My conspiracy theory to entertain my mind is that government backchannels between USA, Europe, China, etc. have made a decision to try merely dampening the impact of the virus, and that they are giving up on "killing it off", because it would need measures that would damage the economy just too much. It will be a good lesson for people not to pour raw Pangolin blood on their dinner dish, and not to cook bats, either. As a matter of fact, from a vegetarian point of perspective, every single one of these diseases came to be because of livestock or other "meat industry" relatives. Bird Flu, Pig Flu, MERS, SARS,... That's not really true. Swine Flu is just one of the human flu's that was nicknamed swine flu because it has similarities in its symptoms to some types of flu that only pigs can get. MERS came from camels, who aren't livestock, and the bacteria simply evolved and made the leap between species. Same with SARS and Bird Flu. All of them are spread through touch, moisture droplets etc, not people eating animals specifically. In fact, if you cook anything properly it would kill the bacteria. A lot of these rumours and stories come essentially from this idea of "those wacky foreigners being so different and backwards and eating weird things." Camels are livestock in the ME, and I remember mass slaughter of poultry because of H5N1, so I would be greatly surprised if human exposure to animals via livestock isn't a cause of outbreaks of many of these cases. SARS's origins apparently aren't clear, but given the nature of many traditional medicines and other rare food preparations,, I would be surprised there'd be no connection between the two. I do admit, though, that I'm no expert, so take everything I say with a big pinch of salt.

You know what the stupidest thing? Here in hungary there is NO VIRUS and people are buying food supplies like tomorrow is going to be armageddon. The shelfes in every big food stores are literally empty they are so scared because the media is hyping up the virus here and everybody thinks the country will shut down by tomorrow. the media is bad and people are going crazy. What is stupid that people die because of simple illness like flu or high temperature daily with no virus and nobody cares about that anyway Well Eric, actually the flu is not caused by the temperature itself. Nobody in the world gets sick of flu because of the cold weather - simply the cold weather makes the entrance of viruses in our body easier. So there’s always a virus or a bacteria causing the flu and people can die from it every year. Also not true nobody cares about that: there is a vaccine for stagional flu, which is updated every year and even given for free (at least here) to older people. As far as the Covid-19 not being present in Hungary, I am not sure, it just depends if tampons were made or not. But I have no idea how the situation is in your country. By the way, the fact about people assaulting markets like ko tomorrow is crazy and non-sense I understand that. All I hope is that media ridimensionate the thing as long as there’s not just an economical reason behind to do that. Today the news said 18 people close to Milan are in serious bad conditions and the local hospitals have no room anymore - saturated. They are asking for help to other hospitals, otherwise they can't assist these people (some are young, will live, but need immediate assistance) Here in Central and Eastern Europe, the common consensus is that you get a cold if you're cold. Wind sweeps by your ear? Ear cold. Have a sweater that's too short? Kidney cold. Look out of a moving car's window? Eye cold. Sit on cold concrete? Bladder cold! And don't you dare doubt these notions!

I came to this thread because I was hyped for the concerts next month and now all I am is scared that she'll cancel because of this coronavirus that I literally have never been worried about. Next week we’ll know if it’s still happening or not because even though they don’t have to promote most of the upcoming shows (sold out), they will have to remind people that the tour is coming. So we’ll know if they still plan to do it or not. Ironically Italy may now be in the best position because they have the virus and are somehow trying to protect people, but the rest of the continent is just waiting to see what’s going to happen. So canceling two shows in order to see what’s going to happen in the next country can result in canceling shows last minute and that’s something they definitely would like to do - for many reasons, including money on traveling and bad reputation. I read an article today that basically all live music agencies and musicians with shows scheduled for the upcoming half a year in Europe are in between. They do not want to panic, cancel or reschedule risking the postponed shows may never happen or people will not show up, yet not canceling/postponing can be bad if something happens to people who attended the show and the information spreads (bad PR, negativity...).

Sorry but I don't think the media are overreacting when nearly 3000 people have died from it since only December.. it's not here in this country but if it was I would be stocking up for a couple of family members since they are older and already have underlying health problems

all im saying people are dying every day from other things and other health problems and i still think the media overreacting it (in my country).
but tbhis is only my opinion so dont come for me.
and i think i dealt enought with this virus, so i just cant wait for the concert in vienna and my trip to paris next month <3

Hi everyone, nice to meet you. I am from Milan! The situation is here is that everything is opening back, not because the virus is gone, but because it's causing a serious economical crisis if everything is shut down, so the Banks always decide if the virus is serious or not. Hospitals have given the warning of avoiding at all costs gatherings of people together, because if everyone must get this virus, it's "ok". but it's important not to be everyone ill at the same time, we don't have enough hospital rooms. So don't think that if everything opens back the virus alert is gone, at all. It's just an economical reason Hope to go to the show, but if it's not cancelled and the virus thing is not gone, I'm not going always, cause I may infect my mum and my dad after the show. Hi! We will arrive in Bergamo airport on 14th of March. Could you tell me please is not closed this airport? And can we get quietly to Milan? Also we leave into Brussels 18 of March in Treviso Airport. I hope we don't have any problems.

Zurich will be off as Switzerland has just banned all events involving more than 1000 people (assuming it is? no idea on venue sizes). But 999 people is just fine, lol

Lenatrue13, You should have no problems arriving in Bergamo Orio Airport. You will find an amazing weather in Milan these days, it's beautiful.
The only problem is that you will find most of museums, churches and bars closed, and if not closed, almost desert anyways.
The government is trying to re-open but people are staying in anyways. The fear is always that we may infect older people or people with a weak immunological system (my mum is like that). So we need to act non-selfish and avoid go around too much to protect them.
As far as Switzerland, I just read also Geneva International Motor Show, from 5-15 March, was cancelled.
I read Cases in Frances have doubled up in just one day and UK is considering closing schools for 2 months. Can somebody confirm?
