I can't believe the staff are having to put up with people PMing them with agressive comments and being so rude when I've only ever seen the mods here talk to people politely. No one should have to put up with that. This place should be enjoyable for everyone, staff included, and there's no excuse for being rude and aggressive just because things aren't going your way or you're told something you don't like. You may disagree with or not understand the point of some rules or other people's opinions but there's a polite, mature way to respond to that and a childish, rude way which is more of what I've seen lately. It makes me sad that the staff may leave (fairly, because they have no obligation to be talked to like that) and the boards may fall apart all because some people don't know how to have manners on the internet.

Wow it seems this thread is going in circles. This is about the current staff that are thinking of leaving and therefore no one will be moderating this forum. This is not about the old staff or the old forum.
Personally, I do not know what the is required of moderators or how a forum is run. Even if you all leave will there be an account left responsible with Proboards? That is the reason I see it hard for this forum to keep running without moderators. Because there's still someone who needs to be connected to Proboards...?

One thing that has gone downhill here that we need to work on as a matter of urgency please - nobody made me a birthday thread this year.

I think I am too recent to apply but I wouldn't mind to be a member of the staff and occupy someone's place.
I never saw myself as Little black star. I saw myself as a bandaider since 2002 when I found this community and fans didn't have nicknames. I believe avril fans who stand by her since the very beginning see themselves as bandaiders more than little black stars.

I am really saddened to read that the staff is feeling so unhappy atm and that Bandaids might close. Though it's not really surprising. During the last few weeks or so, there have been a couple rough times on Bandaids, imo especially yesterday with all those leaked snippets. Tbh I myself was so immersed in that moment that I didn't even realize that some of us were violating Bandaids' and ProBoards' rules until the thread got closed. Even though it was a little disappointing, I think it was the right decision. Things were getting out of control. It was really stressful. But unfortunately, closing the thread didn't solve the problem entirely. Even after the closing of the HAW thread, I saw quite a couple of rude comments toward the staff. Things like "stupid staff" and users still unable to accept the forum rules, despite several explanations. It might seem like petty stuff, but honestly, if I was a staff member and had to read things like that dozens of times a day on a forum that should actually fill me with joy, I would get really upset, too. It adds up. Taking a step back and simply going offline isn't always that easy. Some people are sensitive, they take such comments personal and might not be able to simply erase them from their minds. Especially when they know they'll have to come back sooner or later to keep moderating this forum so it can keep existing. I also want to add that during such heated times, I see a lot of comments accusing staff of being rude. I obviously don't know what's going on in PMs, but I've never seen a staff member being rude to anyone. Direct, maybe. Strict. But never rude. Deleting posts and giving warnings because you violated the rules is not being rude, it's simply the staff's objective task. If you can't accept the rules, talk to ProBoards or go open a Facebook group or something. The rules are here for a reason. It's not like there are weird rules like "Do not post any YouTube links". It really seems like a couple of users here don't seem to think about what they actually post. They just write something in a frenzy and click on "post". Of course, we're not robots, this kind of stuff sometimes happens. But then going on with this aggressive behaviour over pages and pages, even after a clear and justified warning, that's just unnecessary. I myself have so much to say sometimes, but hardly ever do because I fear I might get a shit storm for it, so instead I just stay quiet most of the time. Bandaids didn't use to be like that. After yesterday, I have decided to try and stay more or less offline for a few days, or at least refrain from reading and replying to certain threads. 'Cause it's just too much right now. It's more stressful than fun. And I'm not even a staff member. I don't get dozens of aggressive PMs per day. I could allow myself to just stay offline for a whole month without worrying if the forum could go on without me or not. The staff can't do that, I assume. The staff are people who spend so much of their free time in keeping this thread going. Without the staff, there would be no Bandaids at all. I would understand if Bandaids really had to close, eventually, but I would be very sad about it. It's the only still existing forum, eveything else is confusing Twitter or Facebook groups or something. I wish I could help, become a staff member, but I already have to deal with mental health issues every single day. Adding the stress of being a staff would probably break me completely. Maybe the forum could take a break soon. Close all threads, disable all users from logging in for an entire month. A few selected members (e.g. the staff, if they were willing to) could be the only ones still able to log in and update the forum with news (like "new single announced for next week" - you know, the stuff that's on Bandaids' homepage). Maybe that would help people to calm down. I've read a few times that some users here were banned for 2 weeks or so, and when they came back they said it really helped them to calm down and be more relaxed about the whole thing. So yeah, maybe we all just need a break. To conclude this long post, I really want to thank all the staff, including retired staff, at this point. I personally really appreciate all the work you put into this forum. All those fun games, always keeping us updated, the great designs - it would all not be possible without you guys.

Hey staff members! First of all, I would like to apologize to all of you if any of my posts harmed you. We all are people and we all make mistakes. I'm new to "posting" on formus, so I'm not used to this type of problems.
On the other hand, it's obvious that some of the members are angry at you (or some of you) idk why but wahatever. I can fully understand your frustation but someone said "close the new members posts about links" and...sorry but does anyone read the rules when they sign in somewhere?. Not me for sure, (not saying it's the best idea) but I found yesterday (or the day before dont remember) that we could not post links and leaked material, Ok..get it, not problem with that.
I think something about these people should me made. Idk...maybe a thread where they can all share their personal numbers or email or whatever. Or an alternative place where they can keep in touch. Someone said "do it outside bandaids" ok...but how? This is the place we all gather, this is where everyone is conected. You expecting them to ask every single member via pm to join a wapp group for example? 😄
I mean, there must be a solution. Apart form that, we are a lot of people, we can get along :/
Also... #prayforSam (whoever he is) 😄😄

I know I'm not really active anymore as a staff member but reading how 2 staff members got to the point to leaving because of harassment is crazy and it boils my blood to see some assholes (who by the way I will ban right now because we don't need your negative shit on here), post nasty comments that completely prove Sam's point.
I don't want this forum to go offline, for a second time. Sam and I re-created the forum a couple of years ago to bring Avril fans back together and discuss what they love, let's just keep it that way. Especially in album release week lol. I'll try and pop my head in more often and hopefully some other members are still willing to help out where needed, either by reporting posts or joining the staff team.

I would be totally gutted if the forums closed. I know I don't post much but I have been on Bandaids since 2004 at the least. It has been my homepage when I open up my internet for years. I don't use social media so this is where I get most of my Avril related info. I understand why the staff would want to leave if they are being abused. It's just sad that it had to come to this point. I know forums are going on the outs anyway due to social media but I'm not the biggest fan of change.... I just hope I haven't been part of the problem.

Are we not overreacting a little? I suggest you guys make some clear rules, and delete all the posts that go against the rules. Not only those posts, but ban people who have already been warned about it. Otherwise i don't know where i see myself looking for news. Besides, i enjoy atrl but it really sucks and doesnt load most of the times. Their servers are saturated.

I’m not on here enough to have witnessed the level of discomfort the current staff is feeling. I was an admin here for years on the old forum; it was an exhausting job. A lot of you guys might see it as people with titles trying to “throw their weight around” so to speak but I remember being in the old staff threads discussing how to make the forums better, how to improve the site features, how to make this place the top spot for fans to come together and how we can engage with Avril herself. There’s some things I don’t necessarily agree with on here - I do think in particular to the recent leaked snippets back and forth that demanding members not be allowed to share/discuss through PM is wrong. On the public forums absolutely do not share, we didn’t allow that back in the day either. No streaming, no download links, etc. That small detail though I’m sure isn’t the straw that broke the camels back here and I never felt the need to gripe about it. What’s the point? I don’t know why it’s so difficult for people to just be respectful to one another. This isn’t some random small site- Bandaids has been around for 17 years- the forum opened 16 years ago. We were incredibly involved with Avril on the old site and I’m sure the current staff engages with her/her team now. To see it all go down the drain because people are incapable of being decent or respectful is a damn shame- and I’m not blaming that on the staff. If I as an administrator was getting unwarranted and harassing PMs over site policy, I’d try to discuss with that member if they hadn’t had a history of that behavior and other staff and then promptly ban your ass and then your IP if you re-registered.
This site is really different than it used to be and for the most part I think that’s a good thing! I think things have been handled pretty well over the years and I remember the first time the forum “went dead”. It was down for like a year, right? I had already quit the staff by then and I wasn’t following Avril as closely anymore but I remember everybody was very hushed and old members didn’t know what the hell was happening to the site (I was bombarded with messages in social media way after I left staff asking me) which in turn pissed me off more with my old staff mates. Then a group of you guys got together on your own time and brought it back essentially from the bottom which I really didn’t see happening back then but you guys managed to keep it going and I thought that was pretty awesome so I came back and re-registered.
I really don’t have too much advice or constructive critisism; as said, I’m not on here a whole lot. Best thing I can say for now is do a fresh post stating the forum rules and don’t hesitate using that ban feature if the staff group deems necessary. I hope this site stays alive as long as it can because at the core, Bandaids is a fantastic community and the forums was always my favorite, and I think overall from how I’ve seen things handled that the forum is in good hands.
