I’m trying to get a sense how long the average LBS on the forum has been an Avril fan. Just pick the closest album or associated year to when you started calling yourself a fan.
For example, I’m old as dirt and was when Let Go came out but I only really became a fan around HAW (I’m slow, what can I say) so I chose HAW in the poll. Just pick the EARLIEST date or album that applies.
As always, thanks in advance for your participation!

The Best Damn Thing, I was a bit too young for the first 2 albums. So I joined in during the 'Girlfriend' hype when I was 13 😁

I was obsessed with her already during Let Go, like from Sk8er Boi music video. That was the moment for me. However, I think the deep emotional connection that I have had for a very long time and that makes me keep up with her until now, was established with UMS. That emo style, the lyrics, her anger - also me being a young teenager - just clicked with me like nothing before. So I voted for UMS because I think during Let Go she was just the coolest girl I have ever seen, but with UMS I was emotionally invested

I remember being really fascinated by Avril and her image since at least TBDT era when i first saw her on stardoll and the girlfriend mv, but i can't say i was a "real fan" until the self-titled when HTNGU became popular among some of my friends

Since LG. My brother told me he’d seen a song on one of the music channels and thought I’d like it. I listened and said it was rubbish, because I was 10 years old and definitely not about to admit my older brother was right about something. Anyway, the song was Complicated and I absolutely did like it and that’s where it started for me. I was obsessed with her as a pre/young-teen.

My father got me “Let Go” but I’d say I truly became a fan fan during UMS and to a greater extent in 2006 when all of her interviews and stuff were accessible on YouTube! I used to be in the trenches in those comments on my account I wasn’t supposed to have like “Ummm actually this is rock how dare you???” lool I think I got more into it during Under My Skin (and alternative music through Avril saying her influences) because I was too young when “Let Go” was released to get as invested 😂 Like “Dora The Explorer”/ nick jr young loooool But by the time I was developing as an actual person and talking to friends at school I was into her stuff. Totally different genre and artist but I remember being obsessed with Mariah Carey’s albums/voice then too 😆

My story is basically the exact same as mario's. I was too young during the first two eras, but in my pre-teens, when "Girlfriend" was released, I truly became conscious of Avril for the first time and immediately fell in love with her and her music, and I haven't looked back since. Btw, I've always found it kind of fascinating how the very era that (initially) disappointed so many early fans, simulatenously gave Avril a ton of new fans. I guess it proves that the intense reinvention for TBDT era worked.

Thank you to everyone who’s participated so far. There have already been way more responses than I was expecting! And so many comments too. I love hearing stories about how people came to call themselves Avril fans. Clearly those first three albums in five years had a big impact throughout the double-oughts.

I was just a little too young for the Let Go era (I'm in my mid-twenties now), but I have a very distinct memory of my parents driving me home from a softball game and My Happy Ending playing on the radio, and absolutely loving it, and so I became a fan. Although I wasn't exactly old enough to buy my own CDs and whatnot, but I remember the "Girlfriend/Best Damn Thing" craze of 2007, and at that point I was old enough with an iPod so in 2009 I was eagerly awaiting the release of Goodbye Lullaby (which I unfortunately had to wait 2 years for lol). So I consider myself a fan since 2004.
