25 tracks (this will make you really hard to choose the tracks)
The tracks can be chosen from the bonus tracks too.
But they shouldn't be cover songs, such as Knocking on Heaven's Door, Bad Reputation, or How You Remind Me.

All the singles except TBDT(song) and HK(but I do like it a lot), KHO, HDIF Goodbye, HH, Fly(just because its so special to her) and Naked is what I would choose. I want a double disc!

Um would you plz 'list' the tracks in the order you want? 25 songs
The order of the tracks is very important. It determines the overall flow of the album.
You can get either a melancholy sound, or a bratty sound.
You can even make the album cute by focusing on some of the 'cute tracks' in the first two albums.
I focused on reflecting how Avril changed as she grew up.

I started with the song that started it all! kept the eras together as I would like to see the changes she went through. Also I was trying to be a little bit realistic as to which songs would genuinely go on such a album if she ever did make it. Also I arranged it so there are mellow parts and some parts to rock out and sing along to when you are alone ha ha. Ended it with 'Let em know that we're still rock and roll!' ha ha just to say there's more where this came from and of course a big 'middle finger up to the sky' to all the haters as well.... ; )

Also I included Fly bc I kind of like it and it's so special to her. I suppose I was being a tiny bit biased to TBDT and AL there ha ha. I still listen to AL a lot. I guess What the Hell, The Best Damn Thing and Losing Grip (had I had one more spot it would've gone up there) would probably be on the real list if she really made one and Fly wouldn't feature.

Avril shouldn't necessarily release a best of or a greatest hits, but more of a singles collection. But to most people this is the same so whatever.
I liked the booklet of Britney's singles collection. They printed scenes of the videos and wrote what the song achieved and why it's included on the CD (e.g. "Song Title" was a top 10 hit in 20 countries and certified gold, platinum in 10 countries, the video was directed by the famous music video director *insert famous music video director's name here*).

The deluxe edition of Britney's single collection was done nicely also- they included the physical copies of each single as well as a DVD of all her music videos.
A "best of" collection I think would be problematic. There'd undoubtedly be songs that certain fans would have wanted to be included that wouldn't be. If album tracks like ABO, Together, Runaway, etc. are eligible there would be fans that would want Innocence, Freak Out, etc. What her "best" songs are is totally subjective and there would be complaints that certain songs were or weren't included. I personally don't like the idea of a "best of" collection at all. As greeneyedsoul said, a singles collection/greatest hits is probably better.

It's so difficult to make a list.. many singers have 3-4 top songs but Avril is different, we can make tens of different lists.. there are fans who want ballads and others that like melanchony songs, fans that are captivated by a single era (like UMS for example) or by the first Avril period.. i try to insert all my favourite songs if possibile including all his music career, starting by the first song I listened in 2002 (Skater Boy) and finishing with her last song (Fly)

I agree with a singles collection being better than a "best of" collection. I know that personally I probably wouldn't be completely happy about what songs would be chosen and not chosen for it. And in actuality, I could just make my own custom "best of" songs in a playlist if I wanted to. (I thought Britney's Singles Collection was done really well too. I have the version that has a music video DVD with it). Greatest Hits CDs are mostly put out for non-fans and moderate-fans who basically only know Avril for her singles from hearing them on the radio. Of course die-hard fans would probably purchase the album, but they would undoubtedly already have all the music that would be on the album (except for any previously unreleased tracks). So I think Greatest Hits albums are best done when they include most, if not all, of an artist's singles. One my ultimate pet peeves, actually, is when artists release greatest hits albums and leave a lot of singles off of it; and I also don't like when they mismatch all the singles and they're out of order. Here is how my list would go: 1. Complicated 2. Sk8er Boi 3. I'm With You 4. Losing Grip 5. Knockin' On Heaven's Door 6. Don't Tell Me 7. My Happy Ending 8. Nobody's Home 9. He Wasn't 10. Fly I went over the 25 track limit and included Kockin' On Heaven's Door, but I'd personally include it since it was a single back in the day. I think it would awesome if the album had an accompanying DVD that had all the music videos on it (and maybe the Mobile, Goodbye, and Bad Girl videos since neither Fall To Pieces or Keep Holding On have videos. A CD or DVD of live performances would be cool too. Maybe I put more thought into this than I needed to, but oh well  |
