Not agreeing on that ever when after UMS she released TBDT haha Omg yes tbdt!!! It's her best album and it shines even more since it's been released after her worst album. She improved so much in those few years. Haha

Not agreeing on that ever when after UMS she released TBDT haha She earned a LOT of money from TBDT and dont forget the ONLY #1 its also from that album. Just saying. And am I talking about HER money or numbers? Hahah no I’m not, I’m talking about my opinion, and just cause some people don’t like certain album doesn’t mean they are right saying “it’s her worst album, over” I’m not here saying TBDT is her worst album and people should agree with me, that’s just my opinion (I guess. I’m not even sure if I think it’s her worst album, I still like it but isn’t my fav)

UMS is definitely her second best album (my personal favorite).... LG is her best. Least favorite..GL (too many songs to skip). Some described UMS as childish....freak out, he wasn't, don't tell me...might be kinda childish..but there's like 9-10 songs(the majority) that are NOT. It's production is really good. TBDT has even better production..but vocals and lyrics are kinda cheesey. AL has its moments...some really good stuff and some just okay...or too simple. The problem with her albums..is the representation....some wrong single choices(besides LG era). My singles choices for the other eras would be in order:
UMS: nobody's home, my happy ending, fall to pieces, how does it feel
TBDT: girlfriend, when you're gone, everything back but you, innocence
GL: what the hell, wish you were here, push, I love you (or everybody hurts)
AL: give you what you like, bad girl, let me go, 17
In her new album.. I'd really like a more Gothic/dark vibe but probably not gonna happen. But if there's going to be..too many ballads..maybe one similar to "a simple motion" by t.A.T.u. or "forgiven" by Within Temptation!

UMS is just pure trash, there's no other way to describe it. No one likes it but the fans.
- critically panned - objectively her worst album - worst lyrics of all of her albums - no recurrent airplay - worst streams of all of her albums, the singles almost never make an appereance on iTunes
It's just by all means forgotten by the general public, but hey, it's a fan favorite Y'ALL.

For me her eras would have been better with some different singles:
LG: Complicated, Sk8ter boi, I'm with You and Things Ill never say.
UMS: MHE, Fall to Pieces, Nobodys Home and Slipped Away
TBDT: Girlfriend, When You're Gone, Runaway and Innocence
GL: WYHW, WTH, Everybody Hurts, Smile and fan video of Remember When
AL: HTNGU, GYWYL, Bad Girl, 17 and Hush Hush

My favourite album is Let Go, it's a timeless album for me
And as for my era's choices:
Let Go is already perfect the way it is UMS: My Happy Ending, Take Me Away, Nobody's Home, Fall To Pieces TBDT: Girlfriend, WYG, I can do better, Hot, Innocence GL: WTH, Smile, WYWH, Remember When AL: Rock 'n Roll, GYWYL, Bad Girl, Hush Hush

for me its
1. LG 2. UMS 3. TBDT 4. AL 5. GL
Not much between UMS and TBDT for me, both great albums but UMS just about wins it. LG is just a classic, I don’t think she’ll ever release better, it’s timeless. I like most of AL as individual songs but as an album it’s a mess. GL is her worst by a mile imo and if any album is overrated by fans it’s GL.

I personally like UMS the most. Yes, the lyrics surely aren't the best, but the songs still have meaning and are quite mature (especially compared to some of Avril's other songs...). I also love those heavy electric guitars, and the production is probably the best of all of Avril's records. Then there's that kind of dramatic, dark mood of some songs (e.g. the bridge of "Forgotten" with those strings is fantastic, almost theatrical!), which I just generally like; but there are also strong, empowering songs like "Who Knows", "Freak Out", and "Don't Tell Me". I can understand (and accept), though, that some people might not like it, especially if you prefer happy sounding songs. But AL5 is just definitely nowhere near as good as UMS. Some songs seem so forced with all this "motherfuckin' princess" shit. The lyrics partly seem totally uninspirational, others seem to try too hard to be LG-ish (HTNGU and 17). And the ballads are kind of overrated imo, especially "Hush Hush". The verses and the bridge are nice, but the chorus is kinda lame and I'd honestly expected some better piano arrangements from someone like David Hodges, especially after hearing Avril's cover of HYRM. And GYWYL gets kinda boring after a while; it's just really lacking a highlight. Maybe they should've added some more guitars or electric guitars or something in the last chorus. These arguments mentioned above are, however, just my own personal opinion. But - I'm sorry - even if you like AL5, you can't deny that the production of at least half of these songs is awful. I mean, there are actually glitches in "Bitchin' Summer"! I still wonder how no one of Avril's team back then could've noticed that...? Now TBDT: I already mentioned above that I generally prefer mature and rather dark sounding songs as I just find them more relatable. TBDT isn't that at all. TBDT is fun and pink and perfect for jumping up and down in joy while screaming the lyrics. It's what I did back when I was 10 years old. I loved TBDT back then. Now I grew out of it. I dunno, I guess I just became a lot more serious... Now, TBDT, in fact that whole pop-punk genre, is too chaotic for my taste. I just don't like these for that genre typical kind of melodies, I find then kinda annoying and childish. Nor do I like TBDT's bratty attitude. I don't like Avril's voice much either, it's too high-pitched. The lyrics are definitely good, but I just can't really relate to any of those songs. In fact, the only things I still really like about this record are the aggression, the production, and the heavy drums. Apart from that, it's simply not my taste. But looking at it as objectively as I can, it's certainly a very, very good record in that genre, and I can understand why some people love it. So, to summarize it all: I personally like UMS the most, whereas the only one of Avril's records I like less than TBDT is AL5. That's MY SUBJECTIVE OPINION. Trying to look at it as objectively as possible (like someone who simply doesn't care about Avril probably would), I'd say AL5 is one of Avril's worse albums, mainly because of the production. UMS and TBDT can both share #1 (with LG). In the end, it's just a matter of personal taste. Though I gotta admit, it kind of breaks my heart when I read such harsh things as "UMS is her worst album, period."

Personally I think LG is her best album, followed by TBDT. I think UMS has good production and I like that she was more hands on with it but I do agree it’s hugely overrated by the fans. There’s many songs on it I like and I’d even say it’s her third best album because at least it’s consistent but it is too much of the same sounding thing. Lyrics are mostly pretty poorly written and lack any real creativity. Like at least TBDT has some funny and clever lines. I find UMS boring and kind of depressing. It is no surprise why she wanted to make an upbeat album after.
GL ranks 4th for me because it mostly has a consistent vision but it lacks a lot in production and lyrics IMO. Her self writtens especially falter in some places. Not enough variety in chord progressions or tempo for that matter. Some good songs and again I like her attempt to show artistry and be hands on but it’s a super boring album IMO. Nd I don’t think it ended up accomplishing what she really intended, even aside from the Max songs.
AL is by far her worst record IMO. The songs individually aren’t bad but the album as a whole body of work is a mess. The era itself was also a mess. The tour was her worst ever. And then she got sick. Just a terrible era overall.
But I’m hoping the 6th album will be her best yet.

Critically panned? Looking at UMS's wikipedia, it received generally good/okay reviews. Sure, TBDT received better reviews, but that doesn't mean UMS was "panned". Also, here in Germany I hardly ever hear Avril on the radio anymore since 2011 or so, but when I do hear one of her songs it's either an LG or a UMS song. I haven't heard any TBDT song since that era ended, not even GF. And I wouldn't say UMS is lyrically her worst album. It's mostly not very well written, that's true, but I'd personally much rather have lyrics like "I don't forget you, oh it's so sad" than a nearly 30-year-old singing that "school is finally out".
