Is it only me who thinks Close just sounds outdated? Sounds like the type of EDM that was popular around 2013-2016. And yeah they’ve done something to her voice that just hurts my ears listening to it.

Dying at the lyrics in the snippet being “I’m not looking for a best friend, I want a ring from Tiffanys”. Yes WE KNOW Avril lol. Self aware queen. Close sounds the best but I can never really tell much from a snippet. Don’t really like whatever they’ve done with her voice on Close though, but may just be the bad quality I don't like the lyrics in this song, what happened to Avril not wanting expensive jewellery. 'You can't buy me with something shiny cause I am not like everyone'. Its as though she's going back on her word in her song 🙈 |

Yeah I don’t like it either. I know it’s probably meant in good fun but it’s like saying finding the right partner doesn’t matter and all she cares about is the ring. It’s just shallow.

There’s no certainty that Close is from this era though. I don’t even believe Psychopath is from the HAW sessions. Sounds too different from the vibe of the record. There’s no way it’s from that time.

I heard a longer snippet of a Ring from Tiffany and my idea is that it's just a fun and ironic song. Lyrics are not meant to be taken seriously.
I remember a line saying "I didn't shave my legs just for you to watch TV" or something like that lol. It's probably about being ignored and not taken care of? It sounded fun though.
I'll give a better opinion when/if we get to hear it in full.
