I didnβt realize the song was out today, thought it was tomorrow. The song is bland and sounds like a million other bro country songs about drinking. Sheβs barely on it. I listened once, never need to again. Forgettable, bland song, and sounds more Nickelback than country. Iβd have preferred they duet on his song Under My Skin instead lol

I was surprised myself! I'm not really, if not at all, into country but i quite like the mix of country rock to be honest. Still hoping that she's not going completely country for AL8, but it sounds fresh for once! Feels different! Yay! Also, i think she was also drunk while recording! Not that it matters but since everyone is talking about Avril's drinking lately.. see her little red nose on the pictures she posted earlier ? And remember TBDT recording session ? Speaking of her drinking, i do think she has a tendency to be alcholic too. Careful here. I'm not saying she is, i'm saying she could (easily) be.. she's a little bit like me with sugar, it looks like once she starts, she can't stop ? Although i love her! |

I cant believe how easy it is to get to work with her lol  I feel like musicians DM her and she's like "sure!". I think it's cool she's doing this even if the songs is kinda lame. But she should work in her own country album already!! |

I liked the song.
Maybe it's because the solo version is too "dad's country" that they decided to make a female remix. Now the song sounds more universal.
But I have a doubt. Doesn't she have a new verse for this remix of the song? She's not credited as a songwriter.

Think the song is a certified banger! Yes itβs quite dad rock and quite reminiscent of Nickleback - Rockstar (musically and the chorus melody). But I like the rock and roll meets country vibe. If this is a sign for Avrils country era sound Iβll be happy.
HOWEVER!! Feel like they totally done Avril over. She sounds like a backing singer on this!? And is barely in it. Interested to see the live version and see how they mix her vocals in that setting.

I agree with you guys about tone correction. And this isn't only a problem with this track, but with modern music in general. In the 00s they did it much better, they tried to make it as invisible as possible, if the genre didn't require it. Even with Avril as an example, all the tracks on the albums were subject to tone correction and until the fifth album this was really not so obvious. And I'm not against it, because it's like a lifeboat for "studio" singers, but it sets such high standards that sometimes you forget what a real human voice really sounds like. This! |
