I've noticed in some live performances she won't go for the big note in MHE either. It's disappointing when she doesn't go for high notes but at the same time as a singer I understand. Some days your voice just isn't as good as other days. Women's menstrual cycles can also affect their ability to hit high notes because of the hormones so I understand if maybe she wasn't feeling well or whatever that she might not want to sing the high notes. It, in fact, can even be damaging to her voice if she tried to hit those notes while her voice was in that condition. I'm sure Avril knows how far she can/should push her voice, depending on how she's feeling, so that she doesn't risk any damage. In the end it's more important that she keep her voice healthy for the next show rather than having to cancel halfway into a tour because of vocal issues or risk damaging her voice. True and those examples you say sounds quite obvious and could be the case but lately it seems like she always is on her period or something like that; Not feeling well etc. Anyway, I bet shes using birth control so will it have the same effects each month as if shes not using birth control? But thats another discussion and not so appropiate to talk about her birth control situation so I stop ^_^ Honestly I'm not sure if the use of birth control pills can or does affect your voice. We also don't know if Avril takes those pills, or what kind. I think most of the last tour can be forgiven because that was when she started getting ill. As for the rest of the time (and BST as well) I think it comes down to her vocal coach. I think they taught her improper technique as blackstarghost alluded to, or she is taking the advice too much to heart. She needs a better/different coach IMO.

Re Innocence; it's weird that she did avoid the "makes you wanna cryyy" note coming out of the bridge every time, cause she would almost always hit the exact same high note that would need to be used a couple lines later, in the "please don't go away" adlib (the "please" and "cry" share the same note).

I like I'm with you live better sometimes. Especially this one performance that was on The Black Star Tour. I forgot which one but at one point the audience is singing and it gives me chills! So beautiful!

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Slipped Away performance in Budokan? Sounds really off-note to me. A metal fan should be more tolerant of technical imperfections in live vocals. atleast its not overdubbed and its real. that is what i love about live one take with mistakes and all. i know its off does not bother me

Ugh I hated that performance. You can tell she was probably sick or something and needed to clear her throat the entire time, which she actually did at the end. I just found it annoying the whole time. I've actually never liked any of the live performances of HTNGU, acoustic or full band. It's way too auto tuned and produced to sound decent live. yeah she was probably sick but i think live versions of HTNGU so much better the studio. i hope the next album is all real instruments.

I love the performance for Push at Z100 New York Hit Music Station. It is my favorite live version of Push I love that she changed the lyrics in the second chours "maybe you should just shut the fuck up!" and her vocals are amazing as always.

I like her lives better. There are some lives where she reeaaallly nails it. I like her acoustic lives better, or better say where she sings with only one or two guitars or a piano. Slipped Away from Budokan is perfect for me. Her acting and her voice is so emotional it takes my breath away. I like her raw and stripped down side so much better than this motherfucking generic rocky princess she did in the last couple of years mostly. It looked great back in 2007 with that image, but no, not now. It was her back then but now she's not that sparkly princess anymore. I liked the acoustic concert she did in the TBDT era, I can't remember it's name.
I like how she smiles and laughs when she unfortunately fucks up or forgets the lyrics like she did with Knockin on Heaven's Door in 2004 for example.
My other favourite performance is IWY from 2011's Walmart Sessions. I know it's autotuned, but that song is beautiful!
BTW there is a HORRIBLE live for WTH out there somewhere. I only remember it was recorded on Asia, in a TV show around 2011. Does anyone remember?

The acoustic show in TBDT era was Live from Roxy Theater.

I wish the guitar riff that's played during the 2nd Verse was on the studio version!
