but the way she continues making music is like making more money then the better music. If you are passionatea about something, you might always want your works to be better and better. The case of Avril now is like "I make my own musict that I want" Instead of improving her writing and producing skills, she just find someone who matches her idea, and that is end. So, where is her involvment? You know, for the art thing, people think youa r suck then u r until you can really tell an interesting story or something directly pull out a message itself. Otherwise, youll have nothing left to persuade ppl to buy ur stuff

She doesnt really want to challenge herself but that is what real artists do. I see her releasing another EP or album and I think then she will focus on other things only: painting, maybe a book or whatever.

I think Avril will continue to make new music for the rest of her life, especially since she has a home studio, but she just won't release it. She loves to make music, I think that she'll continue to write new songs and possibly record demos and such, but just not release any of it.

So @billboard contacted us to write an essay about avrillavigne's fandom. I'll need help from all the #littleblackstars to make it perfect?
