Why Taylor Swift's new song "Epiphany" sounds similar to Head Above Water song before Avril confirmed the list of the songs? I remember some member here said one of Avril song called Epiphany lol, and other words that's unique (My first language isn't English so Epiphany kind of unique)
And in my opinion, Taylor tried to be Avril again. I know she usually copied Avril's song, but this time it's the album that she copied. I haven't listened to the album yet, but the theme kinda similar to Head Above Water.

I don't recall Avril ever having a song called Epiphany. I don't see how the folklore albums sounds anything like HAW. You haven't listened to the album, but somehow you already know they sound similar? The folklore album is full of slow, acoustic and piano based ballads that are reminiscent of folk and indie music. HAW is also an album of ballads, but they are more pop-based and there's also a huge variety of different songs, including acoustic, soul/jazz, and pop/rock. Folklore is an album mostly about fictional characters, HAW is drawn from Avril's personal battle with Lyme and relationships. Maybe listen to the album before deciding Taylor "copied" Avril even though the 2 albums literally couldn't be more different from each other.

I listened to the whole song. And, there is nothing in "Epiphany" that reminds me of HAW, in any way.

Literally nothing from Folklore reminds me of HAW or Avril.

As much as I love Avril I can’t imagine the most successful artist in the world right now thinking “I need my next album to be more Avril lavigne”

To be fair she was talking specifically about the song Epiphany so when she says she hasn't heard the album it doesn't mean she hasn't heard some songs. Also it seems like something may have been lost in translation. I don't recall Avril ever having a rumoured title of a song called Epiphany but something else may have been translated like that so who knows.

The only Taylor songs I’ve ever heard that sound like Avril are The Story of Us and Better Than Revenge from her 2010 album Speak Now. But Taylor has also always been a huge Paramore/Hayley Williams fan, so she easily could have been inspired by her as well.
There’s also a bonus track from her 2006 debut album called I’m Only Me When I’m With You that Taylor said she wanted to sound like “Avril Lavigne country.”
Then there is a bonus track on her 2012 album Red called Come Back, Be Here that sounds nearly identical to Wish You Were Here. I doubt it was intentional but it’s possible Taylor heard WYWH on the radio and maybe had it in the back of her mind when writing the song.
Then the song Lover reminds me a lot of Tell Me It’s Over, but since TMIO wasn’t highly promoted I doubt Taylor even heard the song enough to be able to even subconsciously copy it.

She sounds mostly like her self. Most Taylor Swift songs sound the same to me.
I feel she doesn’t have a good vocal range and her chord progressions are mostly the same. I like the lyrics of the songs more than her songs. I’m gonna give folklore a try.

But I kinda agree with you. folklore is a good album but every song sounds the same to me, but it will probably grow on me. Though I don't think most of Taylor songs sound the same, I think her previous albums such as Fearless and Speak Now are filled with great songs.

It will be so funny if now that Avril might release some country songs that she is suddenly accused of copying Taylor.

Also it seems like something may have been lost in translation. I don't recall Avril ever having a rumoured title of a song called Epiphany but something else may have been translated like that so who knows. That's true. I think they were mostly going off the title. But if they have heard the song Epiphany then they may be talking about the style of singing that Taylor does on the song. It is different from her usual style of singing. Like she actually tried to sing. Cus Taylor to me does not have that voice like Avril or Kelly or Carrie. If you get what I mean. The kind that can sing like a bird. Lyrically, epiphany is beyond what Avril tends to come up with. Storytelling wise as well. It does give me some Slipped Away vibe in that it is sad and about death and based on their grandfathers. Both songs are equally boring IMO. Most boring song on Folklore but also the most relatable to what's going on with Covid. I just read a comment from a nurse relating to it for example. So yeah, OP is that what you meant about Epiphany? Btw I immediately wrote off epiphany but since you brought it up I came up with all these thoughts lol. Good promo work 😂.
