Maybe it’s time to have a thread for all the speculations about the next album to be? Even though we are still in the HAW era we know she has been writing some new music in the meantime for the future.
Things said about the new music: She’s been writing since summer 2019 -Travis Clark has been working with her writing songs -She wants the album to be “more up, fun, aggressive” and bring back loud guitars and drums -Possible collab with MGK -Has worked on some fun country rock songs

I'm honestly not holding out hope she's going to release music that soon. It's great she has been working already on new music and everything we've heard about it so far, but we've heard this since GL era. Most of the early stuff doesn't get used and she spends 2-4 years working on the album. I really hope we will get music by next year, but you know, given her history, I'm not taking her word as scripture just yet lmao

I think next year will probably be too early for an album, especially if she’s touring. Maybe in 2022. Would be a good way to celebrate 20 years in the business!

She's touring in 2021...
Then she releases maybe a single mid 2022, then the album later in 2022, then the tour in 2023. If we're lucky.
She's not the type to end the tour in 2021 and immediately begin a new era

She has a lot of downtime and seems inspired right now so I think it depends how the rest of this year goes and how much is written and recorded to a good quality. She could release a new song before the end of the year, perform it on tour then finish off the album and have it out before the end of 2021. It makes the tour a mix of HAW and the new album

It would make her whole kind of "comeback"...weird I think.

I agree that it could be a combined tour for both albums. If she does not do something new like at least a proper new single all the hype of the previous tour would have died down, she probably won't sell so many tickets as she did the first time. Also, she is pretty active lately and maybe that could help with any new music that comes out. People always seem to forget her. Maybe also with all this accoustic and live stuff people will notice that she is talented. Not some lip-syncing over autotuned everyday singer who can't even write never mind play music. She should cash in on that but yeah, knowing her and team I dunno. Timing is not their strong point sometimes.

Regarding the 20 years in the biz thing.... Wouldn't it be fabulous if she released some unreleased tracks? Like a greatest hits but with 'unheard' songs? Maybe re-record one for a single. Or atleast some show or something singing some Let Go songs she hasn't in years. Also... Even though I would hate waiting so long... If she doesn't do something very early next year, it would be promo then to wait and to release AL7 album sort of around the 20 year mark. They could use that.

I think it would be really cool if Avril did something similar to what Garbage did for their debut - they released a remastered edition of the album featuring all of the b-sides and remixes released throughout the era in addition to demo versions of a bunch of the songs. As for the seventh album, I'm excited to hear that Avril wants to go with a more fun, "loud guitars" sound, although I'll take that coming to fruition with a grain of salt for now.

I wonder how feasible it would really be though for Avril to release old Let Go stuff when the material belongs to Arista (which is now a folded label anyway, so no idea who owns it now. Sony?) They could potentially re-release the album with the officially released B-sides like I Don't Give, Why, Get Over It, and Falling Down, maybe they'd dig up her demo of Breakaway despite the fact it leaked years ago. But it's a question of who owns the material and she'd either have to purchase it in order to release it which I don't really see her doing, or re-record the masters. Some have suggested her re-recording the whole album might be cool, but to be honest that would really ruin it for me.

The 2021 tour is no longer called the Head Above Water Tour... But it doesn't mean she's putting out a new record soon imo.
I think she simply will keep the same setlist, but maybe she will perform We Are Warriors and also I won't let you go if she really re-recorded it.
Also, Maybe, she will release a new single before the tour, like a promo single, which will be part of AL7, (if you remember KHO went out way earlier than Girlfriend). But it will happen only if she already will have a 80% of the record ready, otherwise she won't.

With KHO was different, it was a soundtrack, not a promotional song for TBDT.
anyways, i think she should release a new album as quick as possible, 2021, especially if she wants to release a 20 years "something". if she does celebrate her 20 annyversary it will obviously not everlap with a new album era. so a new album is expected for 2021 or 2023 (or after that), and then the wait would be too long (again).
To be honest, she's not in the priviliged place where she was after TBDT to take 4 years to make an album. If she really is passioante about music again as she claims, and if she still wants to sell albums, she's got to release music as soon as possible, even if it's just an EP.
I'm afraid she will become like these 90's 2000's rock bands that release an album every 4-5 years. She still has the potential to be big again, but she obviously needs to do a little work. I think Dumb Blonde is the perfect example. it had a lot of potential to become a hit especially with the buzz Avril x Nicki, (it even had a shade to Cardi B, what elese do you want?). It was still her style, it was pop-rock, it was Avril. I still think it didn't fit HAW and that it's not her best song, but it could have become a hit.
What I want to say is that she needs a little bit of originality and to keep working. I would say 2021 is the perfect time to release a new album or EP. I don't think her career will benefit if she waits too much again.

If I'm being perfectly honest I don't see Avril becoming "big" ever again, it depends what you mean by her becoming "big" again. I don't think Dumb Blonde would have necessarily become a hit, maybe with proper promotion and really emphasizing Nicki's involvement it could have reached the top 20 or even top 10. But I think even Nicki is not really that big anymore.
I think that Avril still has a really dedicated fanbase that will buy her music, so she should release music more often to retain the fanbase she has. Whether that will translate into new fans and make her "big" again is pretty doubtful. I don't see her gaining any new fans unless she puts out something really spectacular that either is a lot different from what she has done before (TMIO, Crush, these new country songs), or is different from what's currently popular that makes these young kids check out her old music. Especially with current stars like Billie talking about Avril, I think a lot of young kids are inclined to check out Av's older music.
I think if Avril is already working on new stuff, she should put it out even on just an EP instead of rewriting the album over and over for the next 2-3 years like she's been doing with the last couple albums. Especially if she plans to tour in 2021, having some new music would make the wait more worth it for those fans. And by then HAW will be 2 years old, and she's not even playing that many of the new tracks. Considering how long everyone's had to wait, she should throw in a few new tracks from AL7 to make up for it and feel like it was something special worth waiting for. In this day and age people move on very quickly and new music is coming out all the time, I think if she wants to keep her fanbase interested she should put out music ASAP as long as she's already been working on it. I don't think she will ever be a big artist again, her golden era has passed, but I think she could still do her best to maintain the very dedicated fans she already has.
