The sky is the limit!! What is your book about? Mine is a love story with a twist.. I hope to have it published by the end of the year.. the book is about missing people and cold cases. I'm not going to get it published this year though. I wish to finish it and then re-write and polish it so that I'd be able to send it to publishers within a year.. That sounds interesting. How long have you been working on it? I'm writing on a novel, too. I've been into this project for almost two years now, but I'm not rushing things or create fake inspiration when there isn't one. I wouldn't call mine a crime series though, it's basically built of two parts, they kind of work together like Alice in Wonderland and Through the looking Glass. It's a bit psycho, but also strongly political, ironic and absurd. Its focus is pointed to a young woman, who doesn't really know who she is and she creates this fictional character of herself to discover her true self, but that version (or her even other version) does only live in her imagination. Something like that.

My book has been rejected 3 times by publishers - I am not saying I have the best writing skills but I mean a poorly written book like 50 Shades got published, one would think that something better would stand a chance... I am going to publish it myself after I saved enough money - every person should be granted a chance to make their dreams a reality! I have been working on this series since 2011 - this is my masterpiece and one way or another I will publish it because I believe my hard work should pay off - never doubt in yourself!!!

Keep trying to get it published if you believe in it. 3 publishers isn't really a lot. A lot of publishers automatically reject things and only accept stuff through an agent. You should try finding an agent too.

J.K. Rowling's original manuscript for Harry Potter was rejected by 12 different publishing houses. I found this link about famous books getting rejected: www.buzzfeed.com/stmartinspress/20-brilliant-authors-whose-work-was-initially-reje-7rut#.xwV17Z1xNAmong them, it says Lord of the Flies was rejected 20 times, Gone with the Wind 38 times, The Diary of Anne Frank 15 times, A Stephen King novel 30 times, and A Wrinkle in Time 26 times. Additionally it says the author of Little Women was told to stick to teaching, Rudyard Kipling was told he didn't know how to use the English language, and Beatrix Potter had to self-publish her first book. Just because a book gets published does not necessarily mean it's because it's good. You know the saying, sex sells. So that's one reason. A lot of books like that are also made to be sold to the masses and are very commercial and universally appealing to a lot of people. Most authors will have their work rejected at least a few times, especially if, as orange sky mentioned, they don't have an agent. You basically either need to keep trying until you've made it (also, never go for the ones that ask you to pay them to publish it or to read your manuscript!), or self-publish. Eventually someone will say yes. Look at J.K. Rowling- she was rejected 12 times, yet Harry Potter went on to be the best selling book series with over 400 million copies sold. Some people in this world just don't know shit. One person's opinion is just that- an opinion. Just because they think you/your work isn't good, does not mean that they're right.

Yes, I'm writing one! It's called "Broken" and I'm planning to publish it when I'm old enough. I'm also planning to write more during that time.

Something like that. You seem to have such a vivid imagination!! I would totally read that book.. Dont stop following your dreams!! Thank you! And you shouldn't either. I know it's hard to find a good publisher and that's just because people like to read bullshit these days. I wouldn't take it as an offence when I get turned down, in the end they have to make money with you and when they don't see that coming, they won't put their energy into a project. I can imagine that some of them actually like your plot but just don't see how to make money outta it. I'm one of those people who like to think way too complicated and so is my book. Now of course I love my friends, but most of them said that it's really hard to read. That's what I am aiming at so it's a compliment, really, but I know it will be hard to find a publisher. I hardly read books, because I find them all too shallow, but apparentely that's what people wanna read these days. These people wouldn't come across my book or tell themselfs they need to read it. They would most probably be like "Well, no, the world's a bad place already so I don't need more drama, I want to read something nice". But my goal's not getting popular with my stories, I want to kind of create this counterflow to all the bullshit that's arising. And so I know I won't change the world, but I will add something to it. In what language is your book written?

This makes me feel better I am thinking of rather just going for self-publishing. It's a bit pricey but at least you know your book is out there in the world and that your hard work did pay off...

wow, i was looking for a thread about writing here! I'm writing my first big novel (I wrote 9 chapters so far) and at the same time, i'm creating a second project which I hope to finish by the end of this year! I've also written 10 short stories and when I complete 25 (i already have the ideas and the summaries ready) I will translate them into English (using an expert of course) and then, I will self-publish them
