I'm here. Well kind of. There's not much going on with Avril at the moment so there's not much to talk about, and to be brutally honest this site has become a bit boring for me. There's even a shortage of General Discussion threads which have nothing to do with Avril, but give us something to talk about while we wait for her next thing. Btw, "Real Bandaids" had the same issue sometimes, so this isn't a complaint about the temp site.

So, the UK election has been going on... voting yesterday, results through the night and a few still to come in this morning. Wales results are; Labour: 25Conservatives: 11PC (Plaid Cymru): 3 Lib Dems: 1Northern Ireland results are; DUP: 8 SF: 4 SDLP: 3 UUP: 2 and 1 independent Englands results are; Conservative: 309Labour: 202Lib Dems: 6UKIP: 1 Green: 1 Scotlands results are; SNP (Scottish National Party): 56Conservatives: 1Labour: 1Lib Dems: 1
So, the current overall UK results are; Conservatives: 320Labour: 228 SNP (Scottish National Party): 56 Lib Dens: 8The SNP have truly won over Scotland, winning 56 out of 59 seats Wales have voted a majority for Labour with 25 out of 40 seats NI have voted for a bunch of Irish parties ...So despite the best effort of these countries (see the top yellow half of the UK map for Scotland, the colourful part of the island to the West - aka Ireland, and the coloured section on the west coast of England - aka Wales), the Conservatives have won The SNP will be chomping at the bit to have another independence referendum! Hopefully at least this will make people realise why we feel that our voices don't count...

Honestly, I didn't vote SNP and don't like the idea of a second independence referendum - at least not anytime in the next few years anyway. Although I am glad that they had such a sweeping victory across Scotland since it means we will have a more prominent voice in Westminster.

The biggest worry is going to be an EU referendum (I'm just assuming there will be one since the Tories seem to hate the EU so much)

I never got why all the disdain and skepticism towards the EU- for sure it's not reciprocated in the continent. I can understand you want to keep your own currency and defend your independence in some other issues, but sometimes when one hears some British politicians is like...they thought we want to conquer the island or force you to drive on the right or something

I can understand you want to keep your own currency and defend your independence in some other issues, but sometimes when one hears some British politicians is like...they thought we want to conquer the island or force you to drive on the right or something I think basically it's because they want us to keep the pound, give us control of our own borders and mainly I guess - to avoid the eurozone bailouts. As far as I can tell they are hoping to renegotiate our membership and then have an in-out referendum. I do agree with these points to a degree, but certainly not strongly enough to want to leave the EU. Ironically, some of the arguments they have for the UK leaving the EU are similar to the arguments the SNP had for Scotland leaving the UK (Scotland don't want England to make laws on their behalf, the tories don't want the EU to make laws on their behalf...)

@stuntbrick I hope the renegotiations will go well, I know they didn't last time but they did say they're all ears.
