So the point to this thread is to annotate or give your own interpretations on any of Avril's lyrics. If you're unsure of a lyric's meaning you can ask for someone else's view etc.

Honestly, I don't understand GYWYL coz its lyrics are so freaking deep. I hope someone will put down a theory.
What does the chorus refer to in ABO coz the lines skip a lot of things with question: Is it enough to love? Is it enough to breathe? Somebody rip my heart out and leave me here to bleed Is it enough to die? Somebody save my life I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
Is "Take Me Away" talking about the madness she cannot explain or just purely express the emotion?
What message does "Nobody's Fool" give beside telling lies?
What is the main point from "Who Knows"? My take-away is"When you want to do something, go ahead and do the best coz you'll never know what will happen if you do"
Is "How Does It Feel" talking about being normal and famous?
What is "Alone" trying to message out?
Is "Innocence" about "guilty pressure" ?
"Love that once hung on the wall", is that talking about the wedding photo with Deryck ?
Did Avril still want to hold on the relationship in "Losing Grip"? Or ended up break-up ?

Nobodys Fool is about standing up for what you want. She says that none can stop her from being herself and none can fool her and turn her into someone else. I always understood it like that. She talks about feeling isolated from the "normal" world, I guess. Innocence is 100% positive song. It talks about feeling blessed because there is so much love around you. It could be like that, yes. That's what I always thought. I dont know if it's a common saying in english or something, but it could describe the photo. I think it describes the end of a relationship.

Is Darlin about a Gay Friend? I always like to think so when i listen to it and I did read about it ages ago and apparently it's not- but it can definitely be interpreted like that.

Once I was listening to Innocence on Youtube, and was browsing through the comments. Someone made a comment saying something like "Could it be she wrote this song about losing her virginity ?". Everyoneone kind of rejected the thought, but I found it quite interesting. It's not like I believe Innocence is a song about losing virginity, not at all, but it's actually pretty interesting to listen to it having that thought on your mind.

I have never really understood the meaning of Fall To Pieces... I always think it's about a guy she's in love with, but he is not feeling the same (anymore). But she's so in love that she refuses to let him go, and that she keeps believing they will get together someday. She'll never be able to forget him, he's her "real" love of her life. The verses are thoughts she has, the verse is her admitting her love to the guy That's only my interpretation ofcourse

I never knew what the line "I was champagne you were Jameson" means. Through the whole song Avril is saying that they are the opposite of each other "You were perfect, I was unpredictable" Champagne is champagne and Jameson is a kind of whiskey (I think), so it's also to express how different they are (see the drinks as opposites)

I have never really understood the meaning of Fall To Pieces... Its about the trust in a relationship. Ive experienced like that b4 although its about my family not a couple. When the fall out become extreme, you dun want it to become any more extreme coz you know the relationship will be destroied until a point. In the song, Avril wanted each other to keep silence to stop hurting each other. To the bridge, Avril believed that she might miss smthg importance, she might get smthg wrong but she couldnt find out. So, she rather save the relationship made for each other than putting too much effort and risk to know the true. like "please dun let this tiny things ruin our relationship that has been being held on such long" hope this helps although my Eng sucks

I've always interpreted GYWL to be about a one night stand. She knows they're not in love but if he makes her feel that way, even for just one night, then she will give him what he wants. ABO, I kind of figured those lines were basically just saying those little things aren't enough for her (breathing, loving, dying). She wants more in her life, she doesn't want to be ordinary. LMG - "Love that once hung on the wall" is a metaphor. The pictures of them represented their love but they aren't hanging up on anymore.

I've actually never understood the opening lines in My Happy Ending:
"Let's talk this over It's not like we're dead Was it something I did? Was it something you said?"
If they are having a problem/fight in their relationship, Avril would obviously know if it was due to something the guy said. So what exactly is she trying to get at here?
