I feel like Cest la Vie, Teenage Nightmare and Too fast to Live were made for the sk8er boi movie she was supposed to make which by this point i dont think its happening anymore It does seem like there's a handful of songs from these sessions which would fit a Sk8er Boi movie (Rock Boyfriend and All I Wanted too) and that might have been in her head during some of the writing sessions |

While listening to C’est La Vie I randomly remembered that IG story from a really long time ago where she was wearing rubber gloves and recording like a little beat with it and stomping her feet. I wonder what that ever got used for and I thought for a second it could be in this song around 13 seconds but it might not be the right tempo.
Now that I’m thinking about it actually what she was doing with the gloves I think was too fast for it to be in this song.

C'est la vie gives me super good vibes. The lyrics are on point and the melody too. It's too similar to other songs on Love sux and probably not as good as most of the album but it is good. Super happy to hear it and we can say the discards from Love Sux are the highest quality of all her albums (sides b and discards). She was really inspired in 2020 and 2021.

The song is good, in my opinion! I almost wish it was included on the deluxe. The lyrics seem to vaguely be about herself pre-record deal, but over all I think it has a good message and it’s kinda catchy.

"C'est la Vie" is okay at best imo. I like what it's trying to say, but the way it's doing that is kinda lame. The lyrics are quite repetitive, all I really hear is "life is a bitch", "fuck them all", "prove them wrong" - there's basically zero depth to it. This, and the overall sound, also make the song seem really childish/juvenile imo. And the autotune... I don't think I'll ever understand why they used so much autotune during this era in the first place. It just doesn't sound good, it kills all the emotion. I really hope they'll stop doing that for AL8 'cause I'm really tried of having to force myself to look (or rather listen) past this in order to try and enjoy the songs.
All this being said, I guess the song is still kinda fun and I appreciate that they tried to do something else than the whole boy-bashing thing. So, it's not awful, but it's not good either. It's just okay. I'm glad I finally heard it, but I doubt I'll go back to it often, if at all.

i like C’est la Vie! especially where she says “fuck ‘em all, prove ‘em wrong, in the end we’re gonna carry on”. that’s quite catchy and is stuck in my head.
im very excited to hear the other new leaks! super curious about ‘Dancing with a Hurricane’. im thinking it’s similar to ‘Avalanche’ but can’t be sure.

I like that the song seems to be specifically about being in the music industry, especially as a woman, the pressure to look and act perfectly which is just not who she is. “If it works I’m amazing, if not then I’m crazy.” The double standard in particular that female artists have to deal with, like fighting for their ideas but once they’re successful everyone suddenly praises them for it. Like how no one else wanted her to do pop rock but once it became big then every artist started doing it. Or how Taylor had to fight for 1989 to be a pop album and it ended up becoming the most awarded pop album of all time.
