Led Zeppelin: Our music was pretty radical says Jimmy Page
The world of rock music is an ever-expanding one, full of different takes on the genre. With classic rock, American bands like Guns and Roses come to mind, while the Rolling Stones and Beatles can even join the list. More modern bands which toe the line between pop, metal and other genres are also worth including. With all the various bands, singers and sub-genres in rock, it can be tough to get a real handle on all of these elements to become a rock aficionado. Despite this, rock fans pride themselves on being the best of the best, and learning as much about their beloved genre as possible. But do you have what it takes to answer these 15 questions currently? Here is our tough rock music quiz, and for pub quiz fans, the questions are listed below so you can test your friends’ knowledge as well.

I didn't know most of these either, I'm surprised Avril was included here considering she's really more pop than rock.

I only got 7 of 15 But very happy Avril Lavigne got some credit, and a question, and a picture! I recall years ago reading in a music forum, how many Led Zeppelin fans were also Avril Lavigne fans too! I really enjoyed watching the entire video about Led Zeppelin!

I basically agree.
However, I also think that these songs all have some pretty rocking parts to them, there are plenty of driving guitars riffs in all of theses songs: 'Together', 'Take Me Away' and 'Losing Grip' and they could arguably added to that list... And maybe even 'Fall To Pieces', 'Don't Tell Me', and perhaps even 'Who Knows', 'How Does It Feel' and 'He Wasn't', 'Freak Out' and finally 'I Always Get What I Want'. I guess I just should have said most of the 'Under My Skin' album, and probably why she was mentioned in this rock music list, lol

It's just that she's mostly pop rock or pop punk. Like HTNGU is also rock. There's subgenres of rock and that's where Avril fits. Just leans more towards pop especially nowadays. Btw the article was really fun. I always wanted to do a pub quiz but it's not really a thing where I live.

WOW This really make me happy early in the morning. From all rock singers and bands around world they choose Avril. I am so proud and happy now. Could songs like push, stop standing there and similar songs be rock songs I mean they are much more closer to pop than rock, but I allways consider them to be pop rock ballads Probably I am wrong but in my head rock music is: singer + guitars + drumms + maybe bassguitars, of course you can add more instruments into your sound if you want And I get 2 of 15, Axl Rose and Complicated 😀

In my opinion back then when Avril was a teenager had a more suitable vocal register for singing rock songs. I never understood the people who were shocked by the transition from UMS to TBDT. TBDT even approaches punk, and the difference with the first two records is perhaps that the lyrics are more positive. Avri will always be a pop artist with strong rock tendencies, she has always been since her debut. I also find it very interesting that with HAW she touched the Christian Rock territory, something we’ve not heard from her before.

For me the songs of hers I would consider rock are:
LG: Losing Grip, Unwanted
UMS: All songs but DTM, HW, MHE, HDIF, Who Knows, FTP, and maybe Slipped Away. I think all these but HW are pop/rock, while HW is pop punk. Same with IAGWIW and Take It
TBDT: This is a pop punk album, maybe IDHTT can lean closer to rock
GL: None
AL: Maybe Bad Girl
HAW: None
Most of her music I would consider pure pop, pop/rock, or pop punk. A lot of GL is basically pop or singer/songwriter, acoustic.

Maybe Not Enough, a rock ballad? It's a pretty heavy song IMO. But maybe it's more a pop-punk ballad though
Bad Girl is another rock song of hers, and it's among her heaviest to date.
As for HAW, maybe Birdie would enter into that category, more alternative. And many consider the title track a christian rock song as well.

There is no song from HAW I would consider to be rock, except maybe IFILWTD. Birdie to me is pop and HAW could maybe be considered Christian rock. I always thought of Not Enough as being pop/rock or maybe having a tad bit of a country influence, not rock or heavy at all.
