I'm jealous of the fans who became fans earlier on in Avril's career than I did. I feel like I missed out, lol. I think I've spent countless hours doing anything and everything Avril-related to make up for the lost time though!
I started listening to Avril in January 2011 (with Sk8er Boi) and I was 17 at that time. Since then I was discovering more and more Avril songs. I became a stan in July 2013.
I wish I knew Avril from the beginnig. Of course I can watch lots of her old videos and interviews and photos and everything, but I will never know what it would have been like to really experience the whole eras. It makes me sad.
I liked her from the start since 2002. I was 11 at the time. As I remember my room was covered with her pictures, her face was everywhere then I started to gave them away and 13 years later only one single poster is hanging on the wall..
I started listening to Avril in 2007, when I was 9 years old. I simply loved the "Girlfriend" music video and then I got the whole album for my 10th birthday in May and I immediately fell in love with it. I soon started looking for more Avril songs and bought LG and UMS, and I also started collecting posters and stuff, and through the years I learned more and more about Avril (her past, facts etc.). And well, now I'm here She's the first singer I've ever been so interested in, the first one that immediately got me thinking "this isn't temporary, this is forever".
Let Go! I heard Complicated when I was 7, in 2002, and I liked it, but I didn't know her name and stuff... But I really started liking her on 2003, when I was 8 and fell in love for I'm With You and got to know her a bit better since my dad also started listening to her music. I remember I was already totally crazy over her when UMS came out, and I was only 9 at the time. That made me start listening to rock music quite early, what scared my mom a lot at the time from what I can remember. LOL
Since 2002 with Let Go.... I was just turning 10 about a week after that cd came out. Joined band aids in 2003.... Bandaids was (and still is) the place to be for all things avril. She is the only singer I truly followed, sure there were others I loved but I've never actually followed anyone quite like I did avril.
Yeah I've also never followed an artist/band as I do Avril. And man I feel old at 29 seeing all the teenagers on here. Seems quite a lot of people started listening to her between 8-13. Wow, never realised. But there are still lots of different age groups which I think is great. And its also great to see so many sticking with her for so long from their teenage years into their adult life. I don't think there are many artists who can say the same thing.

I want to say during the Let Go Era, it was in the summer of 2003 when I found her CD. But I think she was about over with that era and was beginning Under My Skin... I was 8 years old. I didn't officially start "following" her from the beginning of eras until The Best Damn Thing. I was 12 years old. So, really, I wanna say The Best Damn Thing, or at least between UMS and TBDT, is when I started listening to her more often.
I started listening to Avril Lavigne when I was 16 or 17 in high school in 2003. My friends sister had the Let Go and I asked who the heck was singing such catchy music and I promptly went out and got it and am probably one of the biggest fans ever.
