So it's, "I've gotta keep the calm before the storm." and not "I gotta keep my calm before the storm."
Glad she clarified that lyric on her Instagram. 😋🤓💙

BTW THIS is how you give a review. An ATRL user posted this; I couldn't bring my phone in - they were all checked in at security - they were very tight about it. As yall can see Avril wore what she did in that video posted above haha. The video back drop was like ocean & waves. The whole look and just overarching sound, like that twitter person said, had a very gospel vibe to it. Overall though if I'm being honest, the song was good - but it wasn't my favorite (but that might be cause the band was drowning her out in the chorus - could barely catch words at times - I'm sure the actually recording will be better adjusted with audio levels). The song has a very 'Keep Holding On' meets 'Alice' meets 'Kesha's Praying' vibe - in the way its structured and sound - it's like the three mixed together. And it does have a christian pop rock (gospel in the way that she's so emotive) vibe to it - (probably cause she's singing about saving her life and wanting to live). The track opens with a piano and her voice with some ambient guitar riffs/ and such (1st verse lyrics are a little basic/rhyming "I gotta keep my calm before the storm, don't want less, don't want more, gotta bar the windows and the doors...") and then once the chorus hits - it's full band - very Keep Holding On Midtempo chorus vibes. The first part of the chorus she sings something like 'oh god I have to keep my head above water' and then more that I couldn't hear over all the guitars and drums - the beginning of the chorus wasn't catchy/didn't stick with me even after hearing her perform it twice. Then the post chorus part - was my favorite part of the whole song - you'll know it when you hear the track - but she sing's 'drown drown drown (in lowering octaves), don't let me don't let me drown' - it's just very catchy and current sounding (i'm surprised she didn't call the song 'Don't let me drown' kinda haha). Then the second verse has more band than the first verse - and then chorus hits again with full band - super mid tempo - and the post chorus still knocks. Then the bridge comes and it builds so well - you can kind of clap for it - it sounds like your heart is racing - and time is running out - and then all of sudden the music just stops and she sings if I remember 'oh god I have to keep my head above water' (or something very similar) and then the final chorus kicks in. another lyric I remember from the chorus - "I'm to young to fall asleep." - or something like that - obviously translating to I'm too young to die. Overall the song you can tell was very powerful and meaningful to her - it's definitely her 'praying.' I'm guessing it's about her lyme disease - and her fight for survival. Overall the song was good though - I'm excited to hear the studio version cause I think it'll be better/I'll be able to hear the chorus words better. She was sweet though - said hi to a lot of fans - said we were the first to hear - signed quite a few autographs between her performing the song twice. I can tell she's shy in real life??? but she was great with everyone and was really sweet. Hopefully this all makes sense - if you have any questions let me know - sorry it's so long haha sounds awesome. I want to know if there is high notes parts like WYG and MHE in the bridge?

Thank you for sharing this tweet! I love the dress. I love all of the descriptions. I loved the ATRL review (and good for her, bc ATRL is great promotion, a lot of people were and still are browsing that thread).

It looks like the song will be nice and a good start for the new era/album. And I don't mind the song isn't THAT good or the best from the album, as long as it sets the tone for it, I'll be satisfied. She needed a non-bratty song as lead single for a change and it seems HAW will be good enough. I'm quite sure there will be greater songs on the album, none of her lead singles are amongst my favorites songs from Avril, so if it doesn't blow me away, some others from the album will for sure.

It also seems that she started to lose a bit of weight.

I just realized that user yising is someone I know from the Dalton fandom. She takes super HQ videos from concerts and posts them on YouTube. She obviously wouldn’t have recorded anything from this performance though.
