For those who don't know her, the lead singer is named Addie. She is a bandaider from way back. I've known her for twelve years.

They are hoping for a bass player.

I'm not really a fan of Billie.. but she does her job really good. But there are a few songs I enjoy especially When The Party's Over.

Here's my two cents on Billie / her music.
I initially didn't really care about her, but when I kept hearing "she's the new Avril" I got kinda curious, so I checked out those few videos posted on this thread's first page, and then the entire album, "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?". After one listen, I concluded that it was alright, but nothing I might necessarily go back to. And new Avril? No, not really.
The following day, however, I couldn't really stop thinking about Billie's music, so I watched all her music videos on YouTube (most of them are really awesome / entertaining!), and then I listened to the full album again. Long story short, by now I find myself listening to "When We All Fall Asleep [...]" almost daily. Usually this kind of RnB/trap (??) influenced music isn't really my cup of tea, but there's something about Billie's music that I do quite like. There's definitely the creepy aspect you get in some songs (I love creepy things). I also quite like a lot of the lyrics and melodies. And the way she uses all those vocal effects is often really well done. There are so many harmonies and a lot of distortion. At times, it's a bit too much, like in "xanny" imo. But most of the time it works really well. This fast vibrato effect (or whatever it is) in "ilomilo" when she sings "hurry, I'm worried" fits wonderfully, it really underlines those lyrics imo. Or in "bury a friend", you got this recurring sound like nails on a chalkboard. I'd never thought I could like that sound so much. But despite all those little effects, you still hear an acoustic guitar and/or a piano in almost every song.
I still wouldn't say I love the album, though. So far, it's more like some sort of guilty pleasure for me. E.g. "bad guy" is kinda fun to listen to, but do I like it on a serious note? Idk. That last part kinda ruins it for me. Other songs I enjoy, but don't really know what more to do with them. Part of me also wishes Billie wouldn't mumble most of the lyrics in this low tone, but at the same time I kinda hope she keeps it the way it is now as it's part of her signature. It's similar with the creepiness / eeriness. As I mentioned before, I love creepy and eery things, but they have to be authentic, and in Billie's case it sometimes seems like she's trying a bit too hard to be super edgy. But I wouldn't want her to ditch this aspect either, 'cause it's also part of her signature. It's what I missed on her EP "don't smile at me" (listened to it only once a few days ago, thought it was okay, but nothing that really stuck out musically). So yeah, I'm kinda torn there...
But now that I know her music better, I do see some similarities between her and 17-year old Avril. Not musically, but the attitude. Just like Avril back then, there's something rebellious and tomboy-ish about her. She's different and kinda weird, and she knows it, but she owns it, lol. She doesn't try to fit in with the cool kids. She's her own cool kid.
But rock music? Dunno what Dave Grohl heard there. Did he listen to the same record? lol
Btw, my current favourite songs off her LP are "bury a friend", "ilomilo" (love how she references the former track in the line "the friends I've had to bury [...]"), and "i love you". I also enjoy "when the party's over" a lot, though I fear I've already overplayed it a little.

I keep hearing Billie's songs used on German TV (commericals as well as in the background of some shows). Some German media also seem to insist on calling her "the new Lady Gaga"...
