Funny how sometimes you don’t appreciate a song but been listening to ‘17’ recently and it’s a banger. Should have been a single over HTNGU

When I heard it’s sloppy studio production (and cramming word enunciation of “my favourite place is sittin in his car”). No.

With better production, yes I think it would have been a better lead single choice than HTNGU.

No, not as a lead or a follow up. Bad Girl and Give You What You Like should've been singles.

I think HTNGU was the perfect lead single for the era of never growing up. It has a universal message for basically everyone and all ages. And it was out during the perfect seasons, summer and graduation. Maybe 17 could have been the second single if she had sold the album as what it essentially is, a never growing up album.

We actually used HTNGU as our graduation song when we went on to the stage. 17 is one of my favorite tracks on AL and I think a mv would have been cool but I‘m not sure if it would make a good single. Hush Hush could have been a great single.

No. HTNGU was the right decision but they should've made it more indie-pop sounding as that sound was totally in back then. Like The Lumineers "Hey Ho".
remember the jay leno performance of HTNGU?? That's exactly how the song should've sounded!!

With a better production yes. Not instead of HTNGU. Instead of LMG, at least 17 does sound like Avril and not like a scrapped Nickelback song. (i don't hate the group tho, just that song seems really lame to me) (send this to the unpopular thread xD)

I love 17 because she wrote it so long ago, but she didn’t make it until AL so it really shows that she still cares about her old songs. I believe it would have made a great single with the music video in napanee..

It has the same cowriters as most of the album I always thought she wrote it for let go, and then didn’t make it until AL. That’s just what I heard so it could be wrong. Sorry if I misled anyone in anyway.
