I agree some of the LG bsides are actually awesome songs. Particularly Make Up and Let Go.
I love YASNY. Her voice gets too high at parts but overall it’s a fun song, very TBDT, and she wrote it herself.
With BS, I never thought the lyrics about school were a big deal. She used to go to school. It’s not like because she’s no longer in school she can’t sing about it. The point was to make it relateable so that maybe kids who actually are in school can relate to it. Not to mention that growing up I’m sure Avril had that feeling of what it’s like when school is out for the summer and you’re free to hang out and party. She’s recalling a feeling that most people have experienced. I don’t think she meant it literally.

All of those songs are awful imo. However, I'm low-key surprised about IAGWIW, which is awful as well, but I thought little black stars loved it?
Take It has great drums/energy, but it's the lyrical equivalent to any Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan song from 2004.
I'd change places between Hello Kitty and Black Star, SOS/YASNY/BS/17/Get Over Me/etc...
I'm also surprised people voted for the Spongebob song. Aren't most of you full grown adults? 👀 I'm not judging! I'm just... surprised lol.

Her interpretation of the SpongeBob song is actually awesome, but it's so short and just a theme song that I don't think it's worth ranking it that high amongst her entire discography.
I actually do also love IAGWIW but I can understand that most people probably don't like the bratty lyrics. The lyrics in general are not good at all.
Take It, on the other hand, I think has great lyrics. Better than any song on UMS. "I know what you do, flash me/The way it's done impolitely," "So sell your picture to a magazine, invasion's not true photography (or is it "and they design true photography"? I've seen both), is that what you always wanted to be?/Well I'd be sorry for you," "Sometimes gotta try, run and hide, get away from this, I'll get by in this life this time," "Take your best shot, impress me/Write a fictional story for your fee/Try to get the world to believe/Shocking headline surprise"

I like the song and it’s fun live but I do think it should be retired from her set list at this point. The only songs that should continue getting played that are old are her hits. IAGWIW was never even a single yet it makes the setlist every tour over album tracks that she won’t even play. I think fans are just sick of hearing it tour after tour when it shouldn’t even really be there in the first place (it’s only a b-side from an album she released nearly 15 years ago). Especially over songs from the latest album that have never been performed. It’s time for it to go IMO. |

Nooo "You Never Satisfy Me" is so good, it deserves so much better  It's definitely loads better than that school kid summer song "Bitchin' Summer" (great melody, but bad lyrics, glitches, too much autotuning). I love UMS and I find IAGWIW and "Take It" alright, but I don't love them. IAGWIW actually has great lyrics imo, or at least very relatable to me. I can be damn stubborn too, and then this song is 100% me. xD But the melody, idk, I just can't really get into it. Maybe it's too repetitive or sth, dunno. And after Avril peformed it at every damn concert for like 10 years or so, I got really annnoyed of it. That sadly ruined the song for me, at least for a while. I'm starting to recover...  I love that "Take It" is about something completely different than all of Avril's other songs. But the melody is a bit too chaotic to me, that's definitely my biggest issue with the song. I used to love "One Of Those Girls" back when I was a kid, but over time it got kinda meh and by now I actually don't like it. They lyrics and topic are good and fun, but that's it. Melody is only okay, but Avril's voice is the main issue imo, it's so high-pitched, especially in the bridge. Probably her most high-pitched song. |

I love the majority of her bsides so I feel sad they ranked so low.
You Never Satify Me is one of my favs even if her voice sounds so young, I like the Latin sound of the 00s.
I've never seen Avril live so I would like to see her perform IAGWIW since many say it's good live. I think even if her new album loses the MFP vibe, the concerts will remain the same. Though I would choose other older songs besides that one if I had the chance like Fall To Pieces or Won't Let You Go.
