LG: TINS and ABO UMS: honestly I think most of them could’ve been singles because everything she did was turning to gold at this point. I think Who Knows could’ve been a good one. TBDT: Runaway GL: …….none of them? AL: 17. I’ve no idea why anything else was picked as a single over this. HAW: Crush. It just screams radio to me lol LS: All I Wanted. Anything but LIWYHM really Girl you just said my favorite song off of every album LMAO taste recognises taste 🤝

LG: ABO, although I can't remember if that actually became a single or stayed an abandoned single. I think it's different enough from Complicated, Sk8er Boi, and IWY to add more diversity to the singles and is still radio-friendly.
UMS: I've always loved Together, but I definitely don't think it would've been as popular as the actual singles with the general public. Fall to Pieces also could've been a strong single I think.
TBDT: I think Alone should've/could've been on the standard edition and would've made a great single.
GL: Stop Standing There. It's upbeat and catchy, something the public could be into, and she'd probably actually sing it live lol. Possibly Not Enough as well, but she wouldn't sing it so that wouldn't really work -but if she did, it's a good song for showcasing her live vocals and it's one of my favorites on the album.
AL: if they'd released it in the summer, Bitchin Summer would've been a great choice. Maybe Sippin on Sunshine is more radio-friendly though. GYWYL would've been a solid choice.
HAW: Birdie, IWIM, neither of these need an explanation lol. I'd also vote Warrior (as it seems they'd planned instead of Warriors) because it would be a great way to close out the album cycle as an actual story.
LS: Love Sux, Avalanche

Love ABO, either this or TINS would have been great.
Fall to Peices would have been more successful than He Wasn't or Dont Tell me.
Alone was totally robbed on the album tbh. I don't listen to TBDT that often, but when I do, it's mainly for Alone.
I wouldn't change anything for GL singles-wise. But Everybody Hurts would have more than likely been pretty good.
I'm biased since I love Hello Heartache a ton, but I would want it as a single, but GYWYL would have been a better choice.
IWIM was the blatantly obvious choice for a single on HAW imo. But oh well.
I'm also biased on F.U since I love that song but anything besides LIWYHM or Bois Lie would have been better.

LG: ABO, although I can't remember if that actually became a single or stayed an abandoned single. The original plan was to release ABO as the final single but Avril wanted Losing Grip

Thinking about this has made me wonder how GL onward would have gone if Avril had been able to release what she wanted for singles (or, actually, have the GL she envisioned) and if COVID hadn't interfered with the HAW era. What would she have released as the lead single for GL if she didn't have to write WTH? And considering she sang IWIM at a few of the shows, it makes me think she wanted to and/or would have eventually made it a single, maybe followed by Warrior as the era-closing single.

The thing with GL is, the rest of the album (ignoring the max martin forced songs) is incredibly bland. If her original vision was songs like EH, 4 Real, Goodbye etc then I’m not surprised the label pushed back. I’m not saying those sessions with MM produced anything better because they didn’t, but assume she cut the 4/5 worst tracks to make room for the label forced songs, then the album was really not great quality to start with.

I heard Not Enough was one of the original contenders for the lead. And we know Push was her favorite and what she wanted as second single so it probably would have been either of those.
If that Evan Luke guy is to be believed at all, supposedly IWIM was planned to be the final single with a video of footage from the era and tour. Idk that he entirely knows what he’s talking about, but confirmed or not, that theory sounds plausible.

I think she would have done better if it had been released in 2009 as planned just because she was a bigger name then. By 2011 she had been out of the spotlight too long to come back with a more toned down sound. The only songs we definitely know were on the original GL were EH, Darlin and a full length Black Star. Most of the rest of the album we got seems to have been stuff she came up with after the original version was rejected so it's hard to say how it would have done, singles wise.

I wouldn't change a single thing on the first 2 eras. They went perfect on their own way.
TBDT: "Everything Back But You" instead of "The Best Damn Thing". GL: "Wish You Were Here" as 2nd single instead of "Smile", "Everybody Hurts" or "Not Enough" as 3rd single. AL: This whole album was a mess... HAW: "Birdie" Love Sux: "Avalanche", "Deja Vu" or any other song of the album instead of "I Love it When You Hate Me".

I need time to think about the previous eras, but as far as Love Sux, I Would have chosen no doubt Love Sux for the Summer and Avalanche around EU tour.
They wanted to play the collab thing for streamings probably, but they released worse songs as singles

I don't believe these Evan Luke, I just remember that Avril said that she wanted IWIM as last single from HAW. But I don't fan of IWIM. It's like their made IWY v.2

I'm back!
17, Souvenir, and F.U.
F.U. is such a catchy pop rock song, so if some sort of Radio Edit could be made then that should be have a single; Souvenir gives me generic 2018 pop; and 17 is top 3 (if not top 2) best songs on Avril Lavigne, so I think it could have been bigger than Rock n' Roll as a second single released in July 2013.
