She's kind of dead here but it's still iconic how she performed at Rock Am Ring. She made pop rock music but she was still a popstar. It shows how cool she was back then.

Seeing performances in locations such as the one in "World Famous Rooftop" or to a lesser extent the "Highline Ballroom", just distract me with how packed and stuffy they seem. Like, even before COVID, being in a crowd itself isn't the most refreshing feeling the the world to say the least, but being inside in a rather small hall with not-the-tallest ceilings, and packed wall to wall? Anyway, one memorable moment that I think hasn't been mentioned yet is her performance in memory of grandfather's passing. The song tomorrow maybe isn't really something that makes you stop and awe, but here it is just hearbreaking yet special in a way to see Avril struggling with her emotions to get through the performance. It kind of reminds me of how Billie Joe of Green Day has sometimes trouble getting through Wake Me Up When September Ends, as the song references his father, or Taylor Swift's Soon You'll Get Better - she's even avoiding that song herself entirely, because it strikes so close. " And I want to believe you, when you tell me that it'll be okay, I try to believe you... not today." Totally agree about that performance of Tomorrow. She was so young then and just found out a few hours before her show her grandfather died. Imagine being that young, in a foreign country and learning that news just before you’re about to perform. That performance always makes me sad to watch but it’s really one of her best moments. A classy way to pay tribute to him and close out the show and major kudos to her for not canceling. I’m always in awe of how she was able to sing that well while crying. And her band coming to hug her at the end is so sweet.

Yeah, and I think that for anybody in that audience who was going through a loss of someone (or maybe something) it was an immensely valuable moment to have her show the hurt and the sadness she was feeling. I think that occasions when artists share a "real life" moment of their lives are surely one of the most difficult things to do in their work, but their vulnerability can be really helpful to a lot of listeners - younger ones even more so, since they may only feel comfortable processing their feelings through music, as any other interaction may be too stressful and uncomfortable.

That "movement" (lol) wasn't started by Avril anyway, I believe it was a tshirt and book before she may have adopted the sentiment!

She has let go her boyish voice and release her head voice. I always love her voice in acoustic, especially in Nobody's Home, how rich is her voice

You can tell how good My Happy Ending was as song and live performance by the reaction from the crowd I don't think she was sick. I know during the UMS era there was a time where she looked worn out by the schedule but I don't think that happened here. I think she's just being Avril. Plus her vampire self is probably not used to festivals in the sun.

In 2003/2004 where she had that red eyeshadow look. Love it. Can't be bothered to find the picture though

Unpopular opinion but I never liked the red eyeshadow she did a lot in UMS era. It always made it look like she had just dunked her face in a pool of chlorine.
