for AL, she had her album "done", full of "Tripod" songs, but then Martin Johnson and J-Kash happened and we saw a quite "all-over-the-place" album. You forgot Bonnie McKee and The Runners for the 5th album.

for GL, RCA made her go back to studio with Max Martin and delayed the album almost a year, until they finally agreed to add 4/12 songs from the "hitmaker" Avril wrote a total of 12 songs with Max Martin? I know that they wrote "Dancing Crazy" together and it was given to Miranda Cosgrove, but I didn't know they did 12 songs together.

I think that he meant out of 12 songs on the album (except there were 14, not 12) that they made her change 4 of them, not that she wrote 12 songs with MM. From what we know there were at least 5 songs they wrote together, maybe more, but probably not as many as 12. I've always wondered if she actually went to Sweden more than once, just to work with him. I wonder if the first time she wrote WYWH and ILY and thought those would satisfy RCA while also still staying true to the original vision but RCA still wasn't happy so she went back a second time to do WTH/Smile/Dancing Crazy. I always got the impression from her interviews that she had gone more than once.

You forgot Bonnie McKee and The Runners for the 5th album. Yes, but I think she voluntarily scrapped those songs when she did all those songs with the "Tripod" after the summer of 2012. It was indeed another change of direction. Avril wrote a total of 12 songs with Max Martin? I know that they wrote "Dancing Crazy" together and it was given to Miranda Cosgrove, but I didn't know they did 12 songs together. I always got the impression from her interviews that she had gone more than once. Yeah, I meant 4 of 12 total songs, but they were 14 (or 13 if we don't count the "hidden track" Alice ). Which interviews made you think she went more than once? From her own tweets and side info from other people, she was there around two weeks and even attended some rock concert with Max (don't remember which band), if I remember correctly. Later, she was in the studio with Alex and Skylar, and it was also said she was with Pharrell (said by himself) and some white rapper. Thankfully, only a few MM songs made the album, and she could release most of her original vision for that album; too bad it didn't happen with AL album.
