Ok Let's get weird is so catchy and has great melodies. The instrumental is miles better than sippin on sunshine or 17. Could have replaced Sippin on sunshine and has a similar vibe to Hello Kitty and early Kesha yes. Half Full is mediocre. I really like the instrumental and the verses. The chorus is too basic and need something else. The lyrics are not that bad. Lights out should have been on the album. Very good instrumentals too. Fits on the mood better than Bigger wow and it would have been one of the better power ballads. Better than warrior, not as good as Devil, Birdie, It was in me or Head above water.
Really like these 3 "new" songs.

Let's get weird is so weird but seems catchy and fun at the same time.
Light's Out does remind me of another song too. And yeah it does sound generic but I'll still put it above half of HAW.

Let’s Get Weird sounds like something she was trying to do to adapt her pop rock sound into something more modern but it kind of doesn’t work at all. The chorus is catchy though.

Oh wow, always curious about what Avril was making under the table, such a fortune to have 3 tracks today.
In general, I like how she tried exploring new sound and cooperate into her usual sound in refered to the two more upbeat tracks. I don't know why but her upbeat songs lately give me a playing vibe since the release of Love It When You Hate Me, I don't even feel it from Sk8er Boi, sarcastic as always in the past, perhaps it does with her vocal.
I had a mixed feeling about "Let's Get Weird". I was intimidated when I hear those cheerleading composition again from "Let's Get Weird". Then I hear tenderness right after the intro. Then in chorus is having fun. I love the switch. I guess the heavy guitar balance out the silliness and cuteness from cheerleading dynamic. I kinda like that mixture, that might be where the "Dumb Blonde" chorus turned out. This song is better than "Hello Kitty" talking about comparison within same category.
I like the topic of "Half" without a doubt. Good story telling and lyrics. Again, if her significant sound is defined by cheerleading. No thanks. I wish she added something else to master the song. Yeah, I think it could have been potential track made to the final.
To put who write "Lights Out" aside, this is her hard time romantic song close to "I Will Be" and "Keep Holding On" quality. First, her voice sounds the most natural out of all "Head Above Water" tracks in terms of seriousness and strength. Maybe she wanted her voice to be young pleasing, yeah even in "Head Above Water", that often she initially or passively alter her voice when singing. This sounds present for sure. More than that, the bridge is amazing which I can't have from other singer. Nevertheless, "Bigger Wow" can be replaced with this song.

Oh 3 full Leaks! What a treat to wake up to! I think all 3 songs have potential if more work was put into them. So I agree they do sound very much like Demos. I feel like "Lights Out" would've been a great addition to HAW, Avrils Vocals are incredible here. Polish the song a little more and we'd have an amazing HAW song. Also I read on Twitter and some YouTube comments that J.R. Rotem is the reason we didn't get the song (which yeah, would make sense) I actually kinda like "Half Full" I don't really think it's better than any of the GL songs we got but I feel like it'd be a fun song to have on after you've had a drink or 2 too much haha "Let's get Weird" is surprisingly catchy in a well... weird way. It has a fun beat to it but it doesn't really feel Avril to me if that makes sense? Kinda feels more like a Kesha song? Still catchy though and would've been a fun song for AL5. But yeah overall they're pretty nice songs in my opinion (but then again I'm the kind of fan that really likes 99% of her songs anyway so take my opinion with a grain of salt haha )

The "Full-full-full" part of Half-Full sounds like an attempt at making an aggressive earworm gone horrifically wrong. As a matter of fact I can't even decide if it's a mistake so distinct it almost makes it become a decent song of an 'experimental' genre, lol . Let's Get Weird sounds decently catchy to me, it also has kind of Kesha and Gwen Stefani vibes to it at some moments, and it's certainly a better song than e.g. Sippin' on Sunshine.

Guys don’t u think all tracks are from HAW session? There is Avril mature voice and the production reminds me more Lauren Christy style. I wish we knew the info, but also HALF and LGW may be from AL session. And this “nanana” is also remind me her unreleased songs from HAW and chords in Let’s Get Weird a bit similar to “don’t stop”. So I might be wrong, but interesting what do u guys think?

Let's Get Weird is a hot mess. I can appreciate her trying a completely different style and I totally agree with the Kesha x Gwen Stefani comparison someone made here, which in theory could be quite interesting and fun, but I don't think it works as a whole. Some parts sound really cool and catchy but others sound too messy and disjointed.
Maybe it could have been great with more work put into it, though. I'm assuming these are all demos.

Lights Out is great. Should’ve been on the album.
Half/Half Full/whatever it’s called isn’t great lol. The verses had potential if they got rid of those annoying cheerleader type bits. The chorus is just awful.
Let’s Get Weird just screams Chavril to me and is 100% down there with HK and Think About It in her worst songs ever list

Surprisingly I actually like Let's Get Weird more than Half Full. I don't think I could listen to Half Full again, that chorus and that "full full full" bit sounds like a joke. It's absolutely dreadful imo. Anyway, nice having some new songs! I'll keep listening to Lights Out, for sure!

Lights Out is VERY generic to me, sorry. I like it enough to listen to it and i definitely think it fits better HAW than LMI or BW for sure. It should've been in the album as one of the tracks to fill the album. I still think that Bright would've been better with a little bit of work.
Half Full is worse than i expected it to be. I didn't like the snippet when it was released but i did had some hopes that the chrous will save the song. turns out it completely ruins the song even more. i usually like her bratty cheerleeding type of songs but this looks like a bad demo for UMS or something. VERY glad it didn't made the cut.
LGW is ok-ish.... i don't get the hate on SOS, it's not a good song, but it's a pop catchy song, not avril at all. I still think all AL5 is better than LGW (even HK yes... (if we ignore the lyrics from HK)). But at least i like it better than Half Full lol.

Where did they get info that this tracks are from AL and TBDT? The sound is so Lauren Christy alike so I wish we will get info some day ahah but I’m pretty sure all this songs are from her recent staff:)

After a couple more listens to all three new songs, I have to say that "Half Full" isn't as bad as I initially thought. It's still not a good song, but the verses and bridge are actually okay. There's still not a single song on GL that I feel could have been replaced by this one, though.
My opinion about "Let's Get Weird" hasn't changed much. I enjoy the song quite a lot, but the "nanana"s are a bit annoying and I'm not so sure about the little scat in the bridge. Mabye it's because I've heard way better scats before? Idk... And yeah, it just doesn't really sound like an Avril song...
But "Lights Out" has really grown on me. I like it very much now, I don't think it feels rushed or weirdly mixed anymore. It's still not perfect, there are a few minor things I would've done differently, but a song doesn't need to be perfect for me to love it. What I do consider to be perfect, though, are Avril's vocals. Her tone, the vibrato, the passion are just angelic. I love how you can sometimes hear a little bit of roughness/vocal fry (?) in her voice; that goes to show just how strong it can be. And those little squeaks you can hear just before some words and phrases... It's something I've noticed in Avril's voice for long time, and it's one of my favourite things about it. I've never heard another singer do anything like this. I obviously don't know if Avril does this intentionally or not, but to me, it's something that makes her voice really unique.
Imo "Lights Out" should definitely have been on the album. But I can see three reasons why Avril might have decided against that. (Also, I feel like making this essay even longer, so here goes, hehe).
First, the song isn't originally hers. It's originally by Carah Faye. We all know Avril doesn't like to add songs that she hasn't written to her albums. And I can honestly understand that. One of Avril's trademarks back in the 2000s was that she was the only (or one of very few) popstars that actually wrote/co-wrote all her songs. It was one of the things that made her different from Britney and Christina. She's kept it this way throughout her career, always making sure she has writing credits on the songs she releases. By now, it's obviously nothing very special anymore; loads of pop acts (co-)write their own songs. But I still think it would have been a bit sad to see Avril ditch this "tradition" of hers after five albums and 17 years in the music business. Maybe she thought the same?
However, there are quite a few lyrical changes in Avril's version, compared to Carah's. Assuming Avril was the one who changed those lyrics, I'm sure it'd be enough to give her writing credits. That could solve the problem of not wanting to use a song she doesn't have writing credits for. But there's another problem: Carah already performed "Lights Out" live some time in 2016 (there's a video on YouTube). If Avril had released the same song, even with the lyrical changes, three years later, it would still be clear to everyone that the song wasn't hers originally. And as I described above, Avril doesn't seem to like doing that.
The second reason why the song might not be on HAW is simply JR Rotem (he's a co-writer on "Lights Out"). He and Avril wrote so many songs together, yet only "Birdie" made the cut. Why not "Lights Out" as well? Maybe because Avril wanted to give him as little credit as possible, and that ended up being just one song, and "Birdie" just happened to win that spot. (I personally also think that "Birdie" is the better choice, as it's a little different from what Avril had done before, a bit jazzy or blues-y or something, like TMIO and "Crush". "Lights Out", in the end, is just a pop ballad.)
And the third reason, of course: Maybe Avril simply didn't like "Lights Out".
