"Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."
- her rep said in a statement.

Oh finally someone made a thread about this! Was about to do it yesterday, but I wasn't sure I was "allowed" to haha, or if there already was a thread about Demi..
I'm so glad she's ok now. Yesterday I was all over the place and I felt so broken. Demi was a huge inspiration when I was younger. When she came out and talked about her self harm and how she felt. She is one of the things that made me stop hurting myself and I will be forever grateful for that.
Later on I started to feel that she started to get a bit "bitchy" and I stoped relate to her so the last year's I haven't followed her at all. But yesterday's news was heart breaking.
It was so shocking reading the words Demi and heroin overdose in the same sentence.

I'm just really saddened and shocked. I wouldn't go near that stuff unless I didn't care if I lived or died. Heroin is dangerous stuff. I hope she can get clean and stay clean. I do think she is a bit crappy and I've never seriously been into her music but I hope she gets well soon.
Edit: Some reports are saying it wasn't heroin.

It is said not to be heroin but another opioid substance. Still bad and i hope she gets the help she is in so great need of. And get balance into her life again.

I’m not a fan of hers really but I watched her Simply Complicated documentary out of sheer curiosity. It’s really unfortunate that she was 6 years sober and relapsed.

Drugs are such a big problem for some people. You should be able to take them or leave them, enjoy them. I've never really pushed drink and drugs to the kind of excess whereby I am endangering my own life. Some people don't have brakes. It seems really crazy and unnecessary to me.

First of all, I must admit, that I'm not Demi's huge fan as well too. But anyway I wish so much Demi be healthy and wealthy. I would like also to wish effective, fast treatment and I hope that she will has the inspiration and the muse to create cool music in the future. Demi and her work deserve attention and great success. P. S. Ben545, thank you so much for creation this nice new and actual thread. :-)

I am not a fan of hers- I haven't got anything against her either- but I was honestly surprised when I saw that it was heroine- like that's pretty hardcore stuff, I didn't think anyone in the Hollywood league consumed it after how destructive it proved to be for 2-3 decades.- so I feel also inclined to believe the opioids version. Regardless of what it was, I feel sorry for her fans though. I didn't live to "see it" but some of the music acts I love the most were swept away-or nearly- in the 70s-80s because of drug addiction and, in most cases, it was such a waste. Many of that people were too young and were burning too bright and were deeply troubled but they had a chance and talent, and a different conception of music to share with the world. It's also a pity that someone as outspoken about the dangers of drug addiction as she was has fallen in the same hole she was building fences around to keep others from falling.
Now and this may sound insensitive-although it's not my intention- this has sort of helped me to put-again- Avril's "faults" into perspective. For one reason or other she has never been through this and I think that's something we should really appreciate- again, I am not saying she's better than Lovato in any "moral" way, but it's sort of grounding to think that all we have to worry about with her is having a relatively "manageable" illness and a never-ending album postponing.

So glad someone made this thread. It just really hit me hard. I've become a big fan since her new album came out. And even before I loved Camp Rock and some of her singles. Hearing her music and watching carpool kareoke made me a bigger fan of hers as a person. She's just so strong as a person and vocally. Idk I just want her to okay again. She's got a long way to recovery. But I'm hoping she gets better and that this makes her stronger.

Not being more than a casual listener of her works, but it did occur to me the range she has over people.
What is scary is that she is a very know person. Especially among young, vulnerable and easily to affect humans. So that she has been so open about her mental health, her alchol and drug intake.. falls and victories, she has been a important ambassador of sorts in the battles against/for drugs, mental health s.o. That it can become the opposite effect when episodes like this take place. When this is the 2nd time in her public life, she's fallen into addiction.
So not keeping her accountable, but she no longer has the luxury of having all she says and do to be only hers alone. And its not just her, but Avril as well, everyone being known.
And not that i just realised that, but the first time the effect has been so vissible around from my veiw.
Demi is a very strong, independent, clever and beautiful human being that must be allowed to spread her wings and fall down on the way. And she will ocercome this and i hope anyone in the same boat does too!

To be quite honest, I've thought for a long time now that she wasn't as well as she's always said. All this "I'm so confident" "sorry not sorry", it just seemed too exaggerated to me, too fake. 'Cause at the same time she was rude to some of her own fans, got kinda nasty when talking about skinny people, and other things like that. And I believe, when someone feels truly good and confident about who they are, they don't have the need to try and bring other people down like that.
Yes, she's been struggling with serious mental health issues for a long time now, but - and I know this sounds harsh - I personally think there's a point where you shouldn't excuse every shit you do and say with "well, sorry, I have mental health issues". You gotta work on yourself, and always keep working on yourself, most likely for the rest of your life.
But when she started becoming so bitchy, I kinda got the feeling she forgot working on herself, maybe even started lying to herself about how bad she was actually feeling. I'd thought a good wake-up call might do her some good. But I'd meant something rather harmless, like her watching a movie about depression / drug abuse / mental health issues and realizing "hey, I can totally relate". I'd never ever wished for her to relapse the way she did. I was quite shocked when I heard about this news, because even though I'd thought for a long time that she was in a bad condition, I'd never thought it was that bad. I mean, whatever drug it was that she took, she ended up in hospital, which means it's fucking serious.
I am probably even more shocked, however, by seeing a few comments on Twitter like "she just wants to sell her music with this" or "addiction is not a disease, get your shit together" or "just quit your job, go to rehab or something". It's 2018, and there are still people out there who think mental health issues are some kind of choice or something celebrities use to sell their music / movies / etc., that people who suffer from mental health issues and are open about it are just attention-seekers. I can't believe this! How many more people need to go through hell, how many more people need to fucking die for these idiots to finally understand that this is something that needs to be taken seriously?
I might not like Demi a lot, but knowing what it's like to struggle with mental health issues for years on end, it's nothing anyone - anyone at all - deserves. I really hope for Demi that she can get help, that she will find a healthy way to overcome, or at least cope with, her mental health issues, and that this was the last relapse she'll ever have to endure.

TamyXD I agree with everything you said. And I know that mental health issues have much less awareness and general acceptance but I mean we even see this attitude when celebrities have a physical illness too that isn't "visible" like Avril with Lyme - "every washed up celebrity seems to be "catching" Lyme disease these days" or with Lady Gaga "looks like her tour hasn't sold out". Seriously? It's 2018 and people still feel the need to be dicks. How hard is it to just be nice or don't comment on and assume things that don't concern you. I don't know anything about Demi really but I'd heard she'd struggled with her mental health. I hope she makes a full recovery and that having such a big media story concerning a celebrity tragedy due to mental health (again) will change people's perceptions and encourage more people to seek help. Unfortunately it probably won't for the former.

I think she's got problems with addiction more than anything else. She needs help to quit whatever is killing her. She might die in the future if she is not strong enough to quit. It doesn't get any more serious. I hope she is as shocked as we are that she has overdosed.

I am also not a fan of hers, but it's a pattern with so many celebrities and it's quite depressing. I think sometimes we forget the "person" behind the stardom if that makes sense and don't realise that it may be too much sometimes. Of course, I could be wrong and she could of OD'd for another reasoning entirely, but I have my suspicions.
I am very relieved for her family that she didn't die. I do agree with Ben's statement - I really do hope that the shock of all of this helps her realise that this is a path to ruin, no matter her problems.
