At this point (or at least before AL7 started) I gave up on the idea of Avril going back to pop-rock...and I think many of us did as well. And I enjoyed her past eras that were more pop oriented but now that she's having a pop-rock comeback...man it just feels like it's 2006 all over again and fans are waiting for TBDT or 2003 and waiting for UMS....it's so weird that she looks younger now than she did since 2013. It makes me extremely happy to see her doing what she's best at again. I hope AL7 will bring her success not bec she needs it, but to see that we love her rockier side. I think she knows that but it will be nice fr AL7 to have a warming welcoming.

Yeah, pop rock/pop punk is where she is best at imo. Returning to back to the genre that made her really popular could spark an interest on her again not only to the old fans but also getting new fans who liked to listen to MGK for example.

She finally learned how to play with nostalgia. Her instagram looks so beautiful Not a coincidence even her followers are growing faster now She deserves way more followers ! She's also more active, she posts a story everyday.. she replies to comments.. that's why she's growing. Did you see Demi Lovato commented and Avril replied? Anyways, I realized yesterday she has 12 Million Followers on Twitter.. wow

With the pics that she's posted on Instagram lately - it's actually given me 'Let Go' vibes; especially with the intensity of some of the photos - the facial expressions she gives. I get the idea she's leaning towards more intense vibes, and that makes me want to get excited! : )

That's why she never grow much there. Once upon a time she used to be one of the biggest on facebook. She goes viral on twitter quite often as well. She still has a lot of potential. They just need to learn how to use it

I saw... almost 51 M on Facebook.. so many! if you consider how big Lady Gaga is, and she is almost 57 M..
Also on Spotify Avril grew a lot, she's now about 12 M 700 k monthly listeners and I'm pretty sure before Flames came out, so just ten days ago she was 11 M and something..

This entire era is looking very promising for her. She spent the last decade or so struggling to stand out in the sea of pop acts. Not only were her albums inconsistent in quality, they massively failed to make an impression outside her core fanbase. She became forgettable among the general public as there was nothing there to excite people or catch their interest. There were many other pop artists competing for the spotlight and doing it better than her. The most media attention she got was during the Chad era when all of a sudden all her public appearances seemed to revolve around marrying/being married to Chad, as opposed to herself as a solo artist and what she had to offer artistically at that point -- and let's face it, no one was there for it.
Now it feels like she's found her niche again. She found herself within a group of people with common interests. She found herself in a movement of pop-punk revival trying to bring a rockier sound back to mainstream. And it just feels authentic for her to want to be on the frontline of that movement. She was one of the OGs, her entire legacy in music was built upon being the pop-punk princess -- that's why she stood out and was able to cement herself as an icon. And for her to find herself back in that niche just feels so... right! I'd much rather see her get recognition for that even if it's on a smaller scale than to see her permanently remaining in the shadow of all the newer, more relevant and more interesting pop acts of today.
On top of that, she is for the first time ever taking proper advantage of her social media presence. She's improving engagement with each post, she's getting in touch with professionals to create content regularly, she's being consistent with uploads, she's interacting, inciting her audience to leave comments and express their thoughts. If she keeps this up and delivers a solid album full of bangers I deeply believe she's on her way to make her best comeback since TBDT. I don't expect her to ever be as big and relevant as she was in that time, but I'm at least expecting her to be able to excite people again, to have a vision, to show the attitude and conviction that made her the household name that she is... and that's truly all I ever wanted from her.

Spotify says she’s 328th in the world. Mad when you compare her to other artists. Pink is 118th and gets twice as many listeners at 23M and then surprisingly Kelly Clarkson is 58th in the world with 32M. I think both of them get more airplay than Avril and plus Kelly has a Christmas album which obviously has recently been played to death. Although saying that I would argue Kelly’s recent album didn’t perform very well. Interestingly Kelly was talking on her talk show recently about how other artists were mean to her in the beginning. I wonder if she’s referring to Avril who famously pushed her out of the way at the VMA’s. Although Kelly has also recently covered IWY on her talk show so I guess there’s no real bad blood.

Let Go will hit 1 billion streams on spotify sometime this year. It earned more than 200 million just last year. Now it is around 900 million. She's getting better at streaming. Now with a new album, and an upbeat one things can get even better

For the record, Avril didn’t “push” Kelly, it only looked that way because the award got stuck in her hair and she was trying to untangle it. Considering Avril herself was pretty new at the same time, I don’t see her bashing anyone just because they came from a TV show. Plus Avril gave her Breakaway so if she really thought Kelly was a lesser artist because she came from a show, she probably wouldn’t have given her one of her songs.
Anyway, back to topic, I was watching this video from a media company called Clevver Style where they upload YouTube videos about fashion and lifestyle geared towards millennials. They recently did a video on TikTok aesthetics, where they had to create an outfit with that aesthetic, one of them being “e-girl.” The girl who did that outfit said she took some inspiration from Avril when putting her outfit together (plaid skirt, leather belt, chains). Just goes to show people still remember Avril and know her for that style, even to this day.
Oh and Miley recently named checked Avril as well in an interview she did for her Plastic Hearts album. Something about the first song she ever wrote as a child and how “Avril Lavigne” it was or something.

Throughout the year Avril and Kelly have the same amount of monthly listeners on Spotify but then Kelly starts dominating in November when people start streaming Xmas music. Pink is generally bigger than both and never had an era that really unlike Kelly's and Avril's last eras.

I hope all of you maintain the notion in how good she looks and how invested she seems into this record, if the record flops again or it doesn't meet your expectation.
I truly hope she puts out a record she loves. She truly looks amazing in the last photos, even though I don't see the UMS vibe except for the black hair.

I fully expect this record won't be a huge commercial success. Although I think it has a chance to perform better than HAW with the right marketing as well as putting things out in a more timely manner. But to compare, HAW debuted at #13 on the 200 albums chart, her only record to debut outside the top 10 and first to debut outside of the top 5 since her debut album. The highest charting single was HAW, which only charted at #64 on the Hot 100, by far her lowest charting lead single to date.
A lot of the commercial failure of this album can be chalked up to the fact the music wasn't exactly what's popular these days as well as a really messy promo schedule and canceled singles. Provided they fix a lot of those issues this time around, I think she has a chance to do a little better than that. It'd be nice if the lead could at least chart in the top 40 this time, with maybe the album in the top 10. Miley managed to debut at #2 and her music is very '80s pop/rock. There seems to be a resurgence in this type of music so she should definitely try to capitalize on it now while people care.
I don't have a lot of expectations for this album considering what we've dealt with in the past. But everything sounds very promising so far, from her enthusiasm to more social engagement, to the type of people she's collaborating with. It's shaping up to be hopefully her strongest and most consistent record since TBDT. She seems to know what she wants, both sonically and visually. I think everyone's just hoping she puts out a quality record that she's passionate about and that we don't have to wait too long for it, or that there isn't a messy promo schedule and canceled singles again.
